Being a Texan, we’re outlaws, that said we have our own style. I could list artists for days. The most traditional would be George Strait (he carries on some of that Bob Wills, Texas Swing). 60 number 1 hits. If I had to pick one for a first timer it would be “Amarillo by Morning”. Being a veteran, it would be “Angel Flight” by Radney Foster. Then there are a whole slew of singer songwriters that gave the finger to Nashville and came HOME to the Lone Star State. Like Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Jerry Jeff Walker, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Guy Clark, Billy Joe Shaver.... They’ve influence a whole next generation like Roger Creager (The Everclear Song), Robert Earl Keen (The Road Goes on Forever), Lyle Lovett (That’s right your not from Texas).... I could go on and on.

For another country artist I recommend "Wagon Wheel" by Darius Rucker. Darius Rucker was/is the lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish. You would think someone with that background would do a more poppy kind of country but no, Darius is straight up real country music. And he won a Grammy for Best Country Solo Performance for "Wagon Wheel"
I really appreciated your comment about hype music. Comparing the song to a sports moment makes perfect sense to me because in those moments you want to be your best, uplifted and feel proud of your team/teamwork. For me, this song fits that description. Thank you for traveling outside your comfort zone to experience something new. I always thought that to be a true music lover then you must be willing to experience all genres. I haven't found one yet that I didn't learn something from. I am happy to become a new sub.
