I actually went to the freckled angel restaurant on Anglesey yesterday to complete my year since my introduction to Ren and his vibe. Felt like a great end to the year. They have the lyrics to freckled angel framed on a wall within the restaurant.

I love the saturation on her voice. I'm a sucker for saturation. I thought the same with Sam's vocals on What Went Wrong pt1. It's so easy to overdo saturation and Ren once again handled it perfectly! It sounds so good! And no delay. So that's impressive to get vocals to sound so good with zero delay. EDIT: I meant no delay on the first time we hear Molly sing. The 2nd time we hear Molly there's a nice pre-delay effect. I was just talking about the first time we hear her.

I absolutely love this song - Molly's voice is so beautiful ! So happy to hear yesterday that Ren will be releasing Demos Volume 3 this year including more tracks with Molly and Eden Nash. Can't wait !

The hardest lyric for me in this whole song was "A suicidal Angel". To me, that one lyric just sounded like someone that who has been through so much pain that although they feel they need to keep going and keep a power that grants so much life, an angel committing sacrilege is because they no longer have the strength to keep going.

Love seeing people react to some of Ren's older music. Since he is just recently blowing up, mostly only his new stuff gets reacted on, but he has some real gems in his older stuff.

You're not that surface level You dig into what Ren in putting out and it shows your depth. Not many others do that

The numbers are quite easy to be honest there only can be 3 same symbols in a row I = 1, V = 5, X = 10 and u go 1 = I, 2 = II, 3 = III, 4 = IV, 5 = V, 6 = VI, 7 = VII, 8 = VIII, 9 = IX, 10 = X and it will repete the patern but u will be adding new symbols 50 = L, 100 = C, 500 = D, 1000 = M So when you see XVII you know X is 10 V is 5 and II is 2 = 17 and if u put lower symbol in front like 4 (IV) and 9 (IX) is then its like minus so -1 + 5 = 4, -1 + 10 = 9 So when you see for example date 1976 it will be MCMLXXVI --> M= 1000 + C= (-100) [C is minus here because its in front of higher symbol ]+ M= 1000 + L= 50 + X= 10 + X= 10 + V= 5 + I= 1 [ 1000 + (-100) + 1000 + 50 + 10 + 10 + 5 + 1 ] = 1976

This is very profound. Ren had a lot of time 'trapped' in his bed all those years and would just write, or read, just read and write, learn and educate himself. Learn instruments and things about music, and rhythm and cadence. Exploring his mind, his thoughts and the meaning of everything and asking WHY. The music saved him from totally losing his mind as well as his body. In my opinion, Ren is just genius and wonder how he would be today if he never got that lyme disease, would he be as creative or thought provoking?

For me, this song, along with Crutch and BlindEyed, form a sort of trilogy. This song was written after Blindeyed (and reuses some of the lyrics), but falls chronologically before it, and after Crutch. I'm 99% sure it deals with the ending of his relationship with Bibi, and the last half (from "I wish that I could stop crying...") has a "pressure of speech" element that is commonly seen with psychosis--the rapid-fire dumping of factual information that then jumps through several other trains of thought, and only stops when a pill is popped "and time stops". The first part is, I think, Ren expressing that the relationship ended because he felt a need to be as independent as he could manage during his illness. It's a powerful song, but then, most of Ren's songs are powerful in one way and another.

Finallyyyyy you heard this one!!! I've wondered (and maybe even assumed) if this is connected to Blind Eyed because of the eating cake and double take lyrics between the two songs.

XVII = 17. X is 10. V is 5. I is 1. 10+5+1+1=17. So far so straight forward. Because all the numbers are in descending order you just add them up. However, if you put a smaller number eg. I (1) in front of a larger number eg. V (5) then you take it away from that number, so VI = 6 (add them together because the numbers are in descending order) but IV = 4 (take 1 away from 5). It is done so that you can write easily and efficiently on a wax tablet or stone, mostly using straight lines. There are also some other letters used for larger numbers: L = 50 C = 100 D = 500 M = 1000 We use Arabic numerals today in English (many other languages do too). Latin used to be the common language across Europe before English, so lots of historical monuments etc. have Roman numerals on them.

As surprising as it is (English & French people aren't known to be best friends, in a certain way, BUT), these 2 languages have A LOT of common words ! But when bywords exist, english people use the english version, not the "french roots one", because english version is "always" shorter. I also believe the "french version" is more used by ""high société people"" .... There is also what we call "false friends " in french, when the word exists in both languages but, with different meanings (which really does't help) Penitence is one of those common word with french (just make me smile as I try to learning english while you 'struggeling ' with 'french' word, we're on tha same bout 😉) Hope you'll understand what I try to say Thanks for helping to understand Ren's ART 👍🤙

Have you ever noticed that Ren hardly has any chorus hooks particularly in the older stuff? That's why some of his tracks are short because it doesn't have the "filler". He does add a catchy chorus but only when needed. He's telling a story.

Roman numerals: I = 1 V = 5 X = 10 I think of it like a V is half of an X, and 5 is half of 10. 1-10: I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X 4 is IV because 1 before 5 is 4 (5-1=4) 6 is VI because 1 after 5 is 6 (5+1=6) It’s mathematical pattern recognition, which I find easy as someone who is autistic. I wish I had a catchy song to help you remember.

A simple definition of penitence would be "paying for your wrong-doing."

I think penitence as in penitentiary, both are meant to show regret or sorrow over past actions. I could be wrong about that tho lol
