I am a Utd fan and they where the days when we feared playing Blackburn. Had brilliant away days at Ewood. Let's hope they come back up where they belong.
I miss this Rovers squad... Brad Friedel, Robbie Savage, Morten Gamst Pedersen (even though he still plays for us), David Bentley, Tugay, Ryan Nelsen, Brett Emerton, Lucas Neill, Steven Reid, Matt Derbyshire etc. ♥
excellent blackburn team .. friedel has perhaps been the most underrated premier league gk ever .. he still holds the record for the most consecutive starts in the premier league .. and it took hugo loris quite a while to knock a 41yr old friedel off the number one spot at spurs .. friedel is a premier league legend in my opinion
I’m a united fan and I always loved it when we played vs Blackburn always an unpredictable game I felt so bad for the club when those stupid Venkys took over and ruined such a good club
AHR SoccerPerformance appreciated from a Rovers fan. We had some ding dong but you had the ref in your pocket (like Gallagher’s ‘goal’ at OT) so still hate you😉
Even though he's not the most iconic or best player in Blackburn, Morten Gamst Pedersen is always a cult legend for everyone started watching Premier League around mid 2000s :)
I'm a Man Utd fan, but ever since those days under Mark Hughes I've had a soft spot for Blackburn. In that 05/06 season they played some great stuff, and obviously managed to beat us twice. Such a shame to see Rovers where they are now. Hope they can get back up to the Premier League where they belong soon.
blackburn are a team i cannot help but like and my family always seem to have had a soft spot for them! we are all die hard everton fans and all season ticket holders but despite this i and both my brothers have owned and still own blackburn rovers shirts and me and my oldest brother attended the game a couple of seasons ago at ewood against burnley! I wish you the best of luck with your new owners and just make sure you don't beat everton next season ;-)
I was at this match - great game for the team and Bentley in particular having only signed the day before. This was the first Premier League hat trick United ever conceded I think. I loved it when Ferdinand played against us as for a few seasons against Blackburn he seems to have a predilection to give rovers an assist somewhere in the game for at least one of the goals.
As do I CIW1985. I have been a Rovers fan all my life and when they were in the Premiership, the money allocated wasn't enough. Plus the fan base dwindled and sponsorship wasn't there to allow Blackburn to be competitive. It's sad but I do hope that this season 2019/20 they get back to the premiership and stay there.
I remeber going to this game, one of my first aways i ever went to only 12-13 years old Gettin the train from moston to blackburn and freezing my tits off, Remeber being crushed after Ruud's goal haha, 22 seconds in the 2 kids on the front row behind the goal are me n my mate. Eventhough we lost it was an awesome game end to end and david bentley was quality back then.
This was an amazing night and an amazing season. What a performance from Bentley. It should have been Blackburn's 4th consecutive home win in the league over Man Utd, but unfortunately in 2004/2005 Man Utd scored a last gasp equaliser following a blatant handball by Saha. Occasionally under in the Premier League era under Ferguson, one Man Utd's direct rivals whether it was Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool or Man City did the double over them. But how often in the did a 'smaller' club do it during Fergie's reign? Apart from Blackburn in 2005/2006 but I can't think of other examples. Allardyce's Bolton were minutes/seconds away from doing it in 2002/2003.
garethdwright91 good shout I forgot about that. Also City did the double over them in 2007/2008 before they were taken over by the Abu Dhabi group and when they were a mid-table club. This was the first time that any player scored a hat-trick against Utd in the Premier League era, and the first time that a ‘smaller’ club did the double over them for 12 years since Chelsea in 1993/1994 (they were a mid-table club until 1996/1997).
