Completly speakless ...i am comming from Judas Priest over Joan Beaz and now i have tears in my eyes ....this performance is breathtaking. Thank you so much ✊🏼
Bump? Has mankind forgotten about this? Only slightly < 750k views in 10 years is a disgrace. All hail to Richie and Candice for such an awesome version of an all time great folk tune.
This version and Judas Priest's live version I have watched hundreds of times over the years. Absolutely memorizing. I'll never, ever tire of them. Perfection.
the group's music is beautiful, I never knew Blackmore didn't use a pick. Have they ever won a grammy? They sure deserve a grammy more than the lizzie's and adele's and billie englishes and harry stiles who are getting them now.
"Well you burst on the scene already a legend: the unwashed phenomenon, the original vagabond" the lines are directed at Bob Dylan, but it's funny how well they fit Ritchie too!
The singing, while nice enough, is not as intense as either Rob Halford or (obviously) Joa Baez' versions. Blackmore's guitar, on the other hand, is a lot more complex than anything the Judas Priest guitarists could pull off in their dreams, let alone on stage. That said--I like the Priest version better, but, as so many have reflected, it's a matter of taste. Nothing against this one.
One of the best live perfomance ever happened! one of the times that live is much better than the original!.... absolutely masterpiece. in my favorite since 2012!
This is excellent. It's brimming over with feeling, respectful of the original material and doing something with it as well, everything a cover should be.
I've always felt that Candace was "the guitar player's girl friend" type of singer. Not bad but nothing special. After hearing this, I may change my mind - beautiful
Blackmore's bands, both Purple and Rainbow, always sounded great live. Even better than in studio. Many of their live albums are considered among the best ever recorded.
A stellar rendition, indeed. But for me Baez still clearly reigns supreme. After all, when she sings you feel it was about HER love lost, HER staggering pain of loss, HER memories, HER unrequited love. Additionally, Baez's voice, technically and emotionally, is superior.
@@MoreLifePlease Taking nothing away from Candice, but Joan Baez shared a highly personal song really intended for just one person's ears. Joan must have been very bitter about her breakup with Bob. That bitterness remains palpable even many years later. Still, Joan recognized her own brilliance and decided to share her song and original guitar work with her legion of fans. Good on her, an amazingly talented lady.
Well I'll be damned Here comes your ghost again But that's not unusual It's just that the moon is full And you happened to call And here I sit Hand on the telephone Hearing a voice I'd known A couple of light years ago Heading straight for a fall As I remember your eyes Were bluer than robin's eggs My poetry was lousy you said Where are you calling from? A booth in the midwest Ten years ago I bought you some cufflinks You brought me something We both know what memories can bring They bring diamonds and rust Well you burst on the scene Already a legend The unwashed phenomenon The original vagabond You strayed into my arms And there you stayed Temporarily lost at sea The Madonna was yours for free Yes the girl on the half-shell Would keep you unharmed Now I see you standing With brown leaves falling around And snow in your hair Now you're smiling out the window Of that crummy hotel Over Washington Square Our breath comes out white clouds Mingles and hangs in the air Speaking strictly for me We both could have died then and there Now you're telling me You're not nostalgic Then give me another word for it You who are so good with words And at keeping things vague Because I need some of that vagueness now It's all come back too clearly Yes I loved you dearly And if you're offering me diamonds and rust I've already paid
Its superb performance! The best its here in youtube. But besides that: I always frown a bit when I hear "light years ago"...its a distance unit :-D but I know...its poetic
Cantata e sapendo le parole la versione della Baez mi è sempre piaciuta anche se mi sembrava una ballata ma questa interpretazione è un pezzo d anima .Stupenda
No, no it's not. The acoustic version by Judas Priest is far, far better (and Rob Halford doesn't smile all the way through while singing it...just saying. :) )
She doesn't have a great voice, but a good one that fits their music, which I really enjoy, perfectly. She has great personality and presence. Throw in the costumes and the fact that she's just beautiful, and you have a really nice presentation. I could watch and listen to their videos all day.
Tim Ripper live version is bone chilling. Cant put my finger on it but something annoys me about Candice Night. Loved Blackmore in Rainbow (DIO years) but never been a fan of Blackmore's Night.
Difiero... Baez es una soprano con una voz increíble! :3 todas las versiones tan solo hacen alusión a la diversidad. Pero en si, yo considero esta canción como una obra maestra.
And here I sit Hand on the telephone I'm hearing a voice I'd known A couple of light years ago Heading straight for a fall Far be it from me to urinate all over everyone else's enjoyment, but this verse contains what you might call a scientific faux pas.
