Blackburn Town Centre-20 Years On-Pt 2 

I really miss the old Blackburn town centre especially the old market and Reedys music store on Penny street. Many good memories visiting my Grandma in Blackburn every school holiday in the 90s and early 00s. My Grandad worked in Thwaits for several decades. And I think the new bus station was a complete waste of money to be honest.

The place looks modern enough ! But the town I grew up in and loved, is no more ! RIP is probably appropriate for today, I wont be moving back, But my cherished memories can never be erased.

Got to miss El Greco.

Bloody hell, Peter and his Mum on the Sarsaparilla stall. Every week my friend, a glass of pure health. They're just going through a modernisation process in Warrington. The market is just like Blackburn, minus Peter and his Mum, but I can still get honeycomb tripe off another stall. I'm a bit wary of it, because sometimes I don't think modernisation is necessarily an improvement. Plus they seemed to have factored in a bloody massive council building that Darth Vader would be proud of. Anyway...

Aah my 1st baby was born in June 95 and now she has her own baby girl 2017, in 2015 she was pregnant too. Crazy... I can't believe it... I was pregnant and she was pregnant with part 2...it's like part 2 of my life (to me) thankyou for doing it, I do like looking at memories

...that hideous new 'Hotel' is where the Palace cinema was...where I saw 'Jaws' ! It used to be a music hall, where George Formby's dad appeared. What was wrong with the Boulevard before, exactly..?

Marks And Spencers is leaving the town centre next. All the banks have basically gone nearly.. Mostly takeaways now :( Debenhams is now a job centre.

B+M where tesco was is now gone. something called one beyond. BHS closed. And wilko's went in there. But now Wilko's is gone and B+M is going in there.

It's gone drastically down hill since even this time Blackburn is just a collection of charity shops now all the best shops have gone WHS was the last good one

Argos left. And Toysrus came in. then a carpet place... now stands totally empty.

Can't believe what has happened to Blackburn, it's heart has been torn out, and for what? Nice tarmac but bereft of any character, thought I'd go back to look at my home town, don't think I'll bother now, nothing to see only the usual mall, not allowed to video the market, hmm, I wonder why, at least Preston has retained some history. Sign off now before I get bitter. Wonder where the money came from and who authorised the desecration of Blackburn, bet they don't live local.

That lift has gone now today (22.09.17) 23:52 that whole area is a gym now that big hole is a floor with nails/eyebrow shop on.

You should see state of Blackburn now... the lift in the middle is gone. and that whole down stairs floor is gone just an upper level now.. no way up or down.. Blackburn really is crap now. Morrisons is to be demolished next. They have demolished Thwaites! and morrisons is going there and new units..
