Well, the MOTO X 2013 wasn't a so good phone, but 2014 was a lot better. I think the same would happen blackberry.

Just wait a bit, hope the price will drop over Christmas. Also I think they will have the software updated till then. It's said to get the android 6 update in January if I'm not mistaken

With regards to the back's floppy bend, the phone is cupped easier on the holder's palm when is use and flattens on flat surfaces.

That tiny button in the middle is a mute button. Unfortunately most people don't know that since it's something android users probably haven't seen but its been there on all BB devices since the Z10. Although not a really important feature its always handy

I like it, I'm tired of all the phones looking the same. Every other phone looks the same on the front and the back always gets covered by a cheap case because they are so slippery. I used to have a Z30 with the same material as the Priv and that material is so grippy and smooth sometimes you just want to hold the device for no reason. Software wise it's android with good specs, worst case scenario is you won't like the blackberry features and you just end up downloading nova launcher. Camera is more than enough for the couple of photos I take every month or so.

Not a bad looking device at all IMO, I just always had a tough time typing on blackberry's tiny button keyboards and my hands are by no means big, but still, I commend Blackberry for making a solid device....finally.

The original batch in UK made a continuous beep when camera was turned on. The keyboard slide rocked and made a cluncky sound. I returned it.

I tend to agree with the review. If Blackberry can learn from the (few) missteps made in the PRIV, they can certainly become competitive in the Android market. Blackberry made quite an effort with the PRIV, and with a few minor tweaks (mostly to camera and software integration) they could grab considerable market share. I like it a lot and I will be migrating very soon from my present iPhone to the PRIV. *Waiting for the price to drop a bit more and hoping for some software upgrades to address the present issues.

I always read cell phone reviews with a bit of interest and wonder why the reviewers haven't been snatched up by Samsung to make it perfect, or HTC, or whomever. I use multiple phones in my business, IPhone 6, Motorola, HTC, and several Blackberries (Z10, Z30, Passport and Classic). There is a reason I use them - none of the others can actually do some of the things a BB can do (they can do some but not all) - expandable storage, the hub, calling out of the notes section of a contact, access to my computers without a cloud service, saving docs to the computer when I am out of town, plus a number of other things, including backing up my work computer weekly to the BBs. In spite of the fact that the Priv isn't perfect, I can't wait for Verizon to get it - the idea of running a BB on Android, perfect or not, is something I look forward to - BB security, the Hub, expandable storage, the keyboard, ability to change languages without changing keyboards, yeah, count me in!

Why would you have to slide the screen up to wake the phone??? You can change options to include a double tap wake.

I used it but it remains outdated even when it was launched, missing some things which were need of time when it was launched like fingure sensor, poorest front camera, not a handy, often gets hot, lags and sometimes user feel it's slower as compare to it's contenders, processor can be better as it's contenders are using Octa Core but blackberry chose Hexa Core (poor processor from Qualcom), lastly despite having big battery but it drains out quickly, may be due to processor.

I hope you guys can give me a hand. I'm by no means a heavy user, and I rarely play games on a smartphone. Trouble is, my current phone (Android, HSDPA only) became useless after my provider changed all the plans to 4G, so I'm now in the process of choosing a new device. Should I buy this one or the Nokia Lumia 1520? Both of them can be found at $300 on Ebay, brand new. My girlfriend handed me a Lumia 635 (to keep myself communicated in the meantime) and I've fallen in love with the Windows Phone OS. I don't want to spend more than $300 on an unlocked phone. Which one should I pick?

***** Trouble is, I have to admit that the Nokia 1520, as awesome as it can be, is a 3 year old phone, and that worries me. I needed a phone to last for at least 2 years. That and Amazon's excellent price for the Moto X Pure ended up convincing me.

***** One way or another, I've always bought only Motorola phones. Mi first one was a nice Timeport, back on 2002. Beautiful phone. Then I got a Motorola Silver L7. My last one was a Razr XT910 which still works well but got useless for phone calls since it doesn't have 4G network support.

um.. to be fair, please also highlight : 1. it's DUAL EDGE SCREEN with better functionality than the gimmicky edge feature of the s6 edge plus 2. it's a security focus phone like the blackphone not only in DTEK but also hardware level so review it like the blackphone 3. the hub functionality is more than just a messages center, you don't need to jump between apps to open different messages 5. about the price, the priv is 5,5 inch phablet, so if you want to compare, compare it with the S6 edge PLUS, and iPhone 6S PLUS price 6. the physical keyboard is for accuracy purpose, when you're writing a long text like e-mails and documents you'll notice that the virtual keyboard does typo a lot compared to physical keyboard. So don't treat it like a strange addition, it has purpose. 7. but the virtual keyboard in bb priv is also best in class (arguably, this is my opinion) 8. many people still uses BBM, your channel is broadcasting worldwide so please at least read the website before saying no body is using it Blackberry tag line : 'Serious Mobility for Serious Business' if you want a toy, don't even look at it btw I'am Galaxy user :)

I wish they would have gone the route of the droid form factor. I always like the side keyboard more than the slide up. Also could have made it a removable battery... I just feel like this phone is just off slightly in too many areas..feels dated already just my opinion

to everyone who says bbm is dead in the arabic gulf we use it a lot specialy in saudi arabia the blackberry market is still good in Saudi arabia because BlackBerry is simple and wonderfull designe I have use : BlackBerry curve and bold and Z10 and Z30 right now I am in Z10 and I well get prev when its get cheaper BlackBerry is great company because they are still strong even with the mistakes they do to be honest I love BlackBerry and I well keep using it

+Saket Seshadri Most of those issues will be fixed with frequent updates in the next few weeks. The Priv 2 will have a better KB and hardware. Vienna will have a good KB and a full metal body like the Passport.

Im not to concerned with the poor implementation of their software suite to android, im confident in a few months theyll patch that and get it right. Even though this bb looks great, I think im gonna stick it out for the priv 2, by then I think bb will get it right.

so my droid turbo broke I downgraded to a droid mini I had lying around I broke that too I downgraded again and well Droid 4 was my last stand and nothing beats a physical keyboard in my opinion and showing off a phone not seen in years people really didn't know what phone I had and liked it DRoiD Fam👌🏼 Upgraded to iOS still love android over being babysit on the os

Dam I wish blackberry would have had a home run with this phone regardless I'm getting one because I'm a huge blackberry fan most people think I'm crazy for being one. My very first phone was a blackberry and I miss the keyboard and these onscreen keyboards are getting to me Idk if I type too fast or the keyboards I use but I always have to auto correct my own self. The blackberry keyboard was nice the onscreen one I had the Z10, Q10,Z30 and I was almost about to get the passport silver edition but I knew this was coming out but I'm hoping that blackberry update all areas that's grey and this became a legendary blackberry.

Anthony Roberts um, it doesn't really matter if they've just started in the Android market. The point is this phone isn't exceptional by any standards, and now the only defining feature it has is a mediocre keyboard. At least you could say before that people MIGHT buy a BlackBerry for the software, but now they've got a lightly skinned version of Android with a few not very useful features, why wouldn't people think this is the last nail in the coffin? I think you are being a bit too optimisitc about this phone, a lot of the reviewers are saying this is a decent phone, but by no means is it a life saver for BlackBerry. This would have been alright if they released it when they were in the position when they released the z10, but unfortunately, its not.

+Rohan Ninan It has nothing to do with being optimistic or not. Do you really think their first android phone is going to be amazing in every single aspect?!?! Who said it is the mail hary...even JC said himself we have a range of devices to come and we all know those will be android powered and said that the Priv is NOT the hail mary but a step in the right direction with android powered devices. I am just tired of hearing the same nonsense...I hear that with the Z10 "last nail in the coffin"...the classic "last nail in the coffin" the passport "last nail in the coffin" and now the slider "last nail in the coffin". Now if they were in major debt with zero cash in hand then I would completely agree with you. I personally could care less truly about the reviews because they expect this phone to compete against a Nexus Device or samsung device when those players been in the android game for years and years. So far I know about 10 people who switched to this phone from BB10 and android note users and some iPhone users and they love the device. This device is barely a month old....phones get better with software updates...that is when a phone shines. Is after the feedback from customers and through updates. Even the Moto X wasn't the best phone when it came out but with OS updates it got 10 times better :) The only gripe I have about this device is that front facing camera is HORRIBLE!!!!!

you're right, not every first phone is great, but BlackBerry were in a position right now in which they needed to make a perfect smartphone. "next time" isn't really an option for a company like this. They are in no position where people will say, "alright, next year might be better". No no no, even the CEO said that if this phone doesnt do well, this will probably be their last phone. and guess what, this phone isn't doing that well in terms of reviews, and i can expect it won't do that well in terms of sales, as bout 90% of the people buying smartphones dont care about specs, they care about ease of use, design and brand. Thats why Apple sell a ridiculous amount of phones. People don't really care about the specs, and they certainly aren't going to buy a BlackBerry phone for more than an iPhone
