In this video you will see a new introduction in Blender 4.0 Alpha of Agx that is a new color management system with better dinamic range and saturated color by using Cycles render engine.

Finally! I used Agx on 3.0 as I hate Cycles's filmic look. But I still use Octane mainly, and that looks better anyway. But great to see Agx included on 4.0 nonetheless.

can you please answer this (because you use octane) have you noticed an improvement in cycles over octane with the new energy conervation/specular highlights. There is a problem when viewing specular highlights and normal data at certain angles, octane handled this well, but have you noticed cycles looking better than octane, or is it sill behind in that aspect? thanks

@@josiahgil In my experience, Octane is better than Cycles in any regards, except Cycles is a bit faster, but this may vary depending on the scene. And Octane is also less stable, at least on Blender, but I use the addon version which is in Beta at the moment. There is also a custom Blender build with Octane. It is pretty annoying at times with the bugs, but I just can't live without the incredible look Octane has out of the box, and also its simplicity at setting up basic shaders over Cycles, or things like its texture displacement. But in reality, if you know your way around compositing and color grading, Cycles can look as good as Octane or better. But then this is another step to take into consideration, and you can apply it to Octane as well to enhance its look.

​@@peterpicture Thanks I have noticed that by default, blender light paths samples are low, for the most realistic results i set it to the 'full global illumination' preset which sets ever path to 32 samples. Idk if this improves anything over octane, but it makes cycles look much better.

Agx handles colors more accurately at higher luminance wheres filmic collapses them into 6 colors. It's not about shadows.

I had something like this. Called Pixel Manager. It gave me different lighting, just like luts for photoshop. But now when I upgraded to version 4. And after copying and pasting the files I used in 3.6 They do not show up. Almost like it's reading the default file by force. I've checked many times to see if they would be reading from another folder. But I can't find anything. The only folder I can find that contains the proper spot to place the files in the folder through steam. And suggestions on why I wouldn't be seeing them?

I know that many addons on Blender 4.0 need a code-level update on Python, because they have changed many things, try to see if they have released an update or you could open a ticket reporting the problem to the developer
