Blackburn Town Centre-20 Years On-Pt 1 

I'm afraid you are correct Louis. I went on the 'market' last Thursday when my cousin was up from Northamptonshire to get some Sarsparilla drops and Coltsfoot Rock. It really is a soulless place. The stall holders are doing their best but I remember the jolly atmosphere that even the 3 day market had. Going down Darwen Street is apart from The Postal Order appalling with fast food joints. I often wonder how it is that multiple properties selling the same stuff can make a profit after paying what must be extortionate rental charges?? Can anyone help me out here please.

I don't remember the exact place where Woolworths was located and that lovely cafe with the circular windows. It's either because my memory is hazy or they changed it beyond recognition.

@@louissmith1393 Wollies was on the corner of Church Street across from the White Bull and the El Grecco cafe was near Lord Square near the gas showrooms.

Oh okay. I miss going in the old El Greco and experiencing the atmosphere. It's the smallest things like the cigarette smoke that I miss. (This was in the days before the smoking ban.) There was a new El Greco nearby that's now closed. The food was decent but it just wasn't the same.

Will Scarlett. You can say that again Will! Our once proud Brewery Thwaites has just had its buildings and fittings destroyed by bloody travellers on their way to Appleby. Problem was, the Police basically allowed them to destroy historic buildings that now will be demolished and a bloody supermarket built on the site. Thanks for watching my video Will.

The social engineering that has taken place over the last 50 odd years has failed simply because of this country's failure to insist that people coming here to live aren't expected to learn English, abide by our rules and contribute 100% to the country's economy. In other words, like every other country in the world expects when WE go to live there! Now of course we have illegal immigrants actually given more freedom than indigenous people!! Totally agree. Add the fact that a large proportion of the town's population simply have no interest in the town's history and you end up with a town like this.
