So much tech death I can't latch onto because it's impressive from a showmanship level but I don't remember anything a half hour later. Archspire nails the balance of hooks and technical madness for me here.
It's Archspire, Enough said. They are amazing and now my favorite band has finally released their new album tomorrow If you cut the album you'll find Gold Blood!
@@KytexEdits Yes!!! I'm actually about to right after I finish up the last three3 tracks off of Mastodon's album. I'm on Gobblers of dregs.. then First Fragment is my next target. Thanxs!
@@patras458 I really dug that album too. Looks like Ghost Bath is taking a more straightforward black metal approach on this new album, should be interesting.
Archspire is one of my favorite bands in tech death so I'm anticipating this album greatly. This and the new Be'lakor I'm looking forward to the most tomorrow.
“It is insane how much piss I am currently surrounded in” -metal metldown 2021 Really hyped for this album, drone corpse aviator is the best of the singles imo and has me looking forward
I'm sorry to any fans But this is the most hilarious album I've heard all year Oh my God! The vocals synced up with the drums had me on the floor at times. It's not bad at all, it just cracks me up
Yeah I’m so excited for new Archspire especially since their last album was one of the best Tech Death albums I have ever listened to. The band definitely has the best wank out of all modern tech death band while being brutal and violent. I can’t wait to to listen to this new album when it does come out. Also speaking of Tech Death I just got Gorguts Obscura and Pleiades Dust on Vinyl. I can’t wait to scare Trick or Treaters with beautiful Dissonance😊
Im glad you picked Archspire cause ive been waiting for this. Also just want you to know i started coming here for all the stuff about bands i like but i stayed and subscribed just for your delivery. I watch stuff on bands that i dont even care about because of it 🖤🤘
So I was gonna review this tonight, and then Season of Mist had the nerve to stream the whole album earlier today. Thanks guys! Archspire is quite arguably the most promising technical death metal band to grace the scene in recent years. Rapid speed and complex compositions are the name of the game here, which may not be so surprising for the genre. The difference in this case is that each member of the band is immensely talented and ridiculously calculated at what they do. You may think that this would make the music sound robotic or masturbatory in nature. You would be wrong. So, so wrong..... Bleed the Future not only superseded by expectations, it blew them out of the water. It is, quite simply, their creative zenith. In a coliseum of guitar wankery and snares that have gone through their fair share of abuse, Archspire doesn't just reign supreme, it may as well eat the other competitors' guts from the inside out in an act of glory. Everyone sounds in top form here, and this contains some of the band's finest tunes to date. Drone Corpse Aviator I've spun an unhealthy amount of times, and is some of their most brutal and intense material yet. Although, there is one problem I have with this album....it's too fucking short! I need more, dammit! In all seriousness, easily my favorite tech-death album of the year, and it slides a spot in my year-end list by far. With other strong contenders from the likes of Ad Nauseam, Cannibal Corpse, Rivers of Nihil, and more, it's getting increasingly to sort everything out. Uhhhh all the tracks are my favorite, thank you for coming to my TED talk. 4.5/5 The contest may not have ended, unfortunately, but Archspire is more than just a competent contender.
Metal Meltdown: 110% correct on all counts Metal Meltdown: *Listens to the new First Fragment* Metal Meltdown: Ummm.... looks like there's more delicious golden piss I have yet to sample
I never got all that into tech death, save for a couple bands that I happened to come across and really enjoy. Because go this, I also never subjected myself to the vast amount of wank competitions that I'm sure exist. However, never have I heard a band both as speedy and technical as well as catchy and melodic as Archspire. Absolutely insane stuff. Loved all 3 singles, can't wait to hear this one.
A lot of metal albums are releasing tomorrow, and while I am not sure that I am going to be head over heels for all of them, I am nearly 100% positive that I am going to love this record. Thanks for the review, and I'm glad you enjoyed the record :D
Pierced From within was 1995 Non So Vile was 1996... So yeah. There was an album as brutal and technical after that one :p but after it, Archspire for sure
I've still yet to hear a tech album as interesting as Martyr's Warp Zone and Feeding the Abscess (I'm not counting avant-garde tech like Ad Nauseam or Gorguts because they are stylistically very far from what most consider tech death), but Archspire are one of the VERY few modern tech bands to hold my interest after a few listens. They have a peculiar balance of elements that keep everything moving forward in a coherent way and generally stay clear of what I can't stand in the genre. Will be listening to this one today and looking forward to it.
Thanks for the review Man! Hmmm.. Well see if this tops Alluvial this year lol. Check out the new albums from Mastodon and Bad Wolves. Have a great day bro!
this album won me over ,I have following these guys for a while but this album over my morning coffee was like fuck yes lets get this day moving , and now its night so the whisky flows and gigs are opening up again Mad love from Japan
At first sight, Archspire seems like your stereotypical Tech-Death band on steroids that consumed steroids. But once you listen closely you see all the different layers and textures that bring such uniqueness to their songs and make them stand up over what i like to refer as "Meat And Potatoes Tech-Death". I only could get all of this at the beginning of the year so i'm knowing what i'm walking up to with this new album. We still have the new Necropha- i mean Obscura album for next month so we'll see which one is better.
Correction. It actually is a stretch to say that fans are living in that time loop-"constantly arguing over who's more technical...". You know that is a trope that is actually not true. 109 comments. Not one comment arguing or bragging over who is more technical or brutal. Please give up that trope.
I'm not yet sure if the new LP is on par with Relentless Mutation for me. There are some great songs, like A.U.M, Abandon the Linear, Drone Corpse Aviator, Golden Mouth of Ruin and the title track, but others left me completely cold so far, as if they were generic (for the level that Archspire are capable, of course) fillers. Meanwhile, every single track on Relentless Mutation is a fucking banger.
The only thing im dissapointed about the album is the A.U.M song.. holy hell that song ended WAY to Fast, it had so much potential to be heavier as the Sample on the beggining of it suggests.. Other than that the album was 10/10 and AOTY for me.
Tbh most tech death probably came from Dr. Strange. It spends too much time trying to outsmart itself and live forever until something new comes along and eventually kills it.
My opinion on Archspire is more neutral than anything else: I don't hate them but I've never really understood the hype either. Now granted, I've only heard a few songs so that probably is not a good standard to go by. I will put this album on my list to check out. Also, I am going to have to respectfully disagree with on you Archspire being the most brutal or nastiest in tech death (based on what I've heard so far). My vote on that goes to Nile. Nile is vile.
I tried to like this one, it did have a couple cool moments but as a whole I didn't love it. It seemed like someone wanted to play advanced guitar warm ups as fast as possible.
I can definitely appreciate the brutally of the production and the technicality of the instrumentation but it just felt a bit one-note and limited track after track for me.
Come on Meltdown we all know you gave it a high score just because they are from Canada 😒😅 Jokes aside this album is absolutely insane. Archspire really outdid themselves with this one.
