Imaramblr Not only did we have Blade (1998) and Spawn (1997), but we also had James Edwards/Agent J in Men in Black (1997) played by the notable Will Smith which was part of Malibu Comics who was bought out by Marvel in the mid-'90s shortly before the film was released. Black Panther was the furthest thing away from being "revolutionary" but the media hyped it up and considered it such to brainwash and leave a false impression on a young, naive, impressionable uneducated demographic. It was the same case as well with Captain Marvel where they acted as if there were no female superheroes in the leading role until Brie Larson. It was quite ridiculous.

It's always the first. Just like Wonder Woman was the first female super hero, despite Catwoman starring Halle Berry, despite her even getting an Oscar. If it's a black or female actor, it's always somehow the first, even if they aren't. Gotta sell your new trash on something, right? In a hundred years they will celebrate the "first woman in space" and in the cinemas the "first black protagonist" in a movie ever. No, those hundreds of times before that don't count because we don't have a selling point other than that.
