I would like for it to grow to middle of my back it’s past my shoulders so l have a little ways to go l have been all natural for about 6 years now and l’m happy l did.! I never did the cut for my hair l do need a real cut but l will deal with a trim only when l can get to my salon but it’s still growing That’s my goal the middle of my back past my bra. Remember when we where young and our hair grew like wild flowers and all we really used was greases, like DAX, BLUE MAGIC, SULFUR 8, ROYAL CROWN etc....,People trying to deter us from that so you can buy their expensive products, but truth is ,these simple inexpensive ways worked
My hair didn’t actually grow until I stopped using those . I think we all try to use the same hair routine and in reality you need to find what works for your type of hair specifically
Im 14 and when I was younger that's all I would use and my hair was long healthy then I started doing my own hair and I think it got shorter so I'm currently on as hair journey to grow it back using grease and black castor oil and hair growth oil and protective styles
My grandma would wash my hair hair like once a month, blow dried it, put some grease on that thing, plated it up and rarely straighten it. She never put any relaxer in my hair ever and my hair has never been as healthy as when she was doing it

I hated this constant need to grow long hair. My hair was to my tail bone and I cut it to my shoulder. Why? Because I felt like it. And guess what? Loving and treating my hair with special care and drinking water is making it grow out even healthier again. You can buy $100 products but treat your hair like its $1.... it’s not the products, it’s your care.
That’s the point. Laziness and people like fast-track way to hair growth. Patient, they say it’s a virtue. You have to actually care for your hair to see results.

What's breaking off black women hair isn't laziness it's the products that are being used. Understand that 95% of hair products sold in stores were never created for our type of hair. Most of the RU-vidrs with long hair use their own products. Knowledge is powerful people.
You're right. I think the problem with black women is not that they are lazy per se, but we've done "so much" to our hair to try and grow it and it doesn't work, so once someone tells you to create a hair regimen and work on our hair everyday, we feel dispirited because we start thinking we don't want to put in the work and still get no results.
It's really easy to grow our hair. The problem is we have HIH syndrome. "Hands In Hair" syndrome. If we leave it alone for weeks at a time, it will grow.

The reason why we have both longer and healthier hair now is through trial and error done by BLACK PEOPLE on their own NATURAL HAIR! All those hair fads of curly perm, relaxed hair, wig wearing has taught us nothing! Absolute zero!!! Its only with the internet and social media that the information has spread faster, more people have got involved. We have looked at other cultures and practices such as rice water, Ayurvedic practices and herbs as well as bringing to the fore traditional herbs and practices Aloe Vera, castor oil, hair plaiting and canerowing. Knowledge of black hair like hair type, porosity etc have come through the so called ' Black Hair Natural Movement". We are now teaching Europeans about their own hair practices too. We are not there yet. But we are winning.
Nobody's hair is the same. My friend had no edges but she kept braids in for four months before she got them redone so I thought she had really short hair. She couldn't get them done one day so she came to work, her hair was long!! Past her shoulders but she had no edges because of the braids. ☺☺ You can have long hair with no edges.
So true. My hair is growing but my edges are falling and I don't know why. The texture and porosity is different. I take suplements and all but looking at my childhood photos I never had real edges.
@@jdoe-en7be Try making a rosemary infused herbal oil, and massage your edges with the oil. Also, make an herbal spray and add rosemary essential oil to it and spray your hair and edges with it a few times a week with the oil too. This method helped my edges grow.

Depends on what you want if your simple just cornrows it into different styles and roll with it if your extra twist out and the like but pay attention to moisture when doing such styles
Purchase combs, brushes, sulfate free shampoo and conditioners and oils. As far as styling it, wash and deep condition it every two weeks. Braid it anyway you want. Your hair will grow. I do the same to mine.

Look I left my hair in non per locs for 6 months after cutting it tapered. It grew so much... so greasing it, binding it and leaving it alone ... it will grow. Don't expect it to grow while putting relaxers, flat irons and bonding glue in it .
Length and growth rate are not the same. Genetics control growth rate not Length. Its all about care/retention. I dedicated 1 year to consistent care and my hair which in its natural state never made it past my shoulder. At the end of the year it was down to my waist. The next year I decided to do nothing and go back to the way I did things before and now its brastrap Length. My thick dense hair is now sparse and my strains are all at different lengths due to brakeage though I've trimmed my hair twice in a year its still not even. Instead of doing another big chop to repair the damage I'm installing mirolocks. My point is growth has a lot to do with How you care for your hair. You put in the effort you'll be rewarded, you take the lazy route and you'll be bald.
LOL! You hit the nail on the head. My hair was so thick in the day it beat my mom down. She decided to go gangster on my head by putting a relaxer in my hair herself so she wouldn't feel defeated. Burnt the dickens out of my head. Think my near death experience happened around 8 years old. Great video and thank you.
My hair growth regiment: wear protective styles most of the time and leags your hair ALONE. When I do have it out, I prepoo and detangle with aloe vera juice. The next day, I do a rice water rinse then wash it with a sulfate free shampoo. Then i use KCURLSYS (4C product made by a 4C haired woman with beautiful, healthy hair) Deep conditioner, leave it in for an hour then wash it out. Dry with a microfiber towel but leave the hair a LITTLE damp then I use the the LOC method. Since my hair is already damp. I spray my hair with aloe vera juice then grease my scalp while putting my homemade oil regiment in my hair (which I heat up) then I put KCURLSYS leave in conditioner and put a shower cap on just because it creates heat which allows our low porosity hair to basically absorb more product and because the oil drips sometimes. Make sure to put a good amount of product on your ends! When my hair feels dry a week or few days later, I just spray a tiny bit of aloe vera juice, then I put either my leave in conditioner or just some shea butter in my hair with my oils until I eventually put another protective style back in my head :)

I am a lazy natural with 4c long hair. I am not proud but I haven't wash my hair in 5 months and it is tail bone, belly buton length. Please people, wash your hair but you can be lazy and have long hair.

Yeah guys! Making this comment about my hair not being washed for the past 6 months made me ashamed of myself and I finally washed my hair. Last shampoo was 21 oct 2019.😭 My hair was fine and looking shiny. I had a beautiful hair day 2 days ago. But it was time. I am happy my hair is clean. 😊
The problem is that it doesn’t matter as much the type, density, porosity as many obsess over. The problem is everyday you feel you must dress up or style your hair whenever go out rather than styles that protect hair either with tucked ends or scarf/turban. Just leave it alone rather than “training” it.

It's true re the edges, seem suspicious. I would not use that guy's stuff, would make my own. I learned something very important today, check the pH balance of your hair care products. Found out a lot of products pH are very high and is messing up people's hair dry, making it fall out. So I will start to check mine. I agree with what you say we need to also know our porosity, eat well and drink lots of water and moisture our hair in the right way.
Nature gave Africans the hair type that grows up and out rather than down because they need to keep cool in the intense heat. DNA isn't going to change just because people have relocated. Besides, length isn't everything. Quality is where it's at.

Growing HEALTHY LONG NATURAL HAIR it's like a Weight Loss Journey, you have to PUT IN THE WORK to get Results but what happen, a lot of people don't like to put in the work. They expect a magic pill to help them magically grow healthy long hair. Same with Weight Loss, some people expect a magical pill to help them lose weight.
Alot of people have traction alopecia, that's why their edges are thin. Plenty of women go threw it including me. Soooo, as long as the hair is long enough to cover it, doesn't really matter to me.

My hair was super thick and long when I was a kid and my mom used GREASE! Then I got a perm and she was VERY angry...I kept doing that for decades and then finally stopped...had a few set backs and now I’m much better at it but it took a long time to learn my hair. I’m now using Chébé because I need some help with hair health and retaining moisture. I’ve only put the powder in twice so I’m still learning how to use this but I have to admit this is the first time in a long time my hair didn’t feel super dry after 3 days. And my Chébé didn’t cost a lot either and I’ve bought 3 bags.

Sorry, did you say “she may have good genes”? I think that’s insulting to those whose hair doesn’t grow as quickly. I don’t think that those whose hair grows quicker have better genes. The point is we all have different genes. Hair is just dead cells anyway, so if your cells are dying faster (longer hair), we can argue that’s not a ‘good’ thing. And someone else could say that perhaps such a high rate of dying cells also means you’re aging more quickly - which might explain a few things. So, no need to be disrespectful on such an important topic, especially when you are supposed to be helping black women. We need to change the negative narrative about our hair! Good genes!!!! Kmt
My hair is relaxed but I only relaxed 4 times for the year. Usually I would break away from this if there are occasionally set back to this regime. Primarily if it becomes difficult to pass the wide tooth comb through my hair. Both relaxed and natural regime are available to assist us in our choice of natural or relaxed. Manipulation of the hair on irregular times if spaced out for my relaxed hair, normally depends on the atmosphere. Unbelievable but it's true my hair loves the blow drier. To endure the long periods without using relaxers I must deep condition plus algan protection helps. Although the deep protection that I use contains built in heat protecter I still follow with my heat protector. The algan heat protecter is water based but contains castor oils. My hair loves these products. I cut my ends regularly to strengthen my entire head of hair. I believe while your own hair is your pride and joy you still enjoy focusing on others on their personal hair journeys. It's unlikely that my own personal hair experience journey would have come this far without the help of FRIENDS AND RU-vid. Since lock down I had sufficient periods to research using different youtube channels. My FAVOURITES ARE SISTA WITH REAL HAIR AND TEAUNDRA. Imagined my delight when I found out how exciting it felt to see another beautiful African Queen not afraid to wash and show how she maintained those beautiful gorgeous hair. WOW. She kept drumming protect your ends protect your ends. Then she oiled and sealed her ends. There is nothing more beautiful and uplifting as the knowledge that YES you also can honestly have beautiful gorgeous hair. With the precise results for your own hair grooming. We are all unique but similar. Therefore the real magic when you find out more about hair is consistency. I found a channel a few years ago but couldn't retrieve it cause I lost my phone. It was an African family just using relaxer and deep conditioning without any other forms of manipulation yet they hair continued to grow? I wish I could find them again 🤔 🤔uum. What I have personally witnessed is by using either moisturising conditioner and moisturising shampoo dependent on strengthen techniques my hair mixed with oil helps. Conditioner and shampoo may contain protein. Not all contain protein. Our hair need balance . Therefore it's good idea to mix moisturising conditioner and protein conditioner. Or moisturising shampoo and protein shampoo with oil of course. Our hair needs detangling products for ease. If you want to avoid losing unnecessary stresses then look at the shampoos and conditioner ingredients. Conditioner are usually detangling but you can buy a separate detangler. Castor oil or any form of oil gives it the slip feeling. So when you use the very large broad tooth comb in the shower it avoids breakage. The shower head water must not beat down too heavily on your head. This can assist in making your hair growth irregular on the crown. Working on your ends gently and gradually arriving to the roots in both combing and brushing will create a better easier understanding of your hair. What is on your head will stay on your head. Unbelievable but true I also take advise or I should say advantage of the FARMERS ALMANAC. I Google cutting hair for growth and the day for cutting is shown. It even advise on strengthening hair?.True. I laughed when she mentioned the mothers couldn't wait for age 6 to slap relaxer on their daughters hair 😂😁😀😃😄😅. 🤔uum but I'm guilty because I was one of those mums .Seana have beautiful gorgeous thick hair but it was a struggle so I use JUST FOR ME? Anyone can see that is the little girl hair. It’s possible that her hair has been growing over the past few years.. it really doesn’t take that long if you’re taking care of it properly. However my edges have been pulled out since I’ve had twist braids and hasn’t grown back since.. my hair is very long and my edges still haven’t caught up. He is running out about those prices though.
My hair used to be big and long... Then my mom relaxed it. I grew it out but didn't know how to braid my hair. I'm not a weave and wig person so I wear two braids all the time with a ponytail or two in the back. I used to twist it all the time. I recently just washed and twisted my hair up and am going to leave it in twists. I just want to use water, shampoo, vaseline (mom used it when my hair grew) and pink lotion and JBCO. That's all... Wash it, grease my scalp, moisturize my hair, seal it with JBCO and twist it. I actually did a routine (change it almost all the time). I used ghee, washed it out, left some rice water and conditioner in my hair for about 10 minutes, rinsed that out. Then I used an olive oil product (forget what it's called) then a hair lotion then JBCO on my hair and my hair came out so soft. Twisted it up and my twists are super soft so I might stick with this routine instead? Idk what I'll do tbh

I've heard it works but I'm already using three different hair growing methods and products and about to add one more so I'm not going to try it! The testimonials and reviews for the many brands of pumpkin seed oil on Amazon are positive and people say all the brands help to grow their hair! I don't know if Benny Harlem's products work or not but the $400.00 price for me is a NO! Lol!!
My edges are thin but I have long hair. I suffered from traction alopecia due relaxers and boxs braids being too tight and keeping them in for too long. I've been natural for almost 5 years now. My edges are still thin but a bit thicker than before. Also having vitamin/mineral deficiency get affect the hair line as well. Not every natural has full thick edges.
It is true, African American women will put a relaxer in a very young child's hair. I don't understand it. I was in my twenties before I really knew what a relaxer was and I wasn't very consistent about getting them. My hair has been natural for the last 20 years and I love it. My, then hairdresser, told me that I didn't need to relaxer my hair. He started blowing it dry and curling it and I liked it a lot better.

it's all genetics. My hair natural is the same length as my hair was when it was relaxed which would be 14 - 16 inches. But yes maintaining and retaining the length is super hard. Yes our hair can grow, all hair grows no matter the texture. It is about caring for it. I can't handle my hair because it is hella thick. But I wouldn't want it any other way.
