In todays Video I will talking about size in 28mm wargaming and do different models mix well with each other from different manufactures.
So high all and welcome to Miniature Wargaming Warriors. Its a story of two friends on a hobby journey for all to enjoy. You will see highs and lows. Salt and more Salt. Hi Ken, I think they look good mixed up a bit. In real life every soldier varies in height, so why stick to just one height on models. 😀 Alec

Dont forget that Grenadiers " should " be a little bigger in stature, hight and build. They were supposed to be the biggest and strongest of the battalion.

when it comes to historical 28mm most mix very well with each other... a very nice plus when looking at other heroic games

Hi Ken, I am revisiting this video after paying extra attention to your comments. Regarding Grenadiers, they tend to be above average height anyway and if you look at the height of the Bearskin, this makes them taller visually anyway. I don't wargame, I just collect and paint, so I tend to keep different manufacturers together , but if I was a gamer, I would not wish to see Miniatures "sticking out like sore thumbs" on the game table. Your comment about using Victorix bodies with alternative heads is a good one, conversions appeal to me, and any method of creating variety is a boon. Cheers mate.

I Can confirm that victrix miniatures are a litte bit taller than warlord

just been putting together a young guard btn; from the victrix greatcoated guard figures. However I realised their great coats would be grey same as line infantry, ok so we need some "full dress style shakos". The ones supplied with the victrix figures are campaign style.... So i have used the bell topped shakos from the perry's french hussars (complete with cords plumes and flounders), this gives them an alternative appearance to just 'more' greatcoated infantry. The mix works well too. Also my ECW armies they include figures from all of the past 4 decades, those that are on the smallish size just go on thicker bases and as you say "from 3 feet away it's hard to notice the difference"

Nice one mate great review. Always helps to see them scaled to other companies. Definitely like the victrix grenadiers and will be picking up a couple of the bavarians when they get released. 😁👍

As I say as long as the size isnt too obvious and the unit looks good then there is no problem mixing manufactures

Good comparison, they should mix very well. Like normal soldiers would look like.

Thanks for the post. I'm surprised how well they go together. You'd expect grenadiers to be taller anyway as taller men were often selected to look more imposing. Even the proportions of the figures (often more of an issue than the height) look good. I love Perry miniatures. The only issue I've found is matching Perry Napoleons with my old Wargames Foundry figures. Both sculpted by the Perrys but the Foundry figures look much smaller. :)

The regt at the end looks nice. I mix the 3 together a lot and think they match well. I think the issue comes with some of the manufacturers like FrontRank or HAT

I have mixed Perry, warlord , Front Rank , Elite and Calpe they all go together some Perry’s are thinner and a little smaller but has never really worried me.

I'm new to this model but where the grenadiers not met to be picked for being the tallest ,so all I can see is bigger hats not bodies mate .

When l notice a small difference in height between figures, l just add a small piece of of thin plastic between the figure and base on the shorter figures. After you add your landscaping effects any size difference is less noticeable.

Should see my Warlord , Perry mods for Russian and Polish Cavalry ! Keep the spare arms and heads off sprues in compartment organisers for that aka Frankenstein mod .I put some Perry Austrian heads on Victrix figures and grabbed some Colpacks to make Polish Horse Artillery . As you have shown its a non issue and end of story

Those are so close. I would say the difference am be attributed to different body shapes and styles.

Ken, the plastics are ok mixing, but the problem is when you want to mix metals. This can be frustrating for example, Perrys metal range do not mix with Front rank, Foundry, Offensive Miniatures, Elite, Calpe etc. This applies in any order and will be very difficult trying to mix any of these with the plastics. Good video BTW showing how well the plastics mix.

Yer I am going to do a video on that in the future warlord cav are alot thinner than most but that's for another time. It's not necessarily a bad thing tho

@@3dWargamer Ken, regarding these new warlord Cav, there is a lot of debate about the horse height (scaling something on par with a small pony) and regarding the material (resin) used to produce them. At this time, I think Perry are the best 28mm Horses available, in scale and sculpt. This is also applicable to their metal range mixing with them as well. Look forward to further debate and video's on this subject mate.

it makes no sense irl to have all soldier the same size, size diffences only sticks out if we talking about warhammer levels of scale creep.

looks great, but there are some that def do not match... why do these companies have such a difference in scale anyway ?. 6mm is 6mm, 15mm is 15mm, 28mm is 28mm no matter what, why do they all have different scales in the first place.
