During engineering work north of Preston, Blackburn was host to diverted traffic normally routed over the West Coast Main Line. Locomotives seen in this clip include 43080, 43084, 43090, 47547, 47569, 47635, 47971, and 47976.
I love this type of thing & I am not even a spotter. lol. There are some BR safety videos around on RU-vid also. VERY atmospheric for those of us middle aged and a bit older who remembers when trains were "proper ones", & not plastic, >tupperware boxes> types.
Blackburn used to get hsts? I’ve often wondered why Blackburn and Bolton don’t get a direct London service whilst places like brighouse and mirfield do.
When ther was engineering wotk on the West coast mainline between Preston and Carlisle, trains would be diverted onto the Settle-Carlisle line as far as Hellifield and then go to Preston via Clitheroe, Whalley and Blackburn.
