Here a book buyer. I love the book, the updates and the short video format. But this kind of longer videos are so good. Thank you for everything form Galicia, NorthWest of Spain.
The result is definitely gorgeous! I still like doing detailed terrains manually, by creating a plane then adding a big subsurf modifier then using a procedural texture to offset it. The geometry's usually okay but the material will take a lot of manual tweaking to get right.
Wow. With so many recommendations for the CG Boost course. I'm definitely considering it. I don't believe I've seen another course with such hype before
Because my 1-minute video about Blender GIS caused some confusion, I decided to make this longer version. 🗻 Get Martin Klekner's Environment course on CG Boost: academy.cgboost.com/courses/enrolled/1239704?affcode=206256_rrysbore (affiliate link)
If I hide some geometry for a render instead of deleting it as you did, would I also lower the memory amount used and thus possibly prevent render from crashing?
Great video, as all your video's are. Would I be right in assuming the GIS addon is heavy on memory for laptops ? Cheer's, stay safe & keep on smiling 👍🦘
Thanks! Yeah, I don’t know how much memory you need but it takes a while to do its thing. However, that might just be the downloading of the texture and height map. Although I found that my computer (32 Gb of RAM) ran out of memory unless I removed the faces that were outside of the camera fulcrum.
@@BlenderSecrets Thanks for that. I'll give it a try, the worst that can happen is my laptop crashes, freezes or bursts into flames. Thanks again for the tutorials, i've learnt a lot from them plus the way you present them is really good as well. Cheers, keep on smiling.
Hi, i can't seem to get this add on to work. When i try to generate the basemap, i am unable to click on anything in blender. Not even any of the sidebar menu items, or anything. The only thing i can seem to do is move around the default cube, light and camera by clicking and draggin on them. They are also all grouped together seemingly, as they all move together. The map doesn't show up or anything, it just goes to a top down view of the default scene. Really strange
pls kindly do a viseo on how to select the correct tracks for floor in blender tracking. I always get the floor wrong. it always doesnt match the floor
Great secrets. I’m looking to take a large topo map like you made and import street and river layers on it. The street data I’ve tried to download can’t cover anywhere near that amount of land without an extent error popping up. Is there a trick for downloading large topo+street data other than making multiples of maps and combining them (street vectors don’t line up this way)?
Your tutorials are so good. Your Gas is equally great. I on the other hand cannot get BlenderGIS-masterzip to work on my siliconMac. Am I missing a setting? Thanks for any insight.
@@BlenderSecrets My GIS sorry. You're right Safari does unzip but I use Google Chrome to download the zip. It still isn't working for me? Is there a setting or something that I'm over looking? Thank you.
@@gdematteis9023 Hmm, in that case I recommend asking the BlenderGis developer. It should work, maybe try an older version of Blender (2.83 for example) to see if it works there - could be that it's not up to compatibility with 3.3 yet.
