There’s definitely something off about Kill This Love for me, perhaps it’s the abrupt ending and some parts feel like they could have been more. However I do love the visuals in the MV, as well as Jisoo and Rose shining this comeback.
I saw a video where they added another chorus after the "we must kill this love " part and it honestly sounded so much better and ended much more satisfyingly
Honestly, I've seen mixed reviews on it but I absolutely love it and is the reason re-stanned them. This is better than D4, no one can change that for me and they all improved immensely from what they had as a group before. Hope Not is personally my favorite song off the mini album with Kill This Love it's self and Don't Know What To Do following after
i love all of the songs of Square up but their stage presence just wasn’t there. I just felt like something from *them* was missing. In this comeback they are so much stronger, and deliver the essence of the song so much better, and even tho i think D4 was better produced, i actually enjoyed and loved the current stages unlike Square up.

Hope not is actually a song for their predebut and the other 3 songs have been recorded since last year, however the comeback was rushed and a bit messy because they were set to cb on March but seungri ruined it for them so they had no choice but to release it on April and they filmed the mv a week before it's release
i think it was rushed, even if they added song from predebut, i have the feeling the EP songs were not choose with time YG normally puts in. Square up sound like an EP YG putted more time in that they did with KTL (sorry if you do not understand english is not my 1st lenguage)
The only perfect songs in the album were all the songs except for kill this love tbh. Kill this love was good. But not upto Blackpink standards. The producers should've done better considering they produced so many wonderful bops. Kick it is the best in the album along with don't know what to do. Hope not is beautiful but I felt like it should've had some drums or a small rap in the end atleast. Kind of like stay.
honestly "Hope Not" was literally a golden song 😭 the mistake most kpop producers make is always inserting a rap verse even when the song could make do without a rap verse. i love that song so much and it really showcased the variety of vocals and singing styles of blackpink❤
@@zajacowskyy1542 i think you missed the point of what i was trying to say😅 the comment was to show appreciation for all of the members talents despite having an associated role in the group. we all know all of bpink can sing very well and i was saying that this was a well produced and thought out song arrangment. i was also insinuating to certain situations where producers force a song to have a rap part when in reality it isn't particularly necessary and sometimes makes the song sound messy, which in this case it doesn't. i was simply showing appreciation for the song and the members ability to sing well, that's all 😅

Honestly I didn’t like Kill This Love but more than that I don’t like that people can’t handle that some blinks just don’t like ALL their music. You can be a fan of someone but not of all the songs they release.
At least she shines vocally, but I would like KTL if she’d rapped in the first part cause the beat was perfect and to compensate Lisa cause tbh I think her rap part doesn’t fit the song at all, like the transition from Jennie to Lisa in D4 was insane but here it seems missplaced 🤷🏽♀️

My review: at first I was lowkey sad because I didn’t like the song or other songs but still supported Blackpink. I’d say after like a day I REALLY liked it and liked their other songs. I think it took me some time to like everything. But I loved the concept and the amount of lines all the members got were so fair!
Square up and kill this love should've been one album tbh. And I'm so tired of Teddy's production style Kick it to me had the most potential but was the most disappointing in the chorus
Idk why, but when I first heard 'Don't Know What To Do', I kinda wanted it for the single. I liked 'Kill This Love' the least, but you were definitely right in the overall sound of the mini. It's more mature and varied sounding yet definitely good to say they put it together like that. And yeah...the remix was all over the place but it's good in spots? lmao idk. I was just happy to hear kick it, don't know what to do, and hope not, because they showed a lot of improvement in the quality of music they've been given for their height as a group at this point. Definitely agree as well on the full album. They're too popular and flat out successful for YG to drag it's feet with them all the time, but I almost feel like it's their success itself that makes YG lackadaisical and overly comfortable. Either way, this mini was a turn in a good direction.
But the performances from this album is waaayyyyy better than squarr up. Choreographys are more intense and cleaner plus their stability has really improved.
I love kill this love the mv was everything i wanted and more, i think the choreo is cool, especially the end. KTL is def a highway car song. I also wish it were longer. I don’t love don’t know what to do without you it feels like I’ve heard it before. Hope not is beautiful but i don’t like that it’s a pre debut recording, YG we need new songs! I really like kick it it’s a whole bop. Overall I’m happy, it’s def the first time i can see the difference between the black and the pink concepts even tho i still think it’s kinda dumb and rip off of red velvet. And yes I’m just going to ignore the d4 remix
I've heard that but Khao San is a big tourist trap that mostly caters to westerners. It's hard to say where the hair braiding came from. I've looked it up before and there's nothing concrete about it's origins.

I'm a blink and I didn't really like the song. I believe they can do better than this, but I really liked the mv! "Hope not" and "Idk what to without you" are my favourite songs from the mini album. But just like I've said they can do better than this and I hope they are going to shock us with a new album very soon! 💕
I didn’t like it. It was supposed to make her badass but it didn’t look good on her. You get distracted looking at the braids and thinking about how bad it looks on her that you can’t focus on the song and mv.
At first I wasn't sure If I like Kill this love or not but after 2, 3 listens I like it. The b sides caught me off guard first because I expected a lot more upbeat songs but after a few listens I really liked them too and I think it's good that they got to showcase their vocals with this ep. I think 2019 is Blackpinks year and YG will give them many comebacks this year the same they did to Winner in 2017 and Ikon in 2018.
I noticed that this mini album has a really North American pop sound and less of a KPOP sound. I love their comeback, but it didn’t sound much like KPOP like all of their other music has. Also, I liked Lisa’s braids in the video, but if they want to make a good impression on their NA fan base, they won’t do that style again because of the controversy surrounding race and cultural appropriation in this country.

I thought KTL was the worst song on the album and lowkey their worst song they ever put out due to it being all over the place musically and clearly being a D4 ripoff. The best parts on the song were the prechorus and Lisa and Jennie's English part in the middle of the song. The music video (sans Lisa's braids) was excellent, though. I was also expecting bops from this album, but the songs they had were pretty nice and showcased their vocal talents. I agree that everything about this comeback was rushed, but they did fine with what they had.
jennie's trashcan She means that the some (composition and arrangement wise) sounds just way to much like DX4. Idk how many others can hear it but it’s really apparent to me as I’ve studied arrangement and production. It’s like MMLD’s producer keeping to the same sound and setup in Baam as he did in Bboom Bboom. Both of their producers are just underwhelming to me but it isn’t their fault really.
Dddd literally has a different beat drop to ktl and how are you gonna say the songs sound similar like, do you think of how similar stay is to boombayah when you listen to it? There’s nothing wrong with repetitiveness as long as quality isn’t sacrificed in my opinion. And similarities aren’t limited to sound but to topics, visuals, and production. All BP songs are similar in regards to topic and production format.

I adored the music video ,it wasn't boring,there was always something visually beautiful. The song was good too, I perfer DDDD in song not mv. The braids on Lisa didn't look good I agree yet I loved how she looked with the two buns. The choreo low-key bothered me ,not a lot but a little bit, I felt like they could have added a little but more but it's not a big deal cuz it was still good choreo. I adore everything about Don't know what to do. The vocals and choreo were beautiful
My only complaints with Kill This Love was •the "BlackPink in your area" Explanation: Oh god I hated that. it was very unnecessary and just doesn't belong in the song tbh. It would be much better without it. Not to mention it's literally copied and pasted from As If It's Your Last. Lisa says it the exact same way if you listen closely. Lazy much YG? The song: The song was okay, however, towards the middle on, the lyrics were just... weird and didn't make sense to me, I thought nothing could be worse than Boss, boyo I was wrong. I can't be the only one who thinks this right? The MV: The music video I truly enjoyed. It was nice, more colorful, and overall well done. However some of the outfits the girls wore just didn't need to be in there, so -1 there -D4 remix. Nothing needs to be said here Now what I liked? 1st and foremost, Rosé. Finally, my queen FINALLY gets her time to shine, this era belongs to her imo. No one can tell me otherwise. The performances: I remember watching the D4 Mr removed for the first time in March, and yikes, that's not good. The girls lacked energy and stage presence, except maybe Lisa. The vocals were just bad in my opinion, and Jisoo seemed to be the only one who could handle it. I honestly felt bad because of the comments people left because despite how funny I found them, they were very rude. Fast forward to KTL, they're doing much better, their vocals are stable, not too high or low, and the girls seem to not be missing any of their parts. Great job BlackPink, keep going! You've got this! YG, you better give them another comeback by at least November or else you can talk to my hand... The album itself: I still prefer the look of Square Up, but this is.... holy crap, stunning! I need to get this asap! Thanks for coming to my TEDx talk

The song feels kinda.. empty? Like Their last title song. It feels very empty, the dance was okay, the clothes were okay. It looked very visually pleasing but the song just feel like it’s missing something.
as a black girl myself i absolutely loved the braids on Lisa and got no problem with her wearing them by any means. but i do understand the controversy and respect my fellow queens’ opinions on it. overall i loved the album and DKWTD and KICK IT are my favorite songs.

It was just.... so underwhelming, like I adore the styling and visuals, also the trumpets are sick! But the structure of the song is what we've been hearing for the past 9 months... it's practically 4D 2.0. Intro with the hook -> Jennie followed by Lisa rap -> Jisoo+Rosé prechorus -> Chorus with the only lyrics being the title -> 2nd verse Jennie/Jennie+Lisa rap -> Jisoo+Rosé prechorus now switched places -> Chorus -> Rosé bridge in english -> Dance break in the end. Obviously there are smaller details that are different but overall it's so similar and I was just expecting more... I mean it's a bop at the end of the day but yeah, I wanted something else
i absolutely loved the music video with their vocals, rap, visuals, etc but the camerawork, dance, stage decor, and even some outfits were kinda underwhelming in their live performances, at least so far anyway. i am looking forward to their future performances though cause i'm SO READY for lisa's blue hair
Overall I loved the whole mini-album, especially the way Jisoo and Rose have shined throughout this comeback. Following the release of Solo I was frustrated because Jennie has always gotten so much attention compared to the other girls (being center in the performances even though Lisa is the main dancer, getting so many more lines when Rose is the main vocalists...). As much as I loved Solo I'm happy that the other girls are getting the attention they deserve.

I really loved the MV! It was beautiful and Jisoo looked so pretty to the point that I was left completly speechles. The song however was something that didn't took me by surprise or left me with any excitement. To me, the song felt bland and incomplete and it took some time for it to actually grow on me. The choreo wasn't as intense as YG papi described it would be but it wasn't bad or anything. Don't Know What to Do was probably the best one imo and I think it is a perfect music to get your day started with or for summer at least. Also I think Du Ddu remix ver. wasn't necessary and although the beat was sick, I think it didn't match with the song that well.
It's kind of unfair how some of y'all be saying how ktl is similar to dddd when the beat drop from both song are different, and it's tiring to see people saying how their songs sound similar, maybe the vibe of the music videos are similar but the songs? They are not for me, also I'm glad this new ep showed BP's diversity in their music, like "hope not" really bought out how good Lisa's vocals are or how "don't know what to do" bought out the fact that jisoo can do high notes, the songs are also very well planned out for their upcoming show at coachella so this album was great for me
lol i guess we had different opinions -i agreed with you about lisas braids, tragic -i felt like the ktl's mv was a darker version of d4 -the choreo felt a little mediocre -I didn't really like the dance break -lisa and jennies verse together was so good -their outfits looked amazing -I feel like the other songs were better but idk but the girls looked absolutely stunning and im proud of them (pls don't attack me its just my opinion)

For me i did not like the album that much. It just sounds like there old songs and is kinda boring but kinda good. Let me explain: 1. See you later sounds alot like kick it. 2. Forever young sounds like i dont know what to do without you. 3."really" sounds alot like hope not 4. Dddd-kill this love It just reminds me of the old songs too much and its nagging me. And we dont know how much unrealised songs YG has. If i was YG i would already make 5 albums in a year since they sang some songs and is still kept unseen. I know making a mini album is to make a quick buck or just get money to make more but maybe there are at least 15 songs there and can make a full album with 7 or 8 songs and he will have left with 8 or 7 songs. The money they will get will be amaizing but YG is still turning his back....
For DKWTD, the chorus and the entire song give me such western vibes. It's perfect for Coachella lmao. It's not my style but it's not a bad song, the verses are really good. Kill This Love is a very good title track and Hope Not is such a good song. Overall, a very strong ep. About what you said with how the songs end so fast, I completely agree! I feel like when it's hyping itself up it just stops and it leaves me wanting at least some more. But it does fit when you look at the length of the songs. Kill This Love is 3 minutes long and so is Solo. Nowadays songs go to almost 4 minutes. Still, great comeback, I like it more than Square Up

So in my opinion, Kill this Love, the song itself is not as good as Dx4. I felt that the song was empty especially in the chorus but I loved Jennie and Lisa’s verses together and Rosè and Jisoo’s visuals and voices. The choreography for Kill this Love was also kinda weak and basic for me...I would have appreciated stronger and sharper choreography to go along with the badass concept of the song but it is what it is. The debut stage for me kinda lacked energy in the choreography but Lisa and Jisoo turned it out. The music video though was amazing and I loved the sets and the duality concept they gave to Rosè and Jisoo. These are my opinions :)
