Dio really showed he had the perfect rock voice on this track.....thing with this album is his voice just melts into the songs as he's surrounded by master Musicians....brilliant stuff.

Just so you know, the version of Mob Rules in the movie Heavy Metal slightly varies from the album. You might want compare in your free time.

E5150 & Mob Rules together were a great pair up originally. On the vinyl album E5150 bled straight into Mob Rules without that stupid break that came with the CD version. They should have put them as one track on the CD, that break has annoyed me for 41 years. 😵‍💫 Sorry should have said 35ish years, since the CD came out, lol.

I saw the movie when it was a new release in theaters (I don't want to look up how long ago that was because it will just remind me how flippin' OLD I am...) I went because of the music and walked away wondering what in the world I just saw. Loving the reactions though.

The song is about mob mentality and literal mob rule, how a demagogue can whip up the mob but once it gets going it's like a fire you can't put out and it takes on a life of it's own. Like witch hunts or the terrors of the french revolution, once you whip up a mob you've created something dangerous and uncontrollable.

What I always have taken away from this song is the line "If you listen to fools. the mob rules" It's not about the Mafia. The Mob is the masses, like lynch mob. The Lyrics state "when you listen to fools, the Mob Rules". It's about political leaders playing on the fears on people. Brain Washing them in a "Mob Mentality". But the song clearly cautions that they're playing with fire when they do this. It's also a warning for people not to fall into such manipulation. Source: Lyrics Interpretation
