Nice review. I was somewhat hesitant of getting it because of the total weight, but then realize I can place the body of the unit (14 lbs) into the vehicle first, then carry the steel griddle top (18 lbs) by itself to make the weight more manageable when loading/unloading.

Yeah, since it is in two pieces the weight isn't so much of an issue if you cary it in two pieces.

So a combined weight of 32 pounds? It'd probably be easier to move and load If you set your purse down first..

My wonderful children bought me the 22” version with hood and stand for Father’s Day. I literally just got finished seasoning it for the first time about an hour ago. I’m looking forward to using it, especially when the weather is not that great for a conventional charcoal grill, but you still have the taste for something other than stove cooked food.

I have the same griddle. Love it. Bought it on market place. Brand new, never used for $100. It also came with the adapter for the 20 lb propane tank. I love making veggies on it. Great griddle. Thank you for your review.

great griddle. thats a cover though, not a carry case. I got a full carry bag eith shoulder strap, side and top handles. Flip it upside down and it makes a great cover, the top bag flap hangs down the back.

Correct! Yeah I should consider a full carry bag, certainly would make it easier to transport.

@@rybobuno Yeah, they were there again this past weekend, along with their 42-inch outdoor kitchen model. You just have to pop in there every weekend because they come and go all the time. Good luck.

Does the bottom get hot at all? Is it safe to use on a lowered truck tailgate

Truthfully I've only used on surfaces I know can withstand the heat, so I can't promise it wouldn't do any damage on a truck tailgate. I think it would be fine, but not sure.

I’ve used this ona tailgate with the spray on liner.. NO isssues. I like to think that’s what it was made for 🤘

I used mine on my tailgate and it worked fine. Only issue was grease splatter so I do not use it on my tailgate any longer.

How long does the propane canister last you when cooking daily at camp?

On average a typical small 1 lb or 16 oz camping propane tank will last about 2 hours with continuous burn. More on that here: wildernesstimes.com/how-long-does-a-camping-propane-tank-last/ Personally, I usually use about 1-2 canisters per 3-day camping trip.

Warning to all. It’s about useless if wind is high. Will need to build some wind blockers to use in windy conditions. I learned the hard way. Lol Also I just use regular tin foil to line the oil catcher. Works great other than in the wind

It would have to be rather windy because we've used this in pretty gusty conditions without any issues. However, I usually do try to position it with some sort of wind protection if possible.

Is the steel griddle stainless? Does it rust easily?

The griddle surface is cast iron, but I find it very easy to clean and ensure it stays rust-free. The nice part is it stays seasoned and for the most start is non-stick. Just grab a good griddle cleaning kit.

They have an electric version that would be safer for indoor use. You can use a propane stove indoors if you have proper ventilation (open window or fan), but I would also have a CO detector at the ready too.

Not a good idea to store parts inside. Especially already used grease catcher with grease that could drip into the inside that could catch on fire.

Practical IMO. Just wait for it to cool down, discard the foil insert tub and you are OK.

@@geothon Yeah, you can buy a backup supply of the foil inserts online. Easiest way to ensure there isn't much grease in there.

What is the griddle steel thickness?

Hmm. I'm not sure they disclose the thickness, but it is quite thick and heavy. I can measure it if you need, but it is currently in storage.

@@wildernesstimes When you get around to it would be fine. A buddy found that a Blackstone special purchase offering at a big box store (& what looked like a great deal) had a 1/3 thinner top that didn't hold the heat as wwl & the per burner butt's were lower. When I pull the trigger I need to know what specs I have to look for.
