Went out on my friend's boat for a quick morning fishing session out into the Sound around our local area. The weather was iffy and rain was forecasted on the NY side but not the CT side so we gave it a shot and it worked out. At the date of this video, sea bass is still closed in NY but open in CT, yet we share the same grounds, its an interesting phenomenon that lasts for about a month in the spring. We learned quite a bit though from this trip, the main takeaway being that if you have unfavorable drift conditions it may be better to just anchor on a good spot and cast up current. The second takeaway being that you have to be on the good spot, once you start shifting off the good area, and the current slows, get ready for only sea robins and dogfish sharks.
