I have it on good authority that it's the first Monday of every month, you send your clip to James Chen and you take out a second mortgage to bet on the first clip
It happens on a random day of the month at a random time, you don't submit clips physically, but psychically directly into the stream, and you always go all in and remember to always throw paper.
17:09 - Oh boy, a Pokken clip! A quick explanation about the Victini unblockable setup - the assist has an attack hitbox that does like 200 damage, but it spawns behind the user so it’s rarely in position to connect to the opponent unless they’re blindly jumping over you. (Its primary use is for its buff and meter gain effects than the attack) What Garchomp did was force Lucario into airtech after the wallbounce, cross under, use the assist so it spawns behind him at the wall, cross under *again* and then used his command grab special. Since in Pokken grabs have to be teched with attacks, Lucario is screwed on oki since either he attacks/jumps and takes the 200 damage launcher from Victini, or he blocks and takes the command grab that leads to wallsplat and 200-ish damage. Pokken has a few unblockable setups, limited to an attack assist and a command grab timed at the same time, but this one’s the hardest to set up practically and also the one with the most reward both ways, which is what makes the clip so cool!
I mean, if he would have Synergy Burst, he woulda killed...but I guess he wouldn't have it for the next round. I was looking at this like "only 173 left? he's HELLA dead" but there was no super to finish it off.
@@sauvagess If I recall correctly, activating Burst tends to reset the enemy to neutral, and is one of the only true reversals. He had the life lead, so I'm thinking Burgy kept the Burst so Greg couldn't make a comeback.
@@lockemyastan6276 It just has an extremely long startup, he could have activated on the wall splat and still land it since they don't recover until they slide all of the way down to the ground.
The best part about Will it Kill is looking at the starting hit and the health bar is hanging around 90%, and literally everyone in chat thinks "How in the goddamn [xx sol j.d] is the combo even close to killing?"
Thanks for the heads up, gonna skip it. I've avoided all material of ER until I play it myself, but now I can't even play it, lol, what with living in Fourth Reich (Russia) and what not.
alot of ppl dont seem to know this but melty blood actually has a guts/defense system that is very similar to guilty gear, which is why melty blood has so many "magic pixel" moments
@@morganlak4337 characters take less damage as they lose health with every 25% increasing the defense buff. you also take less damage when airborne and you take more when crouching
21:48 Even though he took a little step, he hadn't regained even a pixel of stamina by the time he got hit, so he couldn't have rolled. Or at least it seems that way.
I mean first clip was may with some risc and counter 5H in the corner, and the second was a ton of risc into a Sidewinder loop into Fafnir and finishing off with Tyrant Rave Alpha, which deals more damage depending on the number of clean hits you got in the combo. According to Dustloop, the first three hits Tyrant Rave deal 25 damage each, plus the finishing 84 damage hit, but each clean hit you get adds 30 damage to the first three hits, so with 3 clean hits in the combo, you should get a total of 429 damage. Basically, Chipp is fucked.
I can't believe "Arcana Heart" actually made it in. I was skeptical but figured why not and it happened. It's not exactly a well liked series unfortunately due to its aesthetic and cast, at least in the Western FGC, so it's always a gamble bringing it up. A shame since it's such a genuinely dope fighter. Anyway, while I wouldn't call "Arcana Heart" a low damage game, it's not necessarily a high damage game either for various reasons. The most notable reason being that it features decently strong guts. So with the exception of one character who has negative guts, you just won't be seeing explosive damage that often unless the character getting hit is at full health, which will basically never kill. As for what actually happened in the clip, oh boy, there's surprisingly a lot to explain... The reason Akane is doing those jutsu signs is cause she's stocking up on Kotodama charges, which can be found under her health bar. With each stock, she can cancel a special into another special, which allows her to do those Dragon-Kick-into-Dive-Kick loops. She can have a max of 3 stocks at any given time. Akane is also paired up with Anutpada, the Time Arcana. And there are a couple things to explain about it. The first is how Akane managed to hit Konoha. Time allows you to set a fully charged 5E or 2E, which are dedicated launchers, as a trap as long as you keep holding down E. Let go of E and the attack goes off like normal (negative edge essentially), even if you are nowhere near it. You can see Akane set a fully charged 2E at the start of the clip and release it when Konoha started using an Arcana Super. The second is that one of the Arcana Specials you get from Time is a point blank hit that time stops your opponent in place for a few seconds. You can see it at the start where Akane refills on Kotodama stocks and a second time during the combo leading into the Arcana Blaze. It's often used for oki and set play since damage in this state is heavily scaled. The third is the aforementioned Arcana Blaze, which are the Arcana's ultimates that fully deplete your Force gauge (found right under the character portraits) while in Extend Force (an offensive RC-like burst state with various benefits, depletes your Force gauge while in it). The Arcana Blaze for Time, after a lengthy start-up, time stops the entire field for a good while. And I guess while I'm at it, Time's benefit in Extend Force is that you move 1.35 times faster. A simple but interesting effect to say the least. I hope something from that wall of text above made sense.
the main thing that led me to even knowing about Arcana Hearts is hearing about thoroughly silly inputs (namely the pentagram motion), was that only in one game or is it a thing in the series?
I haven't played Arcana Heart, but as a DOA fan, I understand how it feels to have people dismiss our game without even giving it a try, so I might have to give it a look just for that.
Never mind the stun noise in Karnov's Revenger, those Zebra's and their "Would you fuck me? I'd fuck me." stance and stare is weirding me the fuck out.
I went back and checked the damage on the melty blood kohaku super, saw it was 7 damage, posted a comment, pressed play, and Sajam said “that did 7 damage.” I thought I had the comment sauce but he hit me with the youtube Will it Mix
I was trying to find more Kinnikuman clips and clicked on a Fatal Fury livestream by accident and that clip was the first thing I saw Speaking of, glad everyone is enjoying the Kinnikuman clips! Really wish the game was more accessible because it's an incredible game
My singular claim to fame is saying “This is a low damage game” as I truthfully bet no on the Planetman clip, and having it be echoed by streamer man himself Those SBFP fisticuffs episodes on the series prepared me well for this day
That AH3 combo at the end is some serious combo video stuff. It's definitely not a normal combo. AH3 is a fairly low damage game, but Konoha is a low health character and it was WIK so I figured it had to be close. The combo definitely did not disappoint.
Went 16-4, got over double my points with 50k turning into 120k. Super happy to see a Pokken Tournament clip, and in the first half at that. I'm beginning to realize that I need to step up the quality of the clips I submit if I want them to make it in. It's rough finding the perfect moment for an obscure game.
Tell me about it. I've been on a mission to find clips for some of the lesser known fighters I like and it's not that easy. I've straight up been resorting to multi-hour Japanese arcade uploads and just hope I find something while casually watching them. Surprisingly, it's been working oddly well. That "Arcana Heart" clip at the end was one such example. As well as some of the featured "Nitroplus Blasterz" clips from the last couple WIK's. Japanese arcades man, stuff happens in them.
To explain the last Arcana Heart clip, those dive kicks are something she has only 3 uses of that she has to charge up by doing that animation where she claps her hands together, and she has the Time Arcana which is allowing her to freeze the opponent so that she can fully stock her dive kicks over and over in the same combo.
The lion was so zooted he didn't feel the need to attack the zebra, chill mode. Edit: after seeing a zebra demolish barrier freeman later on, I see why the lion kept distance earlier.
The day Sajam shows a clip that is full HP bar into magic pixel, i will drop my strat of voting yes if it looks like it's too far to kill and no if it looks like it's too close to kill
You know, it would be cool if Sajam had his own prediction. Like, when they're filtering out what clips to play, just an extra column on the sheet for Sajam's prediction. Right after the betting closes, he can put up what he thought would happen and kinda play along. It'd be fun seeing his perspective, with his more personal experiences as compared to a lot of chat.
So fun fact: the pokken combo didn't kill because wall bounce damage can't kill in pokken. When a phase shift (switch between 2d and 3d) happens on a move that would have wall splatted, the person getting hit gets bounced off the wall instead and loses health to compensate for going back to neutral. It can't kill though, so the lucario got left at 1 health even though they had 3 hp after the last hit that could have killed
19:40 im aware sajam mentioned it but i i would just like to bring attention to the fact that this SUPER MOVE a move that cost RESOURCES that can provide fundamental tactics and be a threat to your opponent or a shield in your darkest hour did SEVEN WHOLE ASS DAMAGE IN A 5500+ COMBO worth
12-7-1 this show. Couldn't vote on the E. Honda clip cause that was mine. The reactions were too good. XD Thanks for putting this one together. It was a blast!
Hey! I posted the Elden Ring clip with the Red Dog of Radagon guard break into BITE combo! Yeah I didn't really need Vigor till later parts of the game since I was doing fine, but I also didn't know the Moonveil was such a hated weapon at the time, the game hadn't been out for too long! Thanks for shouting out the clip
You have no idea the hoops I had to jump through to get Blade At us from shining on steam in my country. This jank ass game is dope and Pairon is a top tier waifu
"Who designs these characters??" I am not joking when I say that almost every Kinnikuman character was designed by a child, the manga always had submissions open for fans to send in their own wrestlers. Which is how you get a man that is a urinal.
Hey Sajam, I'm not sure you've noticed this but when you show a clip that is a timestamp on a video you can look up it kinda ruins it. The vote % goes from somewhat 50/50 to 70/30, 80/20 etc. It's probably an annoying amount of work but downloading the clip and playing it will fix that issue.
@@FirroLP Duration sure but how is the title part of it? Like most clips in these videos are titled "wik submission" or something that is completely unrelated to the outcome.
Went 2-8 in the 1st half then managed to go 10-10 by the end of the 2nd half. Will it Kill is always a blast to watch, thanks for bringing it to RU-vid Sajam!
I got 7 guesses in a row correct during the first half (7-3 going into halftime show). I got 12:16 correct (SOL)ely on the argument of: "It's a Sol clip. Sajam's a Sol main; he's not gonna show a clip where Sol doesn't wreck someone." UPDATE: Final score was 14-6, which is prolly THE BEST record I've had in "Will it Kill?" thus far.
14-6, not bad for me. The Pokken one got me because I forgot how wall-splat damage works. I went Yes for the Arcana Heart 3 based on principle, but wasn't sure if I was right or not up until I saw the Time Arcana show up. And I was super confident about the Persona 4 clip, until Yukiko did the Shadow Burst and I realized I'd made a terrible misjudgment. The games I knew the best I did the worst in lol
Same... I voted no on Antonov! "Why didn't he manual max for the easy TOD!?" ;) I don't know Persona much but I also voted no on Yukiko based on previous WIK clips...
on the elden ring thing, I had a funny moment where I was fighting that magic dragon to get the key to get into the academy and I had it down to a pixel of health, but when I did that, it went into it's stagger animation. Since this animation looks VERY similar to its death animation, I thought "Yeah, I killed him. Time to emote on his ass" and I just stood there until I saw him get up. I got so scared because I was confused how this damn thing was COMING BACK TO LIFE, but I just used a panicked light attack on his leg and THEN he died lol.
Every time I go to watch Will it Kill Sajams like "Here's a game YOU ALL KNOW" and it's always like Strive or SF5 and I'm stuck completely clueless, but when he posts a game I know he calls it out as being old man games none of us know 😢 I am not the audience
MY MAN! I was the May in that clip! When I did that super I also would've voted no lmao, when you died I literally covered my mouth and uttered "no way I just did that"
First WIK I made it to live' 1-5 and I went from 3 months worth of points to 13 points, I stand by the rock even if it's used to smash my piggy bank and take my money
