Most definitely martial arts in the black communities and the hood is a very great therapy and relaxer for black people that live in poverty and are surrounded by gangs and drugs and violence and murder I grew up in that type of environment and I do martial arts and it’s always been my therapy and made me happy 10 years of doing martial arts now will be 11 years in either November or December of this year 🐉🐉👊🏾👊🏾🥋🥋✊🏿✊🏿

This is amazing. His point about no proper stance is great - wing chun, or any other art shouldn't be rigid about proper stance, because you'll often get forced out of your "proper structure" when you meet resistance. The training is light hearted and fun as it should be! Why do people always have to look at training from this serious perspective, when training should ultimately be something you do because it's fun? People don't love to wrestle or box or fence because it'll prepare them for the street. People who love to do it, love it because it's fun.

truely a thing of beauty to watch someone with sensitivity training work, understanding balance and weight distribution w colapsing joint manipulation ..mad respect! is it better to train with your back against the wall to simulate real close quarters...or even in a door way perhaps

I just love how this sifu is laughing and having fun while doing the sticky hands drill . This was basically the way Yip Man was when he was teaching this drill . Unfortunately nowadays you see way too many of his descendants being too serious in sticky hands .

I really like this kind of exercise because it shows that fighting is not done with sight but done with feeling. When in a confrontation, you will be touching to your opponent and you will be too close to be looking around to see where he will be striking. Rather by practicing this kind of technique, you can feel where your opponent is and you use your sense of touch to know what your opponent is doing. I love it!

I've been training martial arts for over 25 years. This is one of the best videos I've ever seen, in terms of showing the true spirit of training. I thought the video looked like the basketball court in the Village in NYC by 6th Ave, but then I did some searching and found out you're in Thompkins Square Park. That is my old hood - down on Clinton. Next time I'm in the Village, I'd like to come by and shake your hand.

much respect to the Rasta. he's a better WC practitioner than Izzo, thats for damn sure. im sure you felt the difference in his sticking hands and he expresses a very great point about being in stance at all times... through out the whole video his structure barely changed and his spine never bent. im not trying to diss you but ive seen a few of your videos putting down wing chun and in this video i see that your not even relaxed, thats the reason why he took control of you so easily, and effortlessly. he exposed to you a bit of the SOFT nature of wing chun... but dont confuse soft with weak. because the truth in power COMES FROM RELAXATION. much respect for this video, i hope you dive a little deeper into Wing Chun and gradually change your perspective of it.. an another thing, Wing Chun isnt just close range combat, its ANY range combat. but if you learn how to fight and DEVELOP FORCE in close range, it makes you all the better a distance fighter... with that being said, not too many people or wing chun instructors/fighters know how to use internal force and deep relaxation IN ORDER TO DEVELOP/GENERATE THIS CLOSE RANGE FORCE, most of them dont even know a damn thing about chi... but those who do can REALLY damage you in close range. if not kill, at will! Salutes.

First remember its bout the fighter not the art.if you dont question the art you will fail no art is perfect neither is wing chun IT HAS MANY HOLES AN GAPS JUST LIKE every other art so i care not for styles just the outcome of the MAN
@RizZen007
@RizZen007 9 лет назад
i highly agree, and thats the absolute truth. they say, Wing Chun is ever evolving. Or... are there just different levels of mastery to the point where these disadvantages, holes and gaps are overcame and filled. I dont know TOO much about the "details" of the history of Wing Chun... but i like to look at it like this... during times of the wars, i think with the Ming Dynasty.... when life/death was an EVERYDAY or ANY MOMENT possibility.. you dont think back then people were MUCH MORE advanced because their lives DEPENDED on it? Not only that... Wing Chun was designed off of Fujian White Crane, Snake, and Emei Qigong... so Wing Chun is originally a Soft AND hard system (true example of a Yin and Yang). The Soft/Internal/Qigong aspect of Wing Chun was almost lost... and if im not mistaking, during times of war, training large scale amount of soldiers made it a waste of time to teach the Internal aspect... with that being said, MOST practitioners of Wing Chun rely too much on the HARD side of wing chun. but the REAL training and the True Power resides within the SOFTNESS. Keep peeling the Onion of Wing Chun and go deeper in the layers tho... even when Bruce Lee taught his Jeet Kune Do... he taught it with the Siu Nim Tao and a Wing Chun background.... NOT because he wanted to fuse two styles or systems or point of views.... But... because Wing Chun is the science of the body fighting, i think he knew deep down, before you go "making up a new style" to have the "science" behind it.... Like i said tho, i wish i could train with yall tho, i dont ever have people to train with. .... just here and there.

great vid, i knew wing chun had to have had an influence. Especially seeing a different vid where you were doing infighing drills inside of a barred area about 3-4 feet in length & width (another great vid). I love how mr. sharpe seamlessly transitions from sticky hands to push hands & still controls body movement (w/out any negativity & superiority). He seems like a truly nice person, very rare nowadays. thanks for the vids, keep at it!

Ive never seen this style before but its like you can see a hint of grappling and jiujitsu in there and i see you using a lot of 52 block parrys and a lot of quick inclose strikes that you have to slow the video to see! You retreat right into a powerful offense its incredibly powerful and fast your strikes are and you always exercise RESPECT during your attack and defense! its like you have to be mind readers of sorts to see where the shots are coming from becase they come from everywhere. and in close! Nuff respect!

It was a good video. I thik the problem with peoples perceptions of fighting is that they don't know the difference between sparring and fighting. Not only that but also how to see while sparring and enjoying oneself the jewels of the art. Just because there isn't power, it doesn't meant there isn't any. Likewise because there isn't any visible strikes, it doesn't mean there aren't any. GREAT VIDEO, I just wish I could have been there.

there is a difference between learning shapes and using those shapes in real time so a stance you may use when you are hitting the wing-chun dummy is going to be different from the one you use in real time..so that why a lot of his moves look more fluid..good question...LGD

I have fought Green Berets, Cops, sparred with Sifu Emin Boztepe and been trained by him. I have fought with a dislocated shoulder in a full contact match against two different opponents back-to-back and won. I have sparred a professional golden gloves welter weight boxer in small quarters and won using Wing Chun. I used to fight for money and got paid. I have defeated a black belt in Taekwondo, I had continued my training with a German cop that competes in Thailand.

A building is ALWAYS structurally sound, because its Designed that way. A fight systems also designed2 provide max stability at all times. If ur not aware if ur knee bend, or any other part of ur limbs in 3d space.. then u have not trained to the correct level of application. Especially at speed& pressure, when awareness is challenged even more so. Super-conscious Awareness is pretty much only gained thru specific snails-pace slow motion style drills, that last 1hr min to complete.
@Jericho11894

May I leave a comment? Basically, I understand you wouldn't see this in a fight to a certain extent, but this is a training method for when your hands are grabbed or being deflected, or even in close quarters with the lights out. You can compare this to the grappling method they use, if I remember correctly, they use a method called the "swimming method" for grappling in wrestling. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that would be a an example of UFC when they get close. Not being rude just saying.
