According to Billboard, Ren is, "No. 1 on the UK's Official Albums Top 100 chart, No. 2 on Heatseekers Albums, No. 11 in Top Current Album Sales, and No. 13 in Top Album Sales. He's also No. 4 on the Emerging Artists chart, No. 54 on Billboard Artists 100, and No. 137 on the Billboard 200."

I believe Ren said that he was invited to do Fire in the Booth but had to decline due to his treatments(?). Once he can go home from Canada I imagine we'll be seeing him quite a bit more on stuff like that. Great points on the differences between capitalism and corporatism. Great reaction.

BP Loving how much you have supported Ren. Thank you for helping to introduce new fans to his vibe. I think this track has some fantastic lyrics and I love how it rounds off the album and brings it full circle. It reemphasises Ren’s health journey whilst at the same time showing how far he’s come and why the corporatised capitalist system is failing people because of the need for greed. I love how the track has a great chill out at the end too. It sounds like Vik’s voice doing the money in the bag parts. I love the line “Panic was formed in the fragments. That happened from a lack of passion hitting his hippocampus”. When Ren asks why did that boy inside his mind gets blinded and then decomposes. This is such a deep and soul searching question. One of the many questions that the Sick Boi album asks us all consider.

I’m late this reaction but it’s now Thursday 10/26 and Ren’s album is at #3 behind Drake new album and Notorious B.I.G.’s Greatest Hits) on the iTunes Rap/Hip-Hop chart and that’s in spite of the only song of his on their Rap/Hip-Hop top 200 is Sick Boi, which is at 193. Drake has three in the top 10

Ren has brain damage, extensive nerve damage and damage to his bones, joints and internal organs. Despite the experimental treatments he's receiving, much of the damage is likely permanent. He'll likely remain in near constant pain and need to remain on heavy medication, for the rest of his life or unless cures are found. He remains allergic to virtually all food, meaning he has to have almost exactly the same meal, every single mealtime. That alone makes things like touring extremely difficult, never mind his frequent bad days. He still suffers from adhd, ptsd and chronic depression. His Lyme Disease, although still problematic, is largely under control. More worrying is his Mast Cell Disease, as it's progress can only be slowwed, not halted. I think a lot of fans have very unrealistic ideas of how Ren's health is going to be when he eventually returns from Canada. Many seem to believe that he'll be pretty much fine, health-wise when he returns. That just isn't the case. He has 2 extremely debilitating and incurable chronic illnesses, a whole host of associated conditions and illnesses and damage to his body and brain. The treatments he's receiving only address the latter and are unlikely to repair all the damage. We all hope there is significant improvement in his health but we also need to be realistic. There may be short to medium term improvements to Ren's health but without significant breakthroughs in the treatment of his conditions, particularly with Mast Cell, Ren's health is likely to get worse over time, not better... and research for Mast Cell and Lyme's is sparse and unpromising. Not enough people suffer from either disease to make it profitable for pharmaceutical companies to invest in proper research. It's unfortunate but true that profit is overwhelmingly the primary driving force under capitalism. Everything else comes a porr second.

I fully agree with you, P, on your capitalism rant. I also don't think Ren is as "anti-capitalist" in reality as he makes out, he just uses it artistically. I think he is intelligent enough to understand that, as cool and "community-driven" as him getting number 1 is, he is still making use of capitalism. I mean, Google are pretty much one of the main corporate giants. Also, because he did it independently, Ren gets to earn most of the income he makes from these album sales, which he can then use to make more music, pay for treatments, give to good causes, etc. That is literally capitalism working properly.

There have been some Ren songs where even though it's all crazy good, it has a similar sound to other pretty famous songs. Like he used the beat and cadence of some other hip hop song. I actually think it's intentional. Him sort of calling out his influences. This new stuff, so much of it is new. Like BP said, fresh. Something so totally different. Shows a next level of talent.
