I freakin love Blade 2. It's my fav Blade movie. Them slow walking into that night club with "Against I" playing in the background felt so iconic to me.
Curious fact: Del Toro didn't want to do this film. But his manager convince him to do it so he could have more freedom in future projects. His Hellboy movie wouldn't have happened if not for Blade II.
I remember seeing this 20 years ago and being blown away...still holds up to this day. The reapers are possibly the coolest and creepiest design for a vampire ever. I love the opening with Nomak in the blood bank. Set the tone for the whole movie
Definitely the best chapter in the trilogy. Blade is at his best in this one, Nomak is a great main villian, Ron Perlman is great, and this film has the only vampire death in the whole trilogy that you actually feel sorry for when they die… Nyssa.
This is definitely a kick ass sequel that builds and expands the lore and story from the first one. Perlman is the beast and snipes is at his best. Can't wait to hear you defend trinity!
Love it!!!! Blade 2 was AMAZING! On par, if not better than the original! Visuals were more detailed, and easy to get into. One of my all time favorites! Great video Boss!
Great content! It’s really high in my 31 of this May! Cody, are you going to review Silver Bullet before the 31 on 31? Also, would you consider making a The Two Corey’s top 10 movies?! Love this channel
I have a distinct memory of first watching this with my dad at home on rental. The opening scene was gory and scary to me and then the club sequence FREAKED me out. So, Del Toro succeeded. I couldn’t finish the movie for years lol Now I LOVE it lol
I love love love Blade 2. Funny thing too, I also had my grandma buy the video game for me lol I thought it was a badass game back in the day, I loved it! Haha I haven’t revisited it since but I did watch gameplay and yeahhh I can say it didn’t age very way 😂
I thought Blade 2 was a decent follow-up from Blade. I love the Reapers as they are an interesting take on vampirism and why wouldn't vampire try to create a stain that would make them immune to garlic, silver and daylight. The Reapers do remine me of the vampires (Strigoi) from the TV show The Strain.
Blade 2 is a great sequel but I personally like the 1st film better. The first one captures the action horror tone of the comics better in my opinion, this one is more of a straight up action film.
Amazing ep, as always. I love your content! Thank you once more for all the much needed laughs and entertainment. Also where did you get that badass t-shirt?! Viva the Frog Bros, my dude! 👍🏻😁
I love this movie so much. It was a perfect blend of building from the first movie and adding new stuff and keeping things on point. This is my favorite Blade movie.
I find it funny how one movie can bog down an entire trilogy when 2 thirds of it is considered at best guilty pleasures with some to a great deal of genuine pleasure (love these movies) with fans and horror movie fanatics
You obviusly do not know WHO YOU F*CKIN WITH! Because Cody nailed with Blade II review again😎 All things you said is my thoughts about Blade II even with video game wich I had almost the same experience😂 G Del Torro did great job with sequel with awesome characters. One nitpick.....Donnie Yen was so so underused here😒 and CGI fight Blade VS Assad and Nyssa is looking too smooth and rubbery but other CGI effects are not bad. Agree also with Whistler return, one scene in movie like retrospective with Whistler tried kill himself but he couldn't because he was too weak and passed out and then turn to vampire would fix this issue easly. Anyway Great review and can't wait if you hit bullseye third time with Blade Trinity😎Cheers bro💪 PS: Did you see Blade The series with Sticky Fingaz?😆
When it comes to the 31 on 31 if the werewolf & vampire movies don't include "WER" or "Blood Red Skies" two of the best Werewolf and Vampire movies made in the last decade then I truly believe these guys and or girls need to up their movie watching game. "WER" alone doesn't get talked about enough as one of the best Werewolf movies ever made. Now that being said if they do bring them up, I'd like my crow with a side of hashbrowns and sausage gravy. Mmmmmm sausage gravy. This is actually just a post to get more people to watch these 2 movies. Mad respect for Mr. Leach and what he does.
I don’t understand Wesley Snipes complained about having sidekicks in Blade Trinity but that was just two characters Jessica Bial and Ryan Reynolds’s but on Blade 2 he has 7 sidekicks and he has to share screen time with Ron Perlman and Donnie Yen.
Cody if you love the reaper vamps in blade 2 you will love the strain. Vampires are so much alike and guess what directed bye same dude. The vampires in the strain are also very terrifying...
The blade 2 playstation 2 game was THE SHIT, it has an awesome (once u get the hang of it)fighting feature where u rotate the sticks instead of just mashing different buttons, dudecant believe u hated that game it was a little funky until u got the hang of it and then u realized how awesome the fighting feature was...
My Favorite Blade Movie! FUN FACT: Did you know that Michael Jackson was gonna have a cameo in this movie? This would've been the 2nd time Wesley and Michael worked together. Thank God Michael chose to appear in MiB 2. 😏 Lol!
Anybody notice the similarities to Luke Goss’s Nomak and his whole family dynamic in Blade 2 with the character he plays in Hellboy: The Golden Army? Almost seems like Del Toro used Blade 2 as a primer for Hellboy 2.
Nice review. I love this movie and revisit once in awhile. Hahaha in the club scene only one vampire recognized Blade and ran out of there. I believe it was the same one from the beginning and end of the film. I never saw the first Blade movie but I could totally tell they were rushing through the Whistler story. Maybe they shortened it for runtime purposes? But to make it believable could someone get over the thirst over night? Haha, I don't know, but probably not. Good job though on the review.
I agree I liked blade but I really like blade 2. I've alway's preferred blade 2 and I think it's the best blade film of the 3. Blade and blade 2 are pretty close in quality for me but if I had to pick one I'd say blade 2.
Watched it for the first time as prep for 31on31, and this rules. Will definitely be high on my personal ranking, and I can imagine high on Cody his ranking as well after this review
Idk if you know this but the guy from the fast and the furious was also in the first blade. He played the guy that says I got his pig sticker then get his hand choped off by the booby trap
My favourite vampire movie of all time! (Despite it's faults). I think it's fair to say that Del Toro is a genius. It's worth listening to his commentary Cody as not only are his commentaries always entertaining, but he also addresses all your "mixed" and "negative" aspects. My favourite comment was when he spoke about Whistler's resurrection. He said, "If you're looking for screen logic, then go and watch Steven Speilberg. But if you just wanna have fun, then come and see Blade 2 the kick ass movie!). awesome!!! 😀
Blade 2 is perfect, even better than Blade 1 in many ways. The Del Toro touch, from the image to the shoots, Blade’s character, vampire 2.0…Insane movie.
Great breakdown Cody I absolutely love this movie too. Still kinda bugs me that a few scenes I saw in the cinema were removed from the DVD version but definitely a 10 outta 10 movie in my book.
Love this film! Definitely best sequel ever and one of those rare films that you can watch at any moment, and it's still brilliant. Blade 2 is definitely the best Blade film, I'd love to see more Wesley Snipes Blade Films if they could match the quality of the original Blade
For me VhD: Bloodlust is still the best vampire movie sequel of all time. Blade 2 is good, a great vampire movie but underwhelming as a martial arts flick. As someone who grew up with alot of Asian cinema I have a certain standert that's more in line with the 1st one. The way they treat Donnie Yen is also more than enough for me to put this below the original.
can argue that most people at the club were drugged or drunk out of their minds to notice blade. also the one bald Czech dude from the start and end noticed him at the club and freaked out lol
9:57 And Trinity makes it pointless by having him kill himself by blowing up his and Blade's hideout to try and save Blade from the FBI agents who think he's a serial killer but Blade gets arrested anyway.
At this point I'm not even sure if Marvel's Blade film will ever see the light of day at this point. Especially now with these writer strikes. Really love blade and and the original 3. Always got them but I really want Marvel to get the ball going with Blade. Why is it taking so long. Pretty much getting into the black Adam scenario. Should have had Blade by now.
What is going on, I'm agreeing with literally all of your takes for like the past few months! I have to agree again that blade 2 is the best blade. Absolutely fantastic film that holds up remarkably well to this day.
God I love Blade 2 this movie is amazing I love the look of the reaper vampires in this movie they’re so terrifying and badass I am also a big fan of Luke Goss he does great as Jared Nomak I also love him in Hellboy 2 as Prince Nuada
My older brother worked in the theater the summer this came out. I got to see it four times and it's a perfect sequel !! I never understood the hate this movie got either.
