PonyWatch keep in mind mlp with the rating of the show they can't actually say their dead hence why they just hint at it plus a lot of staff even Lauren Faust said their dead
This was a pretty emotional episode. I bet it would be tragic if Celestia's evil version Daybreaker would show up and threaten to burn Sweet Apple Acers to ashes including the tree Bright Mac and Pear Butter left behind would it ?
Grand Pear's last memory of his daughter was making her cry during that wedding. Never got the chance to reconcile. That is seriously messed up if you think about it.
+Shonksu Considering they refer to them only in the past tense, it's safe to assume they are deceased in some way, though the show can not directly say it, the tone says it all.
They probably never knew of the tree because it was in the West Orchard, which has been abandoned for years due to the fruit bats living there. If you watch Apple Family Reunion, Granny Smith mentions them abandoning that section. And the most likely reason the parents never mentioned the trees to Applejack or Big Mac is that it would bring up questions they are not ready to answer yet. And they probably died before they ever had a chance to bring it up.
Yea I thought the same thing alot of people always asked how they never seen the tree before, Applegeek is the only reactor i seen that talked about that in his reaction.
You know, I can't help but think that the parents death has something to do with AppleBloom. Has she ever mentioned remembering them at all during the show ? It just seems like whatever happened, happened around shortly after she was born.
No she has not ever asked about them, the last time they were mentioned is when Applejack said their mom and dad would be proud of her in the episode Crusaders of the Lost Marks, other than that Apple Bloom hasn't said anything about them, out of the three Apple sibling she is the only one who wouldn't really have any memories of them.
Ok. So again, I am thinking maybe their deaths are linked to AppleBloom in some way. That is my Headcanon at this point until they say otherwise. I am thinking whatever happened probably happened sometime around Where the Apple Lies. AppleBloom is curiosity absent. As well as the parents. This really gets me wondering about the age differences between the Apple siblings. It would make it so much more easier to guess if they would give us at least how far apart they are.
This is probably the most times I've rewatched an episode. I've lost count. It's still amazing to watch more and more people to react to it. Surprised you guys were still blind to it.
Mehless i've watched probably six different reactions to this episode alone after watching the episode for the first time a couple days prior. Can't get enough of this gem of an episode.
When I first saw this episode I cried a lot it is a farmer version of Romeo and Juliette....It's sad to think that Granny Smith accepted her into the apple family while the Pears rejected their own flesh and blood. My heart goes out to GrandPear because his hatred for the apples ran so deep but he is probably left with nothing because at least Granny Smith had her grandchildren.
This is the sweetest and most beautifully written episode ever(my #1 favorite of S7)! I simply adore Bright Mac and Buttercup, I'm so glad that these two finally get to be in the spotlight after so many seasons and your're right, they are the best couple ever! There's been a lot of feelsy episodes and this one is definitely up there, near the top(brings me to tears every time I watch this). It's great that we've gotten deeper into the family history of the Apples. I'd like to see more episodes that revolve around the parents when they began their new married lives and had the siblings, as well as Grand Pear because he's a great character.
The mood of the entire thing pretty much confirms they're dead. I have a theory why they don't use the words "dead" or "kill" because TV-Y forbids it. However, "destroying someone" is quite alright. XD Imagine Applejack comes out and says "Y'all wanna know how mah parents were destroyed?"
Yeah, I'm pretty sure they've made a conscious decision not to explicitly say they died. I don't think that's because TV-Y forbids it though. I looked over the standards, and those ratings seem to focus on excluding things like violence and sex, they don't prevent shows from merely mentioning death. Besides, MLP has gotten way with way worse than simply _metioning_ that someone died sometime in the past. They've actually killed off characters on-screen. (I.E. Sombra)
findingbuglantis Well also everyone else they ask about them ends up crying after talking about them. I dont want to even consider what else could cause that reaction than them being dead
Finally! Someone caught the past tense of words like, "loved" and "they had . . . " Did ya'll see that William Shatner voiced Grand Pear and Felicia Day was Buttercup. Great react guys lol.
Personally I really love how this one turned out. This is one of the few reaction videos we've posted that I ended up watching myself in its entirety just because I was enjoying it so much while editing. XD
This episode just makes me always tear up and tugs at my heart. The Romeo and Juliet aspect of the parents love story was beautiful and the song was amazing. It really is a song that anyone in love can relate to. And the fact that they subtly say their parents are no longer there with them. It really tugs the heart when you realize Grand Pear never got to apologize to his daughter for leaving her during the wedding. Granny clearly held this against him for years until the end of the episode. She let go of her hatred for Buttercup the moment she chose to be an apple, giving her the comfort of the Apple's home. Even so it's possible that the Apple Siblings might have only heard snippets about their parents but not the entire history. Still this episode is just perfect and your reaction was great
Yeah, I've considered that, and it makes sense then, in some cosmic way, that Big Mag would end up with her. And I'm thinking that at some point, those two will get married, and draw Big Mac away from the farm, to start an apple farm in her town.
I mean, them being missing or stuck in a time loop would be better than them being dead since there's a chance they could return. But it would be said that the rest of the family wouldn't have the closure of knowing what exactly happened to them.
I love this episode! It is more then likely my second favorite episode of the series, my favorite being Amending Fences. (Amending Fences just hit me on a personal level). This kind of story isn't new, it basically is Romeo and Juliet. Star crossed lovers whose family can't stand each other. But it's just a plot point that may be so cliche it just works on so many levels. And for MLP FIM to blow this kind of plot out of the water for me and make it amazing; well that is just great to see. It made me cry so much the first time I had watched it, and even watching it now still gets me teary eyed/and even crying. The Apple parents are definitely dead, the hints before this episode with the series, the hints in this episode, plus the line they left something to remember them by, that just sells it to me. Plus everyone acted in a way that you would if someone you cared for was dead, yeah there's no denying it. Talking about old times, and the like. I can't see anyone having any doubt about them being gone after this episode. (Unless some people are just in denial). Such an amazing episode, love it so much! Great reaction and can't wait for more
I'm surprised that none of you cried! XD I always feel a tear at 20:33. Especially when Apple Bloom starts crying. Love the reactions! Keep them coming! =)>
I don't know about David and Andrew, but I personally find it hard to cry about movies/tv shows when there are other people around. I probably would have cried if I were watching it by myself with no camera involved lol
Yeah definitely second what Kristina said. I usually come closer to tears re-watching episodes on my own than I do on-camera. That and listening to the songs. If I let myself, I can actually tear up listening to certain songs from past episodes and fan works.
Bright Mac has Big Mac's build, Applebloom's mane and coat, and Applejack's honesty Pear Butter has Big Mac's mane colour and kind heart, Applejack's coat and Applebloom's personality. This is like a romeo and juliet story. Two families in a feud, with one of each their children fell in love.
I'm pretty sure one of the show's staff members confirmed at a convention that the parents are supposed to be dead. Now will they change that or show how they died? Maybe, only time will tell.
Wow I enjoyed your reactions guys. So true and honest thanks for sharing. Imagine if y'all wasn't spoiled on ep 10. Your reaction would have been 20% cooler than this.
Hi ponywatch, I love your channel and the way you react to this series. Just in case you don't know, well you might already know, Episode 14 of my little pony season 7 comes out August 12 of discovery family summer splash, you should totally do a reaction on that, too. Great job, and I love you guys. :)
You may have already looked it up *i mean 2 years* But best i could find was pear was killed by timber wolves and bright died to an illness. Not sure if thats head cannon or not but its what came up
Did you also know that there is a movie of my little pony coming out Oct 6? Yeah, you should see the trailer of it, we would love to see your reaction on that, too.
To be clear, none of us read the synopsis. I was just saying they _released_ a synopsis a while back and as a result there were some people who were talking about it being "the AJ parents episode" long before the episode was even released.
😔I got to tell all of ya something me and my friends search every were to find wut hapend to applejacks pageants and we fond it apparently it was a monster tall as a castle and it killed Applejack's parents when they were walking in Ponyville and then that evil monster wised up and kill them I'm so sorry for body me and my friends we we cried and you try to see if there was another explanation but nothing else got up so I'm so sorry everybody😔
Not dead. Just not allowed on the farms. Apples cant go on Pear farms an Pears cant stay on Apple farm. So they are drifters. if they where dead. Applebloom would not exist.
