*I almost FULLY FORGOT about this song's existence until Janet randomly put this in her setlist for the Atlanta show of her 2023 Together Again tour.* Talk about a blast from the past! You pretty much have to be a hardcore fan or super Janet fan to know that track. And it's super random and obscure song selection, too! It's as random as if she were to just queue up her song "French Blue" from Dream Street and start jammin' in the arena to it, lol.
I'll never know why this wasn't the hit, instead of the one with Busta. They were out at nearly the same time... This is on my Janet playlist. Busta's isn't.
once upon a time when music was still exciting . when all you had to do to listen to good music was to turn the radio or MTV on ;) Those times are loooooooong gone
The views shouldn't be this damn low. I remember it used to be everywhere, especially on BET, when I was younger. Even got strong video play on the network when they were running marathons to promote Janet J's then-new album at the time "All for You", 2001.
The thumbnail doesn’t help. Looks creepy. But I also noticed the hq vid for doesnt really matter is missing on RU-vid. What is going on? Janet’s legacy should be available in HD.
I remember not being able not to understand a lot of what was being said but thought the vid was cool as hell so I kept watching! This is when Janet first started whispering on songs!
One of the most underrated big-name collaboration I’ve ever seen. You can’t even find this song anywhere for downloads on major platforms. The production was awesome and the 3D video was years ahead of its time with the technology. This is a shame.
* "...The music video for “Girlfriend/Boyfriend” was directed by Joseph Kahn. The music video's budget was $1.5 million, causing VH1 to rank it 21st on its list of the 25 Most Expensive Music Videos Ever Made, released in 2013..."
Honestly at the time I thought this was the most innovative music video I’d ever seen. To me this should’ve been nominated for video of the year cuz it was so cool and different. 🤷🏼♀️
@@GalaxyNexus1 actually I grew up in the 80’s, but never saw Thriller till I was really old. The thing that stood out about this music video was I’d never seen another one featuring a pinball machine setup so that memory stuck in my head. Yes I think everyone knows who the king of pop is. 😉
bought this album when it came out in 2001 and fell in love with this song but kind of lost sight of it. Can't believe I never saw this video. It is absolutely amazing. I think it should have won an award. This is the best rap I have ever heard
@@darryl526 Waoow! That's really interesting and cute 😁.. Thank God for preserving you for these 10years.. Trust you have achieved something significant in that time space.. Stay safe friend...
This song just randomly popped into my head. All I remember is Janet saying boyfriend, stalking me, following me, paging me 😂😂😂. Man what a time to be alive. I can’t believe I’m almost 30 saying they don’t make good music like they used to. I’ve turned into my grandma lol 😂😅
For everyone who was wondering, Mase's single 'Horse and Carriage' came out the month prior, but the Blackstreet album this song was released on came out before Confessions of Fire (which 'Horse and Carriage' was featured on).
Still such a great song, it was originally suppose to be Blackstreet featuring the Spice Girls thats why in janets verse she says "there's already enough spice in this" I wish it could have featured all of them Janet,Spice Girls,Eve & Ja Rule ❤❤❤ But Blackstreet and Janet sound so smooth ❤❤❤
Such a fun time to grow up too. I absolutely loved this song in the 5/6th grade. Back when shit was super easy. Thank you Teddy Riley for bringing artists together and letting it rip ❤
I remember seeing this music video from time to time on BET channel when I was 14 going on 15 in year 1999. Memory of this music video being one of the most expensive ever at the time because of the computer animation. I still really like this song today. And Janet Jackson! Thank you for posting.
This song was released 24 years ago and it's the first time I've seen the video! I binged on the tdk/cassette tape till it coiled up and broke lol, underated song imo. Miss those simple good old days.
Yea dis one was special, uno a JJ feature is elite she showed out for Blackstreet on some futuristic flex wasn’t expect Eve n Rule on this feel like I tuned in to the box or sumn 😭💯
I totally forgot about this song until a few days ago. I randomly started humming the melody and I couldn't for the life of me recognize the tune or where I heard it before. I hummed it for my cousin who knew it right away and now I'm here 😂. This song is so good. It can easily be remade today by 2 new artists and it'll be a hit.
Damn...... I looked up JJ pinball video cuz I couldnt remember the name and totally forgot Blackstreet is the main contributor to this awesomeness. Sweet!!
this video probably didnt get many views bc everyone forgot about this video and this was made in the 90s where creativity was the main point of music i love the video lol
Everything Joseph Khan does is a masterpiece! Gotta love this video. It must've been a bitch to produce, but it was perfectly executed. It kept interesting and innovative throughout, plus it looked pretty good. The Eve and Ja Rule avatars were so cool! This song is pretty cool, still listen to it in 2013 because I love Janet. But this was a pretty killer crew back in the day, Janet, Ja Rule, Eve and Blackstreet all in one song and video. Nice!!!
Omg!!! I heard this on a mix on the radio!! This was my songgg. This when Ja Rule was still kind of new on the scene. This collab and video was so interesting but amazing!!!
