At that time a friend worked in a record shop & sometimes he came up with rare records and/or even bootlegs or just with records from (here in Switzerland) unknown but great rock musicians/bands. One day he came and said with shining eyes: "Listen to this!" (it was the "Highway Song Live" album) and i was flashed by the energy of this music. A few months later there was a concert of our local (swiss) heroes Krokus with the supporting act Blackfoot. It was this concert and it was only horrible, how they soundmixed them down to almost making the songs unrecogniseable ... Apparently they didn't dare to provide the musicians with the same sound system as Krokus was using. Blackfoot = Great Rock Music!

Roger that brother! When I was 20 yrs old I came to the chance theatre in Poughkeepsie , ny from Massachusetts to visit friends and to see Blackfoot. When it came time for them to play highway song rick pulled me up to sing it with them. I was f###### floored. That was a great moment for me. I had seen them many times in Poughkeepsie at the mid-Hudson civic center when I was working there.Rick called me little brother. Such a great memory for me.

I'm old by years. I'm 63. I purchased the vinyl copy of strikes when I was 19. I still have the vinyl album. It's still pristine, even after it having been played 100s, if not more, of times. I have had this song in my car ever since, be it on cassette, CD, memory card or as it is now, saved to the internal memory in my car entertainment system. The car I have now is the only car with less than 3000 watts of power. There is nothing like the feeling of your car thumping under your a.s... rolling down the highway with the volume set to hypersonic levels listening ot this song. My stereos, the concerts I have seen and especially this song will the cause of my hearing loss. Long live the Medlocke brothers!!!

I was in Jacksonville during the 70's & 80's. I saw All of them play in the bars around town - Skynyrd - 38 special - Molly Hatchett - Blackfoot and even though the Allman Brothers Band is from Georgia they actually formed in Jacksonville. For a season we were the RockNRoll capitol of the world and Ronnie was the King. It was a magical time, that passed to soon with way to many deaths. RIP

All of those bands had great guitarists! I would venture to say if you couldn't play, you couldn't hang in the Jacksonville music scene back in the day. Unlike LA or New York where it's all glitz and glamour, at the end of the day the talent is what keeps you going.

Why was this band so underrated I'll never know why. I can listen to every song on this strikes album. Not to many bands can do that.

I had the good fortune of seeing them live once in 1998, and this song blew me away. The ending jam on this is on the level of that in Freebird. It's too bad we don't see enough straightforward rock these days.

Has anyone really thought about how influential Jacksonville, FL has been on music? Lynyrd Skynyrd, .38 Special, Blackfoot, etc. I know there were lots of changes in personnel, some by necessity but so many of their songs have stood the test of time and still get radio play. It must have been something in the water down there.

Diffenity want this played at my funeral service. Love Blackfoot, and Ricky Medlock.... Highly underated band. Saw Blackfoot in 1992 at Cadillac's bar and grill in Hickory NC twice. Amazing live band. Actually got to shoot some pool, and drink a few margaritas with Ricky at one of the shows there before they started playing. Ricky is a truly down to earth guy, offered to pay for our drinks, Ricky said no I got it. Great memories indeed...

This song rocks. Blackfoot gave us highway song, lynard skynard gave us free bird, kansas gave us dust in the wind. Indeed, the souths gonna do it again and again ( CDB ), southern rock rules........

THE BEST 4 piece band of all time. Seen them live several times - including with RATT and Def Leppard. Fantastic, energetic shows and they blew the headliners off the stage. Medlocke and Hargrett were the best dual lead guitar slammers in Rock. Spires with his powerhouse slamming and Walker with his subsonic rumble kept the music driving. And Medlocke is one of the best frontmen holding a guitar in Rock. Another great band forced to implode by record execs. They were a band ahead of their time.

When I saw Blackfoot in the early 80s, the coliseum was sold out. During the slow part of the song at 3:10 it was prolonged a bit and I'll never forget this part. Every Bic lighter in the house was lit and as I looked around, no one said a word. The band had the complete, undivided and silent attention of everyone in the coliseum. Front to back, side to side and top to bottom. I'll bet you at least 40,000 lit up the place. One word describes this experience. Unfuckingbelievable!

There are a large handful of "Epic" southern rock songs... "Dreams" (Alman Bros), "Fall Of The Peacemakers" (Molly Hatchet), "Green Grass And High Tides" (Outlaws), and pretty much everything by Lynyrd Skynyrd and this is certainly in that list!

Heard the "Highway song live" album (recorded in the U.K) in 1983 and fell in love. I was 13 years old and was cruising with my brother and one of his friends in a Volvo Amazon. Played it loud as hell. Now I'm 54 and I still love that record. One of the best live albums ever!!! What a great band.
