Thankyou Ruds for always getting straight to the facts. Many razor reviewers chatter about things that are irrelevant to the details of the actual razor. Thankyou for your clear cut straight to the point distraction free presentations. It really helps viewers make informed decisions. Subscribed!
That was a VERY impressive review Ruds! Shane really does now what he's doing, doesn't he. 195 is a bit steeper than I was expecting, but I think this just went on my list of razor's I think I NEED! lol.
Quite a thorough endorsement, Ruds, and on every seemingly possible point regarding an SE razor. I don't whether I was just in the groove of your vibe, but when you were done shaving with this Blackland Vector, you appeared to be "cleaner" than ever. Looks like a fine, fine instrument. Now, because I'm curious (and am not going to ask you to list your reasons), I'm going to search your videos to see what you might have listed as the knock(s) against a Feather Artist Club. Getting back to this video, it was one heck of a vicarious pleasure, identifying with you as you shaved your dome. Very well done, with a fine instrument and by a steady-handed pro. Thanks for directing me to this search, Ruds. Best wishes. Cheers.
Thanks for the suggestion. I do not think that is a good comparison though. The materials of construction offer too many variables to make comparing them meaningful.
After seeing your review I ordered the Vector from west coast shaving. After using it today it’s by far the best razor I have used in my short time in the wet shaving world. I started out with a shavette style Parker it gave a great shave but I got a lot of nicks and cuts not so then I switched to electric shaving which worked out great but just wasn’t close enough so I ordered the bevel system. The DE in the system is nice very mild but I can’t get used to the angling so when I seen your review and a few others I instantly knew that the vector could work for me . So thanks for your review and if you know of any other AC SE razors that are good let me know , I’d love to have it join my arsenal.
I bit the bullet on this one!! Jyst got it!! Wish I got it sooner. Efficient and smooth! Definitely high quality workmanship. Thanks again...sort of! 😉 haven't steered me wrong yet! Greg B.
Great shave and review. I’m looking for another premium razor, but I want a DE. I have the ATT SE 1&2, I think that this blackland razor would be too much overlap.
How does it perform on face, I’m very interested in this but will be shaving my face & neck only, can you please do a face shave review on this razor thank you sir
A nice looking piece of kit. Alas every single SE offering apart from the Schick injector has not treated my face well at all. Getting the lead out and sliming down the head is a great move however and just leaves the 'suck-salad' of blade choice to deal with. Great review mate !
After watching this review you did Ruds, it prompted me into placing an order for a vector straight away, so thank you for doing it. Shane sent me an email yesterday saying my order had been shipped but because I live in England it may take a few days, maybe longer. Like you I shave my head, but because my DE razor is unpredictable I use it only for face shaving, for my head I use a Gillette Fusion which is ok, but gets clogged up easily, so I’m looking forward to trying the vector.
@@dendj55 Because I’ve never used an SE razor, Shane recommend I order a mongoose sampler from tryablade which I’ve done, however I’ve been using my DE razor for over 7 years, ( face shaving ) so I’d feel confident using just about any AC blade in that area, therefore I’ve also ordered 20 feather pro. I’ve also been reading good things about Schick Proline P-30 blades, so I’ll probably be ordering some of those.
@@dendj55 Hi Ruds, my Vector order was delivered earlier today and because I couldn’t wait I decided to shave both my face and head more or less straight away. However first, from the photos I’d seen of the vector I liked its look, but it looks even better seeing it for real, and holding it it feels very comfortable. Onto the shave, because I’m new to SE Artist Club shaving I decided to order a mongoose sampler from tryablade which was delivered at the same time as the vector. Looking at the 8 blades I chose the Feather - Soft Guard for my first shave. When shaving my face I like to do 2 passes, with the grain first then against, and going with the grain there was quite a bit of tugging from the soft guard, however going against there wasn’t as much tugging and the result was a close shave with no cuts, weepers or anything. My head next, I only go in one direction and that’s against the grain, and it was a very enjoyable shave, this time with hardly any tugging and manoeuvring the vector was very easy, the result again was a close shave with no cuts or weepers, in fact there was no blood anywhere. Now if it hadn’t been for the initial tugging it would’ve been a very enjoyable face shave, but that was obviously down to the blade I used, my guess is that Soft Guard was the least sharp of the mongoose sampler, so with the other blades I should get a very comfortable shave. Lastly, because I loved using the Vector for both face and head, I don’t think I’ll be using my DE razor or Fusion again, however I do like to have more than one razor in use, so if Andrew owner of Paradigm decides to do another Titanium SE then I’ll strongly consider buying one.
Sorry bringing up an old video. Now that you have had it for a year what is your opinion on head shaves? I ordered mine in Oct 19 and waiting on arrival. I dome shave every 3rd day. Can you do an updated dome shave with it?
@@williamdoll711 Hi, was wondering if, after getting the Vector, you found it any better than your Timeless Ti .95 DC, and whether it has replaced it as your main head shaver?
@@dsr9863 2 years strong with the Vector, I love it. My head shavers are the Leaf for fast mindless head shaves only. Hate face shaves with it, the Vector is beautiful for both. The Timeless Titanium.95OC/Scalloped I have comes in at a close second to the Vector as a do all. Hope this helps. If you are on the fence about the Vector, don't be. Throw in a Shick P-30 and enjoy. All 3 are great head shavers but for face... IMHO the Vector beats the Timeless. None of them will leave the Den. If you are looking for an adjustable, look no further than the Rocnel Sailor.
@@williamdoll711 Thank you for prompt reply! When you say the Vector beats the Timeless, may I ask how… more efficient, smoother, both? And, assuming you got the machined SS Vector, do you notice any drag at all? With the machined finish rather than polished….?
I have the vector arriving on monday, I'm reading in forums about sharp edges on the top cap and people feeling like it scratches the skin. Did you notice this at all with your vector?
I’ve not experienced this. I’m currently on a month long work assignment and have shaved my head daily with the Vector and not scratched myself at all with the top cap. Don’t know if I’m lucky or have just learned the razor.
@@dendj55 Thanks for the info, and reviews. I love the design of this razor and can't wait for it to arrive. I'm not a single edge fan but this razor really peaked my interest and after watching your review and how in the past se's weren't your thing either is what ultimatley led me to give this one a go.
Just shaved with the Vector for the first time and man this thing is Awesome. My only complaint was a few sharp edges an the top plate back side of the razor, I contacted Blackland and they are going to see about send out a replacement and give me free return shipping on the one with sharp edges
Very nice razor. Have you ever tried (or do you have any intention of trying) the OmniShaver for head shaves? Not as attractive as the Vector, but very quick in use and affordable -- /watch?v=U14uMtGrFwk
