This summer I was flying out of San Antonio TX, a city of nearly 2 million people, and who do I hear call my name? A student of mine who was on the same flight. Her mom was dropping her off and was obviously worried about her daughter. Now I had intended to ignore everyone and rest as I usually do. My student said “mom now you don’t have to worry. This is my GT teacher Mrs. Rasco, she’ll will take care of me!”. Now all i was thinking was “ummmm....I’m on summer break.”. That mom’s eyes lit up with relief that her daughter would be safe with someone she knew until her family met her at the end of the flight. When I saw that I knew I had a higher purpose to be on that exact flight on that exact day. Did I rest on that flight? No. Did I bond with one of my students in a way I never would have been able to before? You bet. Don’t miss your blessings!
You're right; that was no coincidence. A year ago my husband had a stroke while on a business trip in another state. I hurriedly got on the next flight out, and who was my seat mate? A woman who was on the board of the hospital where my husband was! She calmed me down on the flight and drove me to the hospital herself. No coincidence! I was on the needing-help side that time...You were on the helping side this time.
Beautiful story. We truly never know how the Lord is going to use us in someone’s life. Our pastor’s sermon last Sunday included the point: Compassion > Convenience. “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.” Hebrews 13:2
Oh, you dear, sweet perncipal. That is a GREAT lesson. And you're right: that weren't no coincidence. Every child should have an encounter with someone like you. I taught for 38 years, and students like that young man, those "different" from me, always made a soft place in my life.
You have no idea what that story means to me!!! I'm a nurse in a nursing home for reasons like this!! I've been working for years to be able to afford to take this job! Pay, well money is less, but what you get instead of a paycheck is alot more!!!! You make me proud, KENTUCKY PROUD!!!
What a lovely story! We have a daughter who has special needs. She is 28 years old and will likely live with us for as long as we can take care of her. While she is pretty high functioning, she still needs assistance and reassurance. That was no coincidence that this young man ended up seated next to you. Thank you so much for taking the time and patience to guide him through his flight and for alleviating his fears. Both of you were blessed that day. Thank you for sharing your story.
PCTLadyPuterTutor .......Take heart. We have a 48 year old special needs daughter who lives with us and as we are aging she is the one who reminds us to take our pills on time and helps us when we are having “feel bad” days. She is a magnificent blessing and we are so grateful she’s ours!
Aww Sir you are so beautiful 😭. Thank you for being who you are, the kind of person God wants us all to be. I'm very blessed that my husband is one of those people.
It’s moments like this that make me proud to be an educator. Love all the kids you get, especially those that are hard to love. You may be the only love they get all day.
I wish you had been my sons’ principal. They are grown now but I wish you were my grandsons’ principal. You have such a caring heart for children who aren’t perfect. They matter too.
Kids of all ages are a blessing ❤️. The conversations they have with people and themselves 😂 are a blessing , funny, interesting, entertaining and beautiful.
Spoken like a true educator. All my teaching career I reminded myself that every child I taught was someone's child and told myself (no matter how frustrated) to treat the student as I wanted my child treated by others.
Ditto. I was an assistant. Lol the more the child needed help, the more I loved helping them. My favorite? Our little one who told everything on everyone. I talked to about maybe being a detective later on, but first she'd need math, science and English and how to keep a secret! She changed Immediately! Lolol The teacher and I loved her so much. So many other stories too.
What a wonderful experience that young man will never forget nor will you . You were the topping on his exciting Disney World trip ...and he was your angel flight blessing ....thank you for who you are...GOD BLESS!
That story was a blessing. I pray as teachers and school staff return to schools this year we all search for such blessings. And 'that child' in our presence is often a blessing! #20yearsteachingandstilllearning
All people should be this kind to others. What a wonderful world it would be. Thank you for making me smile today and every time I watch one of your videos!
You are such a blessing, my children now 37 and 40 was also blessed to have principals and educators, in the public school system where they went. It certainly helped shape them into the men they are today. Thank you again 🙏🙏 🚌
Your posts are BLESSINGS to the masses, not just educators. The LORD is using you to bring joyful entertainment to some & deep thoughtfulness to others. You make social media a positive place. I am grateful to subscribe to your channel. Keep rocking our worlds.
Not enough thumbs up in the world for this video. It made me cry and laugh and be forever grateful for people like you in this world. You were indeed blessed, and then you gave a blessing to those who watched this! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing! Being a mom and teacher of a “different” boy. I thank you for appreciating this boy! God is Amazing! Thank for sharing this blessing ❤️❤️
Amen, and yes, that was God. I work with students that have special needs, but really, they all have needs, just different kinds of needs. Not a day passes that I don't think to myself, this could be my child, how would I want him/her treated? It is definitely a thought we should have when talking and working with students. We don't really know what happened last night, or this morning at home that may be causing them to get in your last nerve. To remind us all, it's not about you or me, it's about the kids. Thanks for always sharing such great video reminder's.
You are a blessing ❤principal Brooks! People are put in our life for a purpose. I wish I worked at your school. I have taught for 31 years. Mostly in Kindergarten. Its my last year. 🎉
Thank you for reminding us all that the person helped and the person helping are both being blessed. I would hate to know how this would've turned out if you hadn't been there to help. I am very grateful that there are still good people like you in this world. Videos like this, truly teach us all a lesson. Keep them coming, please.
Hello Mr. Brooks, I am a bilingual teacher in Aurora, Illinois. Aurora is a city located in the western suburbs. Exactly two hours from Chicago. I've watched this video of yours, many times. After a school year that seemed like an eternity (9 students out of 14 with ADD, IEP, Autism) today while I am enjoying my first week of vacation, I have returned to your channel, to enjoy your funny but, certain stories. Let me tell you this, when you said, "that was not a coincidence", it made me cry and feel an emotion in my heart that I did not expect. I could feel that God gave me the task of working with these 9 students, for a purpose. Thank you so much for making us laugh and think. God bless you greatly!
I agree best video I have seen that you have made!! It was absolutely not a coincidence. You are a good man! And I do believe all our students are put in our classroom for a very specific reason!
