Blazblue: Calamity Trigger - Awakening The Chaos (Nu-13) | Reacting To Video Game Music! 

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Blazblue's soundtrack is godly. We definitely need more of it.

BlazBlue is on the menu! I recommend "Must Die", "God of War", and "Hakaishin". They're all phenomenal tracks.

So a minor clarification: this song is from the first entry of Blazblue, Calamity Trigger, which came out in 2008. So it’s much older than Guilty Gear Strive, which came out last year. If I had to put a label on it, a lot of Daisuke’s earlier music works were closer to being a score, whereas Strive’s music is much more like an album.

Blazblue was there for us when GG was in a slump. Amazing music, with a lot of different genres being utilized compared to the rock-focused Guilty Gear. Blazblue has more electronic, jazz, and traditional Japanese music elements, obviously fused with rock as well. I'd say the game ebbed and flowed in balance and quality, and the story is even more confusing and difficult to understand, but the music was always amazing.

Alexandrite, Oriental Flower, Gale, Childish Killer Blazblue Calamity Trigger/Continuum Shift really is one of my favorite Fighting game & OST combos. (as for the other entries, Stand Unrivaled & MUST DIE are choice picks) This track in particular I will forever associate with the online lobby system of Continuum Shift.

I think waffle was mentioning the Diva from 5th Element there in the beginning and he's so right, I had to think of that, too xD But that "duet" between the singer and the guitar was something I really liked a lot in this track :D

I still can't believe and am super appreciative that the 'final boss' of blazblue has 3 *separate* themes that are all incredible. Like I know very little about the actual story of these games but Susanoo' is still one of the most badass villains I know of just from his in-game animation and music

A little bit of history since you mentioned not knowing which came first, Guilty Gear was Daisuke's baby, being a series based on ideas for a world, characters, and story he initially had based off the rock music he loved, with music he composed, and him even voice acting the main character for the first few installments. And this became a popular franchise, but going into the PS360 console generation his company Arc System Works lost the rights to Sammy Corporation. This series was made to have a spiritual successor to Guilty Gear until they later got the rights to it with Guilty Gear Xrd. Daisuke still composed the music but a lot more ArcSys staff was involved in its creation too. This song is originally from the first BlazBlue game, Calamity Trigger, for the arcade and story final boss Nu-13

I always liked this theme's Build up ever since the 1st blazblue game. When that eletric guitar started blasting... I felt that.

Basically, pick a character theme from Blazblue and you'll have a near guaranteed banger on your hands. One that may escape notice, sadly, is actually a transformation theme for a sentai-inspired character called Bang Shishigami. The song in question is called "Beat a Nail With Your Hammer" which is sung by the same guy who did Cha-La-Head-Cha-La, the first opening to Dragonball Z.

Another game Daisuke composed for is Hard Corps Uprising. A Contra game developed by ArcSys. Lots of great tracks. Highlights are: - Stage 1 Desert - Stage 1 Origins (may sound familiar) - Stage 2 Jungle - Stage 3 Ruins - Stage 8 Battleship

Daisuke Ishiwatari's work on BlazBlue definitely has a different flavor compared to his work on Guilty Gear. He employs more symphonic elements, but also electronic and jazz among others.

This has a variation called Awakening the Chaos II. It has more vocals and more is a hard instrumentation. It's also very creepy.

You need to hear Ragna's themes from this series. Both versions of "Rebellion" and "Black Onslaught".

I really love this track, but the thing I love the most about this track is how suddenly it drops into full blown metal.

blazblue has some bangers. more instrumental and varied than guilty gear but just as good. I recommend Sword of Doom 1 and 2, they're great one after the other. also Yomotsuhirasaka.
