💨💨 Tin and room note are of sweet buttercream and sugar. My wife (who is somewhat averse to tobacco aromas) complemented the room note. The sweet toppings are the feature player, while the cavendishes are very mild. Initial light was a touch difficult due to the moisture present but with an average number of relights. Left some doddle and moisture in the bottom of the bowl. I experienced no tongue bite. I didn't find anything offensive about this blend but, as with many cavendish based blends, found the flavor to be far too mild. I could see this blend appealing to smokers who favor mild aromatics above all other, but I prefer a more complex flavor profile in my blends. The topping was appealing, but was not enough to offset the mildness of the cavendish. 2 out of 5 Puffs
💩💩 excellent scent that can be sensed immediately after taking the lid of the tin off- smells like a chocolate hostess ding-dong and has the same room note. Typical Boswell’s quality for moisture and freshness. The tobacco burns very well- slow and even-and takes little effort to get a good light. However, the cavendish when burning was so oily and no matter what pipe or how gently I’d breathe I kept getting bad tongue bite and could never enjoy the rich flavors of the tobacco. 2 ounces started caking up the bowl no-effort. The only thing that ended up working for me with this one was smoking in my Big-Ben with 9 mil filter. Only then was I able get the dark cocoa and caramel notes of flavor to come through. I was hoping for this to be “drive home from work” go-to, or a “ wine time” dessert pairing, but it just wasn’t my bag.
💥💥💥💥 I bought this blend a few years ago. Back when I was just starting my pipe journey. I couldn't taste much back then, and in the Mason jar it went. I got it out for Blend Club and man....what a difference. Super sweet and just good. Smells good, tastes good, and no bite. Another really good blend from Boswells. Well worth giving a try if you like sweet Aeros.

👌👌👌👌 I have to say that this one surprised me. I thought this one was going to be one of those blends that is all aroma and no taste, but I was wrong. Very pleasant taste that didn't disappoint. The taste was as good as the aroma indicated which isn't a common occurrence for me. Very fun blend to smoke. Would buy this again.
☁☁☁☁This was one of the first blends I got from Boswells when I started going there. Very good aromatic, I too have gone to English blends but always keep some of this on hand. Definitely smells and tastes like a cupcake.

Did not have to relight but I did run a pipe cleaner through about halfway. I will be adding this to my cellar. Flavor: Sweet mellow vanilla bake goods taste Room Note: People raved about how good this smelled.
🐻🐻 I only give this one 2 bears. It's very wet out of the jar, so I have to let it dry some, and even then it still smokes a bit wet for me. It's not that I don't like it, it's just is a little boring to me. It reminds me a little of a fig newton in the jar. It smokes very mild, almost too mild, and I do get the cupcake vibe from it, but I guess I just wish it were more. It's a decent dumb reach smoke, but not something I would go out of my way for.
💨💨💨💨 Absolutely loved this blend. Smoking through a cob and the room note was just as good as the flavor. It is definitely a sweet cupcake flavor from the top of the bowl to the bottom. Big fan of this blend,went through the original tin I purchased and had to reorder more. Great warm weather blend and an all day smoke for me...
👍👍👍 I agree with muttnchop’s sentiments about suggestibility, but I think this blend really does a great job of backing up the flavors and aromas that it advertises. I’m really not a huge fan of sweet aromatics like this, but it’s extremely well executed. If you’re into the sweet stuff, you really need to give this one a try.
😁😁😁 1/2 - it was a very creamy cake and icing flavor. It was not too sweet nor did it bite. This was my third bowl, the first two were in a cob and this one was in my Savinelli bing favorite and it was a treat to smoke. I will buy more of this.. 🧁🧁🧁🧁 Not an aromatics guy, but so far, both from Boswell have been great. Cupcake has a great room note. My mom and fiance approved! I really get the flavor of buttercream and a background of buttery cake. Trying an experiment. I mixed what is left of my Cupcake with what is left of my Honey Roast. I did like the Honey Roast more. I have had only one bowl of the mixture, but thought it was fantastic. Ready to try the Magnum, and just ordered the next four months. Let's see some videos in-between the reviews Chris! I love to watch while having a smoke! Keep your pipes cool brothers and sisters of the leaf.
I'm giving it a 😊 😊 . I was very excited as the smell from the bag was a mix of cupcakes and sugar cookie for me. I'm going to admit I'm not an "aromatic guy" and sway towards latakia based blends in general, but do enjoy some from time to time. I'm particularly fond of those with vanilla or caramel, so I looked forward to cupcake. I found it very moist and my bag had large pieces if Cavendish that required crumbling by hand. That's fine, but even after drying it was moist and required frequent relights for me. The overwhelming thought I got with every puff was that it was just an underwhelming smoke for me...slow or quicker cadence....I tried, but just couldn't enjoy the smoke even half as much as I did the tin note. To me, it did not have a lot of taste while smoking although the room note was fine per my wife. It just didn't click with me hahaha. I still have some left and will age it and try in future
👍👍👍 3/5 thumbs up. If you like aromatics then you’ll love this creamy sweet blend. If you don’t like aromatics then you should avoid this one. Tin note is like smelling a bow of buttercream icing. Room note is very pleasant. No tobacco flavor. A tad wet out of jar, needs a bit of dry time

I was in the marine corps myself. I have been following you but I haven't none the blend club. Just started smoking a pipe about 3 months ago. Bought the 8, 1oz sampler from Boswell's yesterday.
👍👍👍👍 I am giving it 4 out of 5. It was consistent through the bowl and had a good room note. It wasn't my favorite but I would buy it again. The moisture was just right on this.
🔥🔥🔥🔥 This to me was a more pleasant blend then the sweet tea blend. The taste was very consistent throughout the entire bowl and it did not wane. I was afraid this was going to be too sweet after smelling it in the bag, but it was not. Great level of humidity out of the bag and it burned consistently and evenly.
🧁🧁🧁🧁 I love JM Boswell baccy. Cupcake is certainly an interesting blend. I smoke it in the Jeep for the lingering room note, and it leaves a pleasant enough mustache note. Smoking it is fine. I would choose Boswells Best or their berry blends over cupcake almost any day for porch smokin or smoking in the study.

JM is trying to deck out his smoking lounge in Alexandria store. Suggestion would be to send him a T-shirt …blend club 2022 T-shirt, I know for sure it would be displayed!
😒 The bag note was very promising extremely aromatic great cupcake smell. For me this was the beginning of the end. I packed my pipe using the frank method, Smoking a white elephant briar pipe no filter. I found the tobacco very difficult to light, and the tobacco that I received had large chunks of Cavendish. After three lights I remembered why I stopped smoking aromatics, I found the tobacco harsh and even with very gentle puffing using the breath method it was still harsh and biting. The flavors were very subtle as the tongue bite was the forward flavor. I was able to taste them but only barely. I had to relight the bowl numerous times even though the bowl was not overpacked. As good as the honey roast was as an aromatic, I found this blend equally disappointing. I will try a few more bowls just to make sure I was not having an off day . I am still very thankful for the opportunity to share opinions and for those that like this blend I am happy for you. Sincerely
💨💨💨 The aroma is AMAZING! When they call this Cupcake, they don’t mess around with the aroma. The taste, while good, was a bit light for me. It reminds me of Eileen’s Dream just a bit lighter. It’s a great tobacco and something I would recommend but wouldn’t hunt down. The moisture was great as all Boswell tobaccos are. For newbies, I say try it and see if you like it.
Nice review. I regret not purchasing a few of the aro's for this year's blends....I dont smoke everyday so I wanted to get the ones I thought I'd like the most...at least I can always come back and watch this again when I do get some!
1.78 average (1, 1.8, 1.8, 2.3, 2) for our 5 man club. Some comments: boring, one note, creamy, smooth, artificial sweet. Overall, this was our least favorite so far.
🔥🔥 I have to say this smells terrific, great tin note. Smells like a cupcake, no doubt. BUT, it is slightly too moist for my taste...a little drying time helps. I can definitely taste the cavendish and sweetness, but the butter or cake taste is lost on me. No bite, which is often a problem with me and aromatics. I won't File 13 it, but I doubt I would buy it again. YMMV...another great video Muttnchop!
🥃🥃 nothing wrong with this blend at all. Lower raining due to personal preference. Big baked chocolate taste turned me off. If you like chocolate cake (which I don’t) this blend will hit that for you.

🌲🌲🌲 this was ok for me, kinda reminded me of smoking cotton candy. Nice blend but I probably wouldn't pick it up again. The girlfriend loved the room note, so much so that she commented the next day that she was hoping I'd be smoking it again. That why I gave it a 3/5 instead of a 2/5.
💥💥💥💥 This one caught my eye when first looking at Boswell's blends. A year and a half after purchase and it has maintained its moisture very well. Smells great and is a very smooth smoke that leaves the room as if the oven has just been turned off and the fresh goodies are cooling on the counter. One of my favorites thus far.
Well sir, you have convinced, going to order some of this from smokingpipes if they have it! I always have to be careful buying tobacco because I have to pay import duties and where I live there's a very small selection of tobacco shops. 😔😔 I hate to be one of the few but this one just didn’t do it for me. Don’t get me wrong, it was good but it wasn’t all that. The tin not did in fact smell like a cupcake but the smoke was only eh. I wasn’t getting much flavor.
🧁🧁This started off sweet and not much else. Soon I tasted that nice vanilla cake flavor. Sweet aftertaste. As I continued to smoke down the bowl all I could really get was the sweet aftertaste.(which was nice! but I wanted more cake and not just icing) It's extremely mild. No tongue bite. Hard to keep lit while trying to keep it cool. Two emojis. Not the worst tobacco I've smoked but I wouldn't buy it again.
This is my favorite aromatic... today. I would say if I had to pick this moment my desert island TWO, they would be this and Fribourg and Treyer Cut Virginia Plug. I love the tase of both of them both unburned and smoked. Chris, have you ever given a 5 smiley face emoji rating?
🧙🏻♂️🧙🏻♂️ I just couldn’t get behind this one. To me this was more like smoking a stick of butter than a cupcake. Opening my bag the smell of fresh baked cupcakes was definitely apparent. Cut was a good length however I had to let this sit for 30+ minutes due to how wet it was. It packed easy and stayed lit well without overheating severely. Room note was pleasant. Unfortunately the sugar taste was completely masked by the butter flavor. I won’t be purchasing this again.
You should get one of those sampler packs some tobacconists have-they will have examples of English, Virginias, Lakelands etc and should all taste quite different.
👍👍👍good stuff. I don’t smoke many aromatics but this is tasty. No nicotine to speak of and comes pretty moist. Smoked better for me after a few hours dry time. My girlfriend, who just started smoking pipe with me, loves the stuff.
🔥🔥 Definitely my least favorite of the group, so far. It's the only Boswell blend I've tried that had a very artificial flavoring to it both in the tin note and the smoke, as well. It was pretty much perfect moisture but so are nearly all of the other Boswell blends. Really struggled with it as whatever the topping is just tastes overly chemically to my nose and mouth. Won't be buying this one again, unfortunately, and I've become a Boswell fanboy since this year's Blend Club so that's saying something!
@@BNeffDC Right? Maybe it has to do with our taste buds as I generally don't like highly artificially-flavoree food/drink, either. Not to jump ahead too far but the Magnum blend, to me, is an excellent and naturally-flavored "aromatic" light English blend. There's a big difference between toppings and casings using natural ingredients; that is, high quality alcohol, vanilla, fruits, etc. VS artificially produced/extracted propylene glycol food products. Both are viable options for flavoring but some of us are more sensitive to the PG or other artificial flavorings than others!
🤡🤡🤡🤡 OMG What a tasty treat! Boswell has done a superb job of capturing a taste that exemplifies all those wonderful additives. The pouch note is Angel Food-esque. Happy Birthday rang in my ears. This blend holds a buttery cake front note with just a lovely meld of creamy icing, vanilla-caramel and a soft native Cavendish zest. Holds true for the entirety of the bowl. Mechanically its buns cool and even for a delightful experience. Don't keep a lot of aros in my standard rotation but this one is definitely a keeper.
