We can't answer all the comments but I'll try to sum it up. 1. Views are counted via ALGORITHM & AI. There is no human interference. There cannot be. 300hrs of videos are uploaded on RU-vid EVERY MINUTE. So RU-vid technically cannot have an 'agenda' against a video. It is all done by an automatic formula based process. So all the blame and anger is basically 'hating on a machine'. 2. Freezing and deletion is a thing that happens to all sorts of videos, regardless of kpop groups. This has been proved in so many cases already. 3. Kpop MVs have a tendency to get MORE views deleted because of the streaming culture (which means non-true views). THE BIGGER THE FANDOM, THE MORE DELETED VIEWS - VERY EASY MATH. The special kpop fandom culture is unique and not found as much in, for example, pop music. People don't 'stream' VEVO MVs to the extent of kpop fans, pop music simply have a bigger audience(US, English speaking countries) with a huge population. 4. Yes, BTS has grown organically. Streaming breaks records, achieves publicity, ranks in charts. It's all positive. I streamed too. But we cannot deny the stigma from people 'outside of kpop' reacting to these broken records or views saying 'oh it's just those kpop fans watching the videos over and over 1000 times, the views don't matter after all, it's just their own league. Kpop is overrated and inflated'. This, phenomenon already exists in Korea. That's why the GP distrusts Melon Charts, Music shows, etc. and label idols as 'idols', 'not-real music'. Because the public already knows the charts are just a representation of fans streaming over and over, buying albums. Thus, In order to break that perspective, ORGANIC growth should continue. MUSIC should be the focus, not views. 5. LETS ASSUME, that RU-vid does respond and listen. BUT, streaming on multiple devices, for hours, literally not having eyeballs on the video is technically not a view for RU-vid. They would say 'YOU DIDNT WATCH IT', 'Our advertisers are not going to pay for that'. The argument or logic can backfire and there is plenty of evidence just on social media.
I hope you keep that same energy with other groups as well then. Because Blackpinks company YG entertainment uses their "views" to try and say they're more popular then BTS in America and they aren't. And as an American I know BTS has the BIGGEST fanbase here and if anyone's views are legit out of Kpop streaming it's theirs. No other group should be getting views added back for NO REASON.

Those who gets views frozen and deleted still gets views added whereas BTS constantly gets views deleted. I agree mostly with what you said about streaming. I am one of the people who did stay up to stream the mv. My only problem is that youtube lied about deleting views. They literally said that they don't delete views, when they CLEARLY DO. I agree that you shouldn't force anyone to stream because like you said, everybody doesn't have the attention span or even the time to watch a video 500+ times. I stayed up to stream because I WANTED TO, and I want bts to break records, not everyone wants to do that, which is fine. if you're in a public army group you will see tons of people watching the video over and over again on multiple devices. they posted pics in chats and we clearly told them to stop that as it will mark them bots by the system but they're not listening. a lot even made playlist and played in on repeat while they're doing their things. think if millions of fans doing this all at the same time, its possible bwl will get more views deleted.

I would like to disagree with the streaming point. I watched the MV because I enjoyed it. If you would have seen the twts, alot, ALOT of Armys stressed on the health of each other. There were thoughtful comments by US armys etc when Asian armys were about to sleep and vice versa. We worked as a family connected by BTS throughout the globe and streamed for our boys.

They literally "accidentally" deleted several views, like almost all of them, from the DNA mv and then added them back. I don't believe in an algorithm after that.
ana9701 at this point all we can do is hold YT accountable by tracking when they delete and how much. YT is a snake when it comes to BTS. They literally deleted all of the views on Fake Love and DNA yesterday for a minute. And other groups get their views deleted, but never to this severity.
What DKDKTV don't articulate well is K-Pop is still not WELL KNOWN in the west by the general public. More exposure it gets by TRENDING, more will be shown on YT. Being aware of the genre will expose K-Pop to more people. More people talk about it, better it will be for K-Pop, and BTS. There is still negative attitude towards music from non western countries. More exposure will help with change in attitude also.

Latin American music is popular and normalized by now, so I think because kpop is from an asian country, I think its a lot harder to break the market, because of the low Asian American population in America, and all the stereotypes, discrimination, and racism that are normalized against Asian Americans and Asians in general that's been going on for such a long time so yea. I think the main reason Latin American music got so popular, because of the huge mexican population in the US. But I agree with you. More exposure, means more change in attitude and ignorance, and it becomes normalized. But, whether it was Latin American music, or any other foreign music, it became normalized over a long slow period of time.

People are more open minded about it now, I agree, and there's less of the stigma as you call it, it's a lot easier to break into the market, but there's still that language and cultural barrier at the moment. You smart boys! Also, I worked at an abortion clinic in the U.S.... we counseled all patients, and if they were multiple visit patients, it was obvious that they were abusing the right. That's why every patient got some version of birth control included with their appointment. Abortion in itself should not be used as regular birth control.... Now I'll address the "it's not saving lives" comment. In reality, it could be. Saving the life of the mother. People can go to extreme and dangerous measures to end a pregnancy if they don't have a safe option available to them. An unwanted pregnancy can result in an unwanted child. Those children suffer, unless they're lucky enough to be put up for adoption to good parents. The thing is, if you know you don't want a baby, you've got your own good reason for it. Knowing you can't provide, or knowing you're not mother material, or knowing that you're just not ready mentally.... they're all acceptable reasons and abortion is a responsible choice for someone who has these reasons, or can't take a pregnancy to full term due to embarrassment, or they know themselves enough to know they won't be able to part with it in order to let it be adopted. In reality, being selfish is not a bad thing. It's called self preservation and it's why we've survived as a species, at least in part. I'm proud of Korea for this and I'm very impressed. It's not going to solve everything in relation to unwanted pregnancy, but everyone deserves options when it concerns their own life or well being.

Thank you for this! I think there's a basic misunderstanding that leads many people to believe that pro-choice = pro-abortion and that's not true. Pro-choice is simply wanting to be able to make choices about how to manage your health and your life because a child is lifetime commitment. Life will never be the same after a child enters the picture, which is why it's important to allow people to bring a child into their lives under conditions in which they are ready and able to provide said child with a quality life. Otherwise, the parents AND the child will end up in an irreversibly shit situation. Genuine compassion should extend to everyone directly involved in a pregnancy (particularly the mother) and acknowledge that "birthing" doesn't equal "saving" if the child is can't be brought into a home that can offer it adequate physical, emotional, and financial support.

The more people stream, the more views get deleted. Let's say a tiny fanbase only gets 100k views in 1 hour but 10k deleted, they wouldn't even notice. Since masses streamed in the BTS cases, it's more obvious.

Literally no one cared about the 24hr view record until BTS broke it with Blood Sweat and Tears. I remember right after that, other fandoms started setting goals to break OUR record that we didnt even plan on. And now if you go to any comment section of any mv...all they talk about is views too
Personally I don't care if ARMY do or not. And for some it is something they enjoy and gives a sense of community and a goal. My issue with all this is people not understanding that RU-vid is a BUSINESS. One out to make money. I'll actually be honest - I agree with you guys. I own a fan account amd almost everyone was asking me to stop adding to my story about my life and go back to streaming and some of them were DMing me telling me to post on my story telling my followers to not listen to lyric videos and focus on the video. It felt almost suffocating to be honest because everyone was asking me to be a part of the rat race which I didn't want to be in. Here one point..if the fanbase is only focusing on yt.. getting 100000 of views is not the case..the fact that bts also hit #1 in itunes in 87 countries..just now it hit #1 UK albums.. all this is not the thirst of getting views... when u point out "armys saying others to stream n all" you should hv also pointed out the armys who continuously said that its ok n no one should sacrifice anything..i still respect your point of view..but if this a news then please show the other side too..
The problem is: I saw 90% of the fanpages posting days before already how to stream etc. This time it wasn't about trending. This time it was about breaking the record. That's why lots of people "forced" others to stream while ditching school/ work and even their health and daily routine. Kpop is no longer about talent, but about views. That's just crazy. After all, at the end of the day it's just music. No need to be obsessed to that extent.
I can see where you are coming from but to be honest I didn’t see a lot of that side going on. There where a few that I noticed but for the majority there was a lot of pressure to stream. There was also a lot of negativity centered around streaming that made me a little disappointed in our fandom

@@jazz3799 this was my first comeback but I didn't feel forced to stream. And my timeline was full of encouraging and positive tweets to enjoy the comeback. If you saw such negativity then I think you should try a different group of people. When I first got into the fandom I felt welcomed and I enjoy being an ARMY so I just think you're in contact with wrong ones... block report ignore the negativity and you'll have a wonderful time
I totally agree with you guys. I’ve been an Army since 2013 and I supported BTS through streaming before but the whole ”RU-vid views competition” is getting out of control these days ...
It makes me upset too at times. Especially since the overall opinion seems to become: more views = better quality of music. However we can't deny the fact that amount of youtube views is right now, is being used for (good) promotion in articles. It's one of the easiest things, media outlasts can use to impress non-fans with. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, just that it's a necessary evil as long as the influence of youtube seems to exist and grow.
Army legends I love you but ya’ll need to relax. I feel like some of you don’t even take the time to fully enjoy the comeback, instead of stressing about the views. Maybe yt is a snake but that’s something we’ll never know for sure, so why waste our energy being angry. I don’t know what it is about this comeback but it has just made me feel so happy. @Stan Ethereal Figures freezing of views happens to every kpop group. Deletions don't happen to anyone other than BTS. Especially on such a large scale where millions are taken away, and oddly at the same time on certain days.
abortion is a very philosophical topic and i think if you're a doctor, you should think about the patient and their health and not about your personal beliefs. or if you can't handle that, just don't work in that area you can talk and try to convince the woman to not have an abortion, but you shouldn't reject them Everyone knows what abortion is and nobody would just want to do it out of nowhere. there's reasons for that and you could try and understand them before judging that's just my opinion

I don’t think a doctor should reject any patients request as long as it doesn’t harm the patient. This does bring up the philosophical question of what determines what is “life”. Usually if it’s caught early on (1st trimester western time cause in Korea it’s a bit different) then I think the person who will have to care for the child should be able to make that decision for themself. However, after a certain point, I think it’s too late for abortion and potentially giving the child up for adoption is the only other alternative. Korea doesn’t have the best infrastructure for welfare services so if they won’t be able to actually care for the child and it’s caught early, I don’t see the issue.

Like I said this does bring in the philosophical question of “when does life begin?” But with euthanasia it’s a clearly alive person wanting to end their life because of pain. I mean.. i also "streamed" BWL, but it was like in 24h maybe 20 times with my phone and less or so with my tablet and i think that was enough for me to show the love that i have for the boys, and for the music that they have made. As an ARMY, i think i did my "part" and when i just saw that picture that Danny showed, the only thing i tought was that if any of the BTS members saw any of those kinds of pictures, would they really think those wiews as "real wiews".. I just dont think thats what they wanted out from this MV. Obviusly, wiews does count but if you cant enjoy the video or the music in the meantime, thats NOT why they did this song...
Like I understand more about the deleteing views thing, but I just don't understand the logic idk. The views are concidered valid one time but unvalid hours later? Even though the ad was played in that video and with all thoes threads how to stream like don't skip the ad and play the whole video... I don't get it why it's such a problem idk. Anyway it's nice breaking records on YT but for me Spotify and Itunes are much more valid platforms to stream, but since I'm not from the US I can't really help with charts and stuff so I feel kinda hopeless in streaming for BTS haha. I think it has quite something to do with the streaming guides. People just assumes that’s how youtube's algorithm(AI) works while literally nobody, probably except for the engineers that trained the AI, would know how it should work. I kind of get it, fandoms want to support their idols so badly that they'd come up with all sorts of nonsensical guidelines of what they believe is the most effective way of getting verified views. And then people that comes in with that presumption in the back of their mind would assumes that all the reflected view counts are done by the "supposedly" proper way, or not even that, they're just overjoyed to see the view counts going up so quickly. And so when it does get deleted people are obviously going to be mad, seeing all their hard works gone just like that. But at the end of the day, literally nobody fully knows how the AI works, not even the engineers maybe. So all those are mad should just calm down for a bit, and consider things for different perspectives other than their fandom’s agenda.

i agree with not mobbing ppl to stream, people have lives and priorities if you have enough time to stream for 24h then fantastic but not everyone does, respect that. but the view thing... im not so sure, there is either something wrong with their algorithms or something going on behind the scenes, i get the deleting of views and freezeng, that is a normal thing but what i find not normal is the difference in them on the first and second day. it is just not logical for deleting 10mil on the 2nd but only 4mil on the first when everything is hectic and the fandom is rushing. Also adding views for others especially kpop groups, other fandoms don't stream THAT much different from armys.

So I am a Med student and abortion is always been a hot topic, In my country there is a law that protect Doctors and they can declare to the law that they are not preforming abortion or even euthanasia, and is made to protect the personal ethics and religion, so is the Doctors personal choise if they do it or not, so I hope that they can came to an agreatment and be able to protect the interest of both sides. RU-vid literally deleted ALL the views from DNA and Fake Love yesterday and only added them back an hour later. Why were they even messing with the views when no one is streaming those videos anymore. And BWL lost over 20M views. But no other kpop groups face that kind of mass deletion it's just really weird.
Blackpink amazingly made a history by performing at the Coachella. They're like showcasing Asian talents and music. We should be proud of what they have achieved instead of defaming them. I get it that they only had mini albums but they were great music. They only proves that even if they only have 13 songs they have already performed world tours and at Coachella. I'm proud of the girls achievement so far.

I'm thankful that you covered deletion of views. Since you do have many subscribers and followers, they might listen to you. I've made several threads on twitter explaining streaming algorithm. Since I graduated with a degree in computer science and experience working as a programmer(system engineer). I tried explaining it logically and how basically YT counts them(IP detection & Human/Account behavior). But big accounts saying I'm causing panic. 😂 I've been constantly saying as well that YT doesn't have a vendetta against us. 😂
Actually you can feel that Korean society is changing just by watching recent kdrama or movies. I've felt it because I saw a kdrama recently which I haven't done in while and you know that the mentalities in Korea are changing. Totally amazing

I'm really glad you guys address the deleted views in the way you did, it made things so much easier to understand. I think it definitely makes sense that RU-vid would delete those views so that they wouldn't get in trouble with the people that sponsor the company. I do wish that RU-vid would have just stated as much instead of saying that they didn't delete views, because I think it would make fans hate them a lot less.

I feel like 10M "potentially spam" views from zombie/mass streaming by _fans_ in a short period of time back then are definitely possible, given BTS current popularity compared to any other groups or artists (who might already being well-known by the public worldwide, & not just by their fans) out there.

Even I believed before being an ARMy that views doesn't matter much. But when I became a part of this community, I saw how views mattered alot. It's a fact that higher views give more recognition. Not only ARMYs but other big fandom streams too for their idols but why are only ARMYs pointed out? We are one of the biggest fandoms but this doesn't mean that we should not stream only because we have enough views already.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought we streamed the mv for views because those are the parameters based on which artists get picked for award nominations and Not just for view counts per se.

I’m glad you said that about RU-vid, I’m glad your explanation was clear. It was always odd to me to think people were so obsessed with these RU-vid issues and streaming. Album sales and concerts are where it’s at, these money making ventures pay bills, puts money in their pocket, food on their plates, allows them to write more songs etc. the profit their agencies make from the MV post is nothing compared to concert sales.
Honestly, even I, as an army, am so annoyed of people telling me to stream bts videos. They're famous enough to get a great amount of views without all of the streaming. At this point it's just about wanting to break new records or showing off to other fandoms xD
Streaming isn't just for popularity reasons. A HUGE reason why us, K-pop fans stream MVs is because the # of views goes towards the winning of Korean music shows like The Show or Show Champion.
tbh I'm against streaming culture and I think many kpop fans focus too much on it and don't even think about what it means. people also forget that streaming is a kpop culture thing.

How it forces poverty on the mothers, stops their education, damages their mental health, and the negative effects on the child even if it is adopted. The mob mentality I found in the BTS fandom nearly soured me on the group when I first came across them. I had to completely ignore Armies until I had formed my own opinion of and relation to BTS. I know every single fandom has a section that needs to take several seats and that there's a whole lot of nothing that can be done about them. I just hope other newcomers can find a way to cope like I did because BTS is really worth it. - I'm pro choice myself because a thing I hate most in life is others making decisions for me, I refuse to do it to another if I can help it. I very much live how I want, how can I deny that to others? I just can't, no matter how much I might disagree. I don't know their life, I don't know what they're struggling with and I'm not offering to aid them either. How can I tell them what to do?
Honesty Army is one of the most loving and sweetest fandoms I've seen. The problem is (as with every topic) the fact that the louder ones usually tend to be the angrier or toxic ones. I don't have any fan accounts or anything but I do follow a lot of accounts that are just very sweet and supportive and I've met some amazing people at concerts. One of my good friends is also an army and we have very different opinions on lots of things in relation to BTS/media/army but we never fight about it bc BTS sends such an inclusive and loving message and I think most of their fans represent that. As far as fan wars and crazy jealous fans go honestly I think they're just the younger fans with not enough middle school homework. Also pro choice here, most women I know do not take abortion lightly (men probably do). My aunt was almost forced by her partner to get an abortion but choose not to do so and is now a happy single mom with her 2 yr old daughter. I think no matter the circumstance is, the woman is going to try to make the best choice for her, her baby and her body and it really is such a personal choice.
