I love how he hesitates to shoot him at first because he doesn't want to hit the kid, but as soon as frost mentions his mother, before he can even get the word out, blade draws and opens up on him haha.
I'm so torn on this. It's like a back and forth. On one hand I see how Blade wishes to protect us humans. But protect us from what? We are owned like cattle by our governments and they even put bad shit on the grocery shelves like J&J baby powder and such. They mark us with social security numbers and the rich keep getting richer and the poor keep getting poorer, while blacks are gunned down in the streets by corrupt cops. Yes, this is reality outside this movie, but surely it's apart of Blade's world as well. Plus cannibalism still exists in and out of Blade's universe, too. So humans eating on humans. On the other hand, Drake was BORN. He was NOT created in a lab, there were no labs back then, he was BORN! So should have just committed suicide? He was BORN a vampire and needs to eat/drink blood. What's wrong with that? Hell, Drake could be doing us a great service. He number one can help us keep human numbers down (thanks to religious people keep breeding like rabbits) and two he can take out bad guys if he wanted to help us with corruption.
HOLYSHIT. That kid, flung by her neck, flew like 50 feet, smashed through a street stand, and landed on concrete. Then got up. She must be a mutant in the Marvel universe.
How about the asshole bus driver that doesn't even attempt to put on the brakes when there's clearly a child in the middle of the road. When Blade saves the child, the bus just keeps on going as if nothing has happened. I can't be the only one who notice's that car and buses in movies don't seem to have any brakes in them. The reason why I say this is because that, there are many movies there'll be somebody in the middle of a road, either they'll be thrown into or stumble into the road, they'll be in the road for a good amount of time for somebody to put on their brakes before hitting them.
He was as far as his dialogue goes. It was very on point with showing him to be a sociopath who only cared about being the vampire leader and nothing else and he would bowl over anyone (human or vampire) to reach that goal. I only wished we had seen more of this on display in his actions. Aside from him killing Dragonetti, sucking the cop dry for letting Blade punk him, beating up Whistler, and tossing this girl into the street, we don't see too much other heinous stuff from him that would make us really burn anger to see Blade take him out. I would have liked to have seen him take out more humans in this film or show more cop familiars take unsuspecting humans (maybe a couple off the street) into the station only to be bitten by Frost and other vampires. That would have made the vampires more of a threat to the humans like their society is controlled by the vampires.
Interesting post. I see what you mean, though I was satisfied with the display of villainy from Frost in this movie. Can't believe it'll be 20 years soon since this awesome movie premiered in the theaters. I feel that because Deacon Frost was very much changed in the movie from his comic book counterpart, that could be why you felt there wasn't enough heinous actions shown in the movie that would truly fuel us as the moviegoing audience to root for Blade to really kill him. Deacon Frost in the comic books was more twisted and malicious compared to this hip, suave almost pretty-boyish 90's looking version of him. But regardless of any major liberties taken, I still found this Deacon Frost to be a very formidable foe for Blade and him turning La Magra is a huge payoff in the end. I think I know what would've made you satisfied with this Deacon Frost in the movie, if they had included it into the final cut. It was a deleted scene where Karen is held captive in the Edgewood Towers with Frost and Mercury. As they have their conversation, they talk(debate) about vampirism as evolution or a virus/STD. So in that scene, Karen asks how Frost and his vampires will be able to feed if the whole world gets turned into vampires. Frost showed Karen that they were testing out freezing humans, putting them in catatonic vegetable states and taking their blood from them. As they heal and replenish from that, their blood will continue being drained from them and stored somewhere. It repeats. Once the blood tide and La Magra awakens, Frost said that production will have to be ramped up and more humans would be rounded up ready to go. Karen was, of course, disgusted by it. If that scene were included, it would've been icing on the cake for your expectations of this villain on the big screen. :)
There is no one whould could've played these two characters better than these guys! Snipes and Dorff were born to play Blade and Frost, man. Great chemistry between them as enemies too.
Imma be honest, the blade vampires vs the twilight vampires isn’t fair. Take blade without his weapons he’s just a guy who’s good at karate with a slight increase in strength. Sorry but the clan of vampires I forgot their names in twilight with all their unique separate powers would probably fuck blade
DummZ I don’t think you realize how strong the Twilight Universes vampires really are. They have no weaknesses except for mental powers or one that can fight better than the other. Blade just isn’t fast enough or strong enough to go up against them.
@83rdox The Japanese as with most other things are inspired by ideas and study them to the point where it's developed better than it was originated. Facts and we all know it.
SunBunz I thought this was shortly after matrix, but you’re right. The sunglasses, Trenchcoats, martial arts, bullet time. I guess sometimes the time is just ripe for a certain style
I love how he chucks her 50 meters and directly through a hot dog cart, not to mention completely obliterating it into fragments, and she's like "ok I'll run away now" Blade was probably scared for the bus about to crash into her. That kid is indestructible
"You're an animal! You're a maniac!" Kind of funny how what Frost is accusing Blade of being is exactly what he's proved himself to be thus far in the film by both mercilessly killing Dragonetti in the beach scene and the familiar cop who let Blade escape.
@@fighterck6241 You're right. He does this when he insists the humans will never accept him and then again when he says he wants him to join his particular little party group of vampires who have cut themselves off from the rest of Vampire Council as they seem content to party and infect rather than remain in the shadows as the elders prefer to. I thought that element of the movie psychologically was the most compelling: the rift within the Vampire Nation. The elders want peace while the young bucks want war. Kind of ironic because in real life that's how it usually works only during wartime the elders (career politicians, old generals, lieutenant colonels) are the ones ordering the youngsters (high school grad privates) to fight (suit up and go to battle in war).
@@fighterck6241 not one of them. Lol. Blade gets wild and kills everyone of them. He hunts them. Which means he's a badass and more animalistic than them in a way. That's why he says you're an animal, you're a fucking maniac!!
I love Blade :) . Stephen Dorff and Wesley Snipes stole the show and Deacon Frost was such a brilliant villain :). To me this is Stephen Dorff's best performance role :)
I read that it actually was shot in Los Angeles but takes place in Chicago. Would a been nice if they had shot the movie there then it would have been more accurate to what they were going for. A couple of scene of the Sears (now the Willis) Tower and the United Center would have been nice to project the feeling of being in Chicago (and they still could have done the Chinatown scene there because there is a Chinatown in Chicago too just like there are in New York City, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. =)
Trusting people kill what actually happens in New York is the whole neighborhood concept that they got going they've definitely see you Its whether they choose to react or not
"If you wanna take the hard road, be my guest, pal. By the time this over, you're gonna wish they never cut you from your mothers----" (Blade pulls his gun out and fires.) I'd say, Frost hit a nerve.
This would have made an amazing side plot for the movie. Having this girl being bitten by Frost and her parents go to the police to report her missing only to be beaten up as the cops happen to be familiars and maybe the vampires end up killing her parents and the girl ends up back at Blade's lair and he ends up training her like Whistler trained him as a boy. That would be crazy! Sure it would totally alter the ending of this movie and the series in general but man that would be so cool and really deepen Blade's character. =)
Are you saved? If you died tonight would you go to heaven or hell? The Gospel, which means the Good News is the news that God Almighty, the Creator came in the flesh as Jesus Christ to take away the sin of the world. The one God is a trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Son came and laid down his own life to save ours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for our redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him. Although God's creation was created perfect, having no death, sickness and disease, the creation became corrupted through Adam and Eve in them disobeying God. In this rebellion the creation became fallen through the curse of sin and mankind became separated from God. This world is fallen, but God offers reconciliation to him through his provision at the cross. Ultimately God will restore his creation to perfection when he returns but those that who reject his offer of redemption will remain condemned by their sins and go to hell. 1 Timothy 3:16 KJV And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: GOD WAS MANIFEST IN THE FLESH, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. John 1:1,14 KJV In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and THE WORD WAS GOD. [14] And THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH, and dwelt among us, 1 John 3:8 KJV He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. [16] For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. I cannot even say what made this movie so amazing, but every single part was excellent. As awesome and amazing at Wesley Snipe was (and still is) his supporting cast was A+ as well -- the directors, the producers -- everybody made this movie a huge success, but Wesley Snipes aka Blade was definitely unforgettable!!
Have you read the stories where men rape women in NY and nobody stops to help, even with dozens of people around? True story. Also, I heard plenty of cries after Blade fired.
You can tell that Blade feels absolute disdain for Frost because his first word is "Sunblock". He doesn't care about anything he had to say, he just wanted to insult him
Certainly the most charming in a malevolent way lol and somehow I don't hate him even though he's a sociopath lol he's interesting and compelling as a villain as Blade is as a anti hero
And how did she survive. Blade isn't such a good vampire hunter. The girl's body demolished a bus stop and she still survived unscathed. Obviously a vampire
I feel like blades a bit irrational. Frost “ I’m offering you a truce, I want you with us.” Blade: unnecessarily reveals information Frost (seemingly impressed and clearly open to dialogue:) so you know about the blood God?” Blade: “Your nothing to me but another dead vampire.” ...Well, sh!t man.
Debatable, he had the thirst which was more or less handled by serum, but at one point Whistler mentions he ages like a human. That would be the biggest drawback.
I don't know if any of you know this but this was actually the very first time that blade and frost had any kind of interaction on set Steven dorff had just met Wesley Snipes that day and Wesley came in in character. they started the scenes in character and if you watch the director's cut the film you will find out that they actually did not get along very well.
Black panther and Blade are on different level. I know Stephen Dorf can't be replaced. He absolutely killed that role. The entire cast was phenomenal. I would give Stephen Dorf a million out of 10 stars!
What kind of bus doesn't even attempt to slow down when someone is in the middle of the fucking road? "Welp, there's a little girl that I'm going to run over, but I can't be late! I have a schedule to uphold!"
You can see the superiority here ...blades fangs are a bit shaper frm the incissors to the main biting canines...frost's main canines are the only ones tht are sharp....if it wasnt fr the ritual...frost wouldnt even stand a chance....blade is an O.G
