Thank you for this basic introduction to the shader editor & geometry nodes. As a person just learning to get around in the Blender interface, I greatly appreciate that you explain every step you take, explain why you’re taking the step, and do so slowly enough for us to follow along (and can rewind the video to look at it again if we didn’t quite understand the step/process flow the first time) as we gain understanding. Also appreciate those experienced commenters who add incite or alternative ways to achieve the same/similar goals. I’ve subscribed to your channel.👍

Wouldnt it be better to create two separate materials And then combine those two materials using the mix shader node with the mask set to the factor?

That would also be a possibility yes! However, since there isn't a 'better option' between the two, i thought that introducing the MixRGB node would be more helpful (this is a beginner tutorial after all). But thanks for your comment!
