Fragrance Families/Group Notes Oriental - Vanilla, Cinnamon (These are oriental spices) Floral - Rose, Freesia, Jasmine, Plumeria (Be advised Jasmin and Rose are quite different) Aromatic - Sage, Ginger (Herbal-ish notes) Wood/Moss - Sandalwood, Oud, Cedar (Deep, Earthy, Masculine) Citrus - Lemon, Orange, Mandarin (Fresh and Clean) Fruity - Apple, Watermelon, Passionfruit (Sweet and Juicy) Almost every fragrance ever will open with a citrus or fruit note (Top Note) then follows a floral middle (Heart Note) and then almost always a Wood or Oriental base note this is to give your scent body and background. If you want to build your own scent with top quality longevity follow this.

This is a very common tactic in vape shops is they'll mix flavors. I mix my own fragrances as well to keep my products a bit more exclusive. I have a few good scents like Oudh Abyadh Misk, Japanese Amber, Mukhallat Iterji and Extravagant One. I may try to create more because they are all in popular demand.

I started blending oils for soaps first, because they were my original product. I still do soap, skin care and now a few candles. I started blending with the small 1oz. bottles we all get as samples. I bought perfume blending sticks and would work off those to help design a new scent, therefore not wasting precious oils. I hope this helps some of the others wanting to learn how to blend. I thought it was something you kind of missed in talking about blending oils. Feel free to share it on a video. As always another enjoyable video! ;)

NOOO! Never use perfume to scent candles. Most have an alcohol base. Alcohol plus fire is a really, really bad combination. Don't use anything not specifically made for candles.

Davis Bell I started about 3 months ago. What I found out was - it takes a lot of experimentation. Watch a lot of candle-making videos, but keep in mind what works for others may not work so well for yourself. Sometimes you have to find your own way. That said, this channel is one of the best with a lot of good common sense advice and easy to follow instructions. Good luck and have fun!

If you can cook and have no recipe it will come naturally. I worked at a fragrance store and became the go to person. Customer came with an idea and I'd run with it and hit a homer every time. A little girl Was shopping for father's day and wanted something special and I just asked her a few questions, picked about five scents and she and her mother loved it. Came back after the holiday and said dad loved it. I do my thing. Lol.

Yes i blend my own oils even for soap. Some i reveal and note is as my own, i tell others if u see anyone with my own this is where it originated. Sone i rename to give nothing away. And portion can change any scent. I tend to know my blends and may not need to measure bcs my nose will recall how much of what i put in to make up what i originally done. I can mix a dirty scent and make it very light and subtle. But yes ur correct.

Hi! Thanks for this video, I started making candles about 3 months ago. Two of my fragrances are just different proportional blends of 2 scents, and they smell so different. I make beeswax candles, 16oz mixed with 4oz of coconut oil (after so much trial and error, this works better than strictly beeswax). Would you happen to know where I could look for info on how much coconut oil would be safe to add to my beeswax? Saving a little more money in production would be great, but I’m afraid I don’t know enough about waxes...

In your opinion, when it comes to experimenting would one be able to just mix the oils without making them into a candle and still get a good sense of what the smell would be or is it best to actually make the candle with the experimental mix and then test the smell? And if one can just mix oils without making them into a candle to test the smell would they have to use the same amount of each oil that an actual candle would call for or could they just mix like five to six drops of each oil? If it were you what would you do during experimentation? Thanks in advance!

I am having such a problem with my hot throw,candle smells great cold and nothing when lit,I’m doing everything at the right temperatures so what is going wrong?
@aaronroseman
@aaronroseman 3 года назад
Try the low temperature method. I no longer follow manufacture guidelines because the hot throw is weak. I add my fragrances at 105° and I pour at 99-100°. When you add fragrances at 185° and wait for it to cool at 135° to pour, ALLLLLL of the fragrances are burning off while you’re waiting. Try the low temp method instead, but you gotta make sure you stir the wax more towards the low temp so it doesn’t begin to solidify in your pot. I hope this works for you as it does for me!

Hi Standley! I’m very new to candles, but I made the decision to blend my own oils because I’d like to separate myself. How do you go about testing wicks with the mixed fragrances? If I’m understanding correctly, some FOs require different wicks. Also, is testing HT more difficult?

Hi. To test your fragrance you will need a Bootle that seals closed. I learned that you can take a q-tip dip it in the oils you would like to blend. Seal it for about 1 to 2 mins. Then smell the fragrance you've created.

No. Cuz one will over power all. Try smelling then separate clearing your pallet every time... Then put all of the bottles together and fan towards yourself to get the idea of which will be the strongest. Then go from there. If you have a scale that will help. Make notes of how many ounces. And adjust. Just do go crazy in the beginning.

Just a note, "premium" is a meaningless word. Anything can be called premium. There is no regulation of that word or base quality. Its a fake marketing term. All fragrance oils are synthetic.
