In the US we can't use the classic Blackberrys. We can only use the BlackBerry phones that run Android. That being said, when I get my Priv battery replaced om gonna start using it again.
ok, I pulled out my Classic and tried Tmobile and Patriot. I could actually text but no voice. Too bad. I love the the Classic and Passport on BB10. We'd be on BB20 by now if they were still going. Man, I miss my Blackberry.
Hey Steve, a bit different, after my blackberry passport and playbook couldn’t connect to Wi-Fi, I moved to a Windows phone! And I still can get a good experience on there!
The Classic is the quintessential BlackBerry, but the Passport will always be my favorite for the unmitigated gall to make such a device. The first time I looked at the Passport, I said "I dont care what i have to do. I'll even switch carriers, but im getting that Passport". And I did and used it for 5 straight years until AT&T kicked me off. I would have gone another 5. Excellent video once again, mate! Thanks for reminding us of the glory days!
Used a passport for years loved it...switched to the classic for the ultimate keyboard experience...AT&T threatening for months...switched to Priv/T-Mobile...disabled all unused apps...charge 40-80...runs 100%...when I set it down on the restaurant table, everyone sees the BlackBerry script...nothing else matters...
Great clip Steve 😊 I still have my Blackberry Classic in my sock drawer ha ha. The good old days! When you hold the Classic you still feel like the boss... best phone I ever owned and used back in the day.
For me Blackberry represented a time when I still didn't care about the 2010s smartphone paradigm shift to using apps and more advanced web services on your phone. I just wanted a solid phone for texting, calling, and taking the occasional picture as well as having mp3 playing capabilities once more cars started having bluetooth. I was still using a Blackberry until 2015 when I finally decided to give Android a try. The Classic was my last BB and it was always super solid for me. I think if Blackberry had jumped on the Android platform a couple years sooner they would have been able to make a more solid case for their continued presence in the market.
I would go to a Unihertz device, but they are a bit just too bulky right now. I really want Unihertz to make a phone just as the Blackberry Passport, dimension-wise.
My first Blackberry was the Pearl 8100 by T Mobile back in 2008 and many other model’s before RIM closed shop. I missed those days when you had different choices of OS system not being stuck with just two. Had the BlacKBerry Playbook. Enjoy your RU-vid videos.
@@StevealiciousTech you’re welcome and I do remember that with the exception of the iPhone all phones including BlackBerry had removable batteries especially when your phone freezes that was a life saver then pressing multiple buttons
Man, I wish they had pushed out something to unlock the bootloaders on those things and allow people to at least try making custom ROMs for these old things. They're so freaking sleek looking, and I really loved those keyboards. I tried the Unihertz Titan Pocket, and it just didn't quite click with me, sadly. Also, for older phones working on networks, I have an HTC One M8 Windows edition running WP 8.1, a Lumia 650 running WP10, and a Lumia 950 running WP10 that all were able to activate and function on Google Fi. There was some manual configuration to be done, but not much more than it took to get my iPhone 13 working on Fi.
Classic, passport, Keyone and Key2 all work on MINT Mobile; both data and voice service. As of 8/16/23 in the USA in GSM.....the only one that doesn't work is my non American Keyone black dual sim from India
Agree that the tool belt was essential. There still remains no substitute for physical send and end buttons. I moved to a Pixel after 22 years on BlackBerry. Thanks for the fun video.
@@StevealiciousTech Think the "tool belt" was the term that BlackBerry used for the horizontal strip with the trackpad, back, "send," and "end" buttons.
I was just thinking of getting one. Every few years I get a heavy dose of nostalgia towards the BlackBerry and BB10 software. But then with all the 4g talk being dropped soon, idk if it's worth it. If I can do just email, calls and text, on T-Mobile, that might get me. Idk. Sometimes I just gotta let the BlackBerry dream go. The Pixel is my new blackberry.
I went for the Gigaset GX6, since it falls under EU regulations. Despite it being an Android, it's at least manufactured in Germany. It's odd, I've been on BB Priv since 2016, but the last year has been rough when it comes to keeping it going. The Gigaset has made me happy so far. It's been a couple of weeks, and the battery is fantastic. I've charged it three times since getting it, and it's currently at 40 percent. But still, I miss the Priv keyboard like crazy.
I left the Passport for a Priv only because I got tired of side loading apps. Most of the side loaded or alternative apps were good, but they all seemed to have some little quirk... Crashes, missing features, constantly having to re-install, etc. I got lazy. Lol
Have used my Classic on T Mobile. Apps are questionable response. Unihertz Pocket is mechanically advantageous. Software is somewhat comprised. BB OS10 is superior to Android11.
Deep down, I will always be a Blackberry Crackberry, no matter what... praying for the day for a rebirth. What if MOTOROLA teams up with Blackberry and create a modern day Blackberry if they can do the Thinkphone?
@@StevealiciousTech doing pretty well so far. Part of the reason I got it out was to see how Instagram behaves, and apart from a 12min reboot (lol) it's alive 😅
I think our only hope would be if Elon Musk bought the BlackBerry patents, in which case I would be more interested if he built a BB10 based phone.... One can dream, right?
Whatsapp moving to android 5 runtime. It will stop working on bb10 in less than 6 months. Google maps can't be used. Classic has the best keyboard of all time but its time to jump ship.
@@StevealiciousTech yes. In the U.S.A. It still allows me to use as a phone, send/text, use gmail, and my favorite 3rd Twitter client Blaq. However, IGrann is useless. Can't sync any hotmail or Microsoft exchange email, tasks, or calendar. Pretty much a more simplistic phone device with limited email and 3rd party use. But yes. All here in the U.S.A.
