Just got mine on Friday night and tested it before I watched your vid and was worried something was wrong with it but after watching this I was able to get it up in the air and started to hover right away. I have a CX3 and can fly it very well. I bought this heli as a "next step" and am very pleased. Your video was very helpful with some questions I was having. Great job and many thanks.
I'm totally new and your videos have been more helpful than I can express. Thank you for walking us through ALL the ins and outs of starting this hobby!
I just got this heli and absolutely love it. I have MCX, MSR, CX3 and MCX2 and this is my favorite because it has the ability to fly outsize in a decent breeze. The previous helis that I mentioned would not handle any breeze at all. I got this thing pretty high up and yes, the breeze was obvious and I had to fight it but I did get it to come back to me. Very durable as well, I flew it real high and battery started to die and it came down hard on the concrete and didn't break anything.
I brought one of these yesterday,so glad to know it comes set in high rate.i was finding it a little hard to fly, will change to low rate now. Thanks for the advice mate :-) happy flying from the uk...
@CrazyHeliDude Thanks. I went ahead and got a 120 sr. On one of the crashes the tail rotor motor mount broke. I super glued it but I expect it to break again someday. I ordered a extra tail set up (along w/ extra blades, skids) just in case. I have had it for a few days and I love it. I'm starting to crash less and learning how to hover.
Very nice video! I myself have the 120sr helicopter! Its has been real windy & a few storms only this year ! Only got 3 flights in so far Keep trying to get a calm day ! Hope to fly as good as you some day! You area great pilot!
Got mine at a yard sale for $20 and it came with a spare boom main rotor blades tail blade (replaced it already since the tailblade was already broken) and some spare rods for the main rotor. I did make the maiden outdoor flight just a minute ago don't have alot of room indoors as it is so couldn't do it there. But it got off the ground moved foreward turned and landed so I still have a long way to go till I can get it to go higher and further. These are cheaper and safer than the gas powered RC heli's.
The "glue" to use is "Goop". It holds real well but can be removed when you need to disassemble parts for repairs. I replace my tail section and just put a dab of it over the section between the tail shaft and frame
You have to set the low rate mode everytime you power up. When the red LED is blinking you are in low rate mode. The trim buttons are parallel to the control sticks. In mode two the taw trim is left stick on the bottom .
Flew mine into my house, full speed. Nothing broke. Flew it into my house, full speed again, plummeted 10 feet to concrete. It cracked the canopy nothing else. Flew it into a tree, into a fence (at speed) and the only thing that happened was I lost a couple of those links that it comes with spares of, and the tail rotor popped off, no biggie just popped it back on.
This can be an outdoor heli but I think it is primarily indoor. If you look at my post a few posts down, I do explain that it can handle slight breezes better than other helis I mentioned. Of course, once you go larger, you will not have any problems with breezes but I think the SR120 is still too small for strickly outdoors. I would say this is an intermediate heli. As far as durability, I have slammed it into walls and struck chairs before with no problems. Very strong!
Thanks for the video series, but please work on cutting out some of the lengthy talk time and work on the essential points. The videos will be more valuable when they are shorter, and to the point. I felt like I was waiting a long time to learn a little.
@CrazyHeliDude Yes ,that is how its done,......I figured it out but thanks for getting back to me,.....and thanks for all the info,,,,you do a great job !!!!
I think that if you're even breathing in the direction of this is too much wind :p Or I'm just really bad. I haven't had any success with outdoor flights with mine yet and am very discouraged from even trying again. It will be going back to the right...I will be FULL forward left and still not even overpower what seems to me, no wind at all.
Just got my 120 SR. My first "bigger" heli, survived some novice crashes, super fun. Is it normal for it to "list" to the right. Sorry I don't know the correct term. I get stable hover but it looks like the heli is leaning right. Looks like yours is doing that a little too. Thanks!
Hey bud I have the blade 120s and idk what I did but when I throttle all the way down the prop is hesitant on shutting down. meaning when I do full throttle off the prop keeps spinning for about 10 secs and then shuts down. I look into the monitor mode and im seeing this PIT on channel six? is also activated when I turn on throttle what is going on? can you help?
My heli yaws and tips over...having trouble identifying which trim buttons to adjust. Can you do a vid on which buttons to push to make the heli remain stable when taking off and hovering?
ya gotta watch it with these, recently their have been a lot of manufacturer defects especially with the right servo motor and gears. I just bought one the other day and that was my problem, lucky for me my local hobby shop replaced the defective copter , i would watch it with any eflight r/c copters, i have the cp pro 2 and that is a bitch to fly as well. I been told by the experts their are a lot of problems with these machines.
i'm a total beginner and i never flown an helicopter of my life can you help me because i have some difficulties to control it and i don't know how to adjust the trims Thank you
Sorry if this has been addressed already. In the video you were flying with the DX6 with the equivalent of high rates. I have a DX8, how would I set up dual rates? I'm a plane guy and this is in fact my first heli. Thanks.
I have a problem of it not wanting to go forward. I started out in the beginner mode, hovering to get the trim correct, once I did I push forward on the control stick and it doesn't go forward. The trim is all the way forward, control stick all the way forward and it wont go forward. I don't know if I'm flying it wrong, or if something is wrong. Any help or insight would be much appreciated.
hi i fly a belt v2 nose in etc (sometimes which means im not an expert) which should handle wind well but seems to be blown about more than my nine eagles solo pro fp comarativley speaking , which cuts thro wind that it shoudlnt do. Would you say the 120 is similar or worse in a breeze than the smaller version(simillar to solo pro) thanks for any help.ps belt si bit to stressful for me
Hey crazy heli. Really awesome video you have here. Very helpful as I've just gotten my Sr 120. I've got an issue. When I first start playing it with my dx6i, it went in the opposite direction from the controls. Why is that the case?
after replacing a dead tail motor and picking up a DX5e then binding it to the blade 120sr my problems has gone, I can fly without a crash until the battery goes
@letterpool lol.. ok that didn't go so well =) outside was too cold. so i smacked into my bigscreen, almost killed the dog, freaked out my wife and my little guy was laughing the whole time. most exellent.
I have the same question. Setting up the Dx6i.....the guy at the hobby shop suggested it be set up in Acro or airplane mode since it's not a 'real heli'...can you elaborate?
Hi I was hopeing too see how you setup your Spectrun radio for the 120. Do you put it in as a Plane or as a Heli. There is absolutely nothing in the manual about setting up your bigger radio
@CrazyHeliDude LOL..I can see your a experienced R/C heli pilot, but you still like to fly your CX heli still? If so thats must help keep your skills sharp if you havent flown for weeks..If you just want to fly in your living room!!!
Hi, great vid's! I really like the look of the 120 sr, but I'm not really sure if it's what I should be buying. I fly v911's indoors which are great. I'm now looking for a bigger 4ch to fly outside. The 120 sr looks really good for very still days, but is there anything that would handle a light breeze a bit better? Cheers!
Does it naturally hover angled to the right slightly? I bought one a couple of weeks ago and though it hovers fine, it is leaning slightly to the right. When pushing forward on the elevator the heli flies forward, but also, annoyingly, slightly to the right. The aileron response is also a lot quicker moving right than left for obvious reasons, if it's already tilted in that direction slightly. I have the BNF version and a DX6i. Any help would be appreciated, please? Thanks.
Great vid, thank you! I am thinking of getting the 120SR. Shoudl I get the BNF version and get a dx7 or shoudl I go with the RTF? I do plan on advancing in this hobby as well... Thanks!
My forward/backwards direction (on blade 120 SR) do not work (will not go forward or backwards) but turning/side to side works well. Anything I can do to fix this?
On the msr I hate the 45 degree fly bar for the pendulum effect. It would be fine if I let go of controll and it just stopped, but instead it stops and goes backwards.. Does the 120 SR do the same thing?
How is yours so stable? I just got mine and it goes careening off to the side as soon as it gets enough lift to leave the ground. I eventually crashed it and knocked off the tail rotor bearing thingy. I am using the DX5e. Please help.
I have a question for you please , my 120 Sr lose control while am trying to fly and fly by itself and I try to catch but I can't some times so what this problem might be ?
I've had it a year ,it still won't fly replaced lots of parts ,it just turns to the right and moves backwards.I've got planes and quads with no problems but this thing is hopeless .Ray
I just picked up the 120sr and it did nothing like he describes "pendulum"in this video.first it will not hover,it likes to go backwards and to the right.the as for the rudder.it only turns right no left power, yes the blade does turn but slow and I tryed every thing.and the only way it will fly is from over three feet above the ground,if i try it sitting on the groung it spins and goes to the right.it's going back to the store so they can eather fix it or replace it.
And I didnt mean him sucking at helis as a stab at him. Helis are not the easiest thing to fly, and most people, myself included, suck at it. So blaming a heli for breaking when you arent capable of flying it without crashing it, is a bit goofy. Loads and loads of people have this heli and LOVE it. Actually, the 120SR is known for being incredibly durable. Dont take my word for it, go look at helifreaks or another forum like that.
I've got a mCX2 right now and am starting to consider what my next step will be. Would you recommend this over the mSR for my next step on the road to the 450 X?
Hay crazyhelidude I have read in some forums how the msr can fly in 5-10 mph wind. Not mine anything over 2mph I’m done. and the 120sr I have a great deal of trouble flying in winds over 2mph.the swash plate on each is set to advanced and my dx6i gear switch is set on 1.i have tried heli and airplane mode, they do fly better in airplane mode but still not well if the wind is over 2mph.is it just me or what
Funny, I have had zero problems with mine other than a couple links falling off and a cracked canopy both from HARD crashes. I know at least 8 people with them, and they arent having the issues you had either. Maybe you just suck at RC helis. Most people (including myself) do as well. I can say for sure, you crashed it HARD to break that much in 2 crashes. Or you left the throttle pegged as it hit.
Is it just me or do other people break the rear motor booms on these too? If had 2 of these helicopter's and broke both booms in exactly in the same place! and both crashes where not major one's at low speed, low altitude and on grass!!
Aymii keegan yeah I hear ya,if ya come across any good value single blade,4 channel helicopters let me know and I will do the same.PS I love your avatar, it should be our flag.peace dallas:-)
How many blades you going with and have you herd of a programmable circuit board called a "edwino" or a "red board"? Apparently you can go up to 10 props as well as shoot HD video with its prosesser
eat the yeah have heard of them but not sure on would I be able to actually do it .. That's the thing still shopping on ., i wanted nano because of size .. But then the camera quality takes a dive .. I watched the drone championships ... And want in BADDD !,
Not being a jerk, Im just saying that he is painting a picture of it being a complete piece of crap based on his ONE experience with it, and that in my experience dealing with customers in RC as well as automotive, people SEVERELY underestimate how they treat things when they break. 9 times out of 10 "I was just using it normally" means "I was ham fistedly abusing the hell out of it"
