Arguably one of the first Supergroups in rock history. Steve Winwood on keys, guitar, vocals, Eric Clapton who needs no introduction, Ginger Baker on drums and percussion who is one of the GOATS, and Ric Grech on bass and violin. One album and they broke up and went on to make history. Great song, a classic album really that demands that you give it a listen in its entirety. 🔥❤️✌️

This is the only acoustic song on the album. After Cream broke up, members guitarist Eric Clapton and drummer Ginger Baker got together with former Spenser Davis Group singer and keyboardist Steve Winwood and bassist Rick Grech to form Blind Faith, which lasted about a year. You have to check out "Had To Cry Today", at about the 6:40 mark the song gets a whole new life when Clapton and Winwood both start trading guitar licks through Leslie speakers. In the same way, Clapton's "In The Presence Of The Lord" gets transformed half way through with one of his few uses of wah wah. The vehicle for Ginger Baker's drum solo, "Do What You Like" shows a Joe Morello influence in that it is in 5/4 time. Steve Winwood became a big thing when he joined The Spencer Davis Group at 15 as singer / keyboardist. You might have heard some of their hits like "Gimme Some Lovin' ". In 1968 he played organ on Hendrix's "Voodoo Chile". He was the leader of the group Traffic, and later, as a solo artist, had a hit with " Bring Me A Higher Love ".

Stevie Winwood was 21 when he did this and he was already a 5-year veteran. He wrote classics like Gimme Some Loving and I'm a Man when he was in his teens with the Spencer Davis Group. Then after this album he had some of his best albums with Traffic in the 70s and later a solo career. HIs voice is amazing, but you haven't seen what he is most famous for - his Hammond organ. Try Empty Pages from John Barleycorn (anything off this album is great) shows his organ playing. Or how about this. A few months before they made this album, Jimi Hendrix checked out Stevie playing at a club in NYC (Hendrix was a true music fan, he would record acts he liked on a little tape recorder. Joni Mitchell was shocked once when Jimi approached her and asked permission to record her and she said - sure). Well, Jimi invited him back to the studio at like 3 in the morning and they recorded Voodoo Child, not the fast VC (slight return) version, but the slow raw, bluesy 15-minute version that ends up uncut on the Electric Ladyland album. Jimi and Stevie trading solos on a late night on-the-spot improvised jam. The 60s, wild and crazy and beautiful...

You guys should check out the Spencer Davis Group's "Gimme Some Lovin'" from '67. It's a real scorcher, with Winwood on lead vocals and organ. Wow, what a song. Winwood also had a great hit with "I'm A Man" with Spencer Davis. You can really get lost digging into Traffic, too, as well as some of Winwood's (generally more heavily produced) solo stuff. He's a tremendous artist who can write, sing and play a plethora of instruments including keys, guitar and bass.

It was during his solo career and he played this unaccompanied during the show. Such a great performance ! There is a RU-vid video of Steve playing this solo at his farm in England that is just wonderful. For a real treat, there’s another RU-vid video of Steve playing “No One Knows You When You’re Down And Out” with his band when he was just 15 years old ! Out of all of centuries that humans have populated the World , we are truly blessed to occupy this Spaceship Earth at the exact same time as Steve Winwood. He is a treasure. One of the local bands that I was friends with back in the day featured an acoustic set most nights, with the lead singer playing acoustic guitar. Another guitar player friend and I sat in one night and we dd this song. I played a soft flute-like accompaniment to them on a MiniMoog synth, and it was truly magical. Sorry for the length of this comment. Steve Winwood has been in a few super groups. Here's a band and song that you would enjoy. It was a short lived super group that seems to be forgotten. If you play it and react, many will say ... oh, yeah. Also, others will appreciate learning about them due to the star studded lineup. The song is CROSSING THE LINE ... by GO ... go means "5" in Japanese. The group consists of Steve Winwood on vocals and keys, Al Di Meola on guitar (was called the fastest guitarist), Klaus Schulze on keys (was in Tangerine Dream and a leader in the electronic German sound ... he passed away a few weeks ago), Michael Shrieve on drums (drummer on first 7 Santana albums ... 2nd youngest performer at Woodstock), and Stomu Yamashta on percussion and keys (very interesting musician ... more of a soundtrack guy for TV and movies). Looking at the personnel, you must admit that they were a super group ... correct? Anyhow, PLEASE ... I BEG YOU ... play this song. To have Eric & Ginger Baker together again after Cream was a joy but to see them team up with Steve Winwood. Wow ! Get into Steve's rabbit hole and you will find yourselves in a Traffic jam you wont want to get out of. [ See wot I did there ? Lol ] Byeee Jim X

Ric Grech was in the Band Family before joining Blind Faith. He subsequently was in Traffic with Winwood and also Ginger Baker’s Air Force before returning to play with ex Family band mates in Streetwalkers. Grech’s replacement in Family was John Wetton (Check out Family’s album Fearless! Wetton shines on “Spanish Tide”.)

Great music from a great couple, who always find the best music. Blind Faith was a " Super Group" that sadly only lasted a short time. I always knew him as Stevie Winwood. This track was also performed on "EC Was Here" album 1975, opening track side 2 ...check it out. In fact, I am going to listen to it now, as so great. Winwood and Clapton though have appeared again together, as late as 2020 and there are vids out there of them. I am surprised you have not discovered Cream yet (Clapton, Bruce, Baker).

Steve Winwood first blew the word away at 16 in the mid 60's with the R&B influenced Spencer Davis Group and later fronted Traffic (Rock, Folk, Jazz and Blues influenced) one of the seminal British rock bands of the 60's. Blind Faith was one of the first "Super Groups" and also featured Eric Clapton. Winwood had a very successful pop career in the 80s also

I always associate this song with the ending of the movie Fandango. Perfectly captures the mood of that flick. If you haven't seen it, check it out - an underrated gem, with a super strong sound track throughout. The last ten minutes, with this song capping it - unforgettable. One of my favorite scenes in all of cinema.

As a teenage music prodigy at the ripe old age of 16, Steve formed the Spencer Davis group before Blind Faith, then formed the super group Traffic afterwards. He also had a very fine solo career in the 80's with a number of great hits like "Back in the High Life Again". You could spend weeks covering his music. "John Barleycorn Must Die" is my favorite Traffic album. It just never tires after 50 years. Thanks!!

The supergroup Blind Faith (Eric Clapton, formerly from Cream, as guitarist: Steve Winwood, formerly from Traffic, as organist and singer; Ginger Baker, formerly from Cream, as drummer; and an excellent bassist/violinist) had a short U.S. tour (14 concerts or so) in July and August of 1969, and my then-17-year-old brother and my then-almost-14-year-old self were fortunate to win tickets to see Blind Faith from a radio contest held by "FM 100" (rock radio station in our hometown of Memphis) - the tickets were to the tour stop which was geographically "closest" to Memphis, which was the Sunday August 3, 1969 concert at Kiel Auditorium, in St. Louis. My brother and I flew up from Memphis on Delta Airlines, saw a (then-brand-new, premiering) film "2001: A Space Odyssey" in the afternoon, saw the wonderful Blind Faith concert at Kiel, that evening; however, it had some unexpectedly lengthy encores; this caused us to miss our late-night ticketed Delta return flight to Memphis. We tried to hitch-hike (as was mostly quite safe and quite customary, in those years) on the nearby I-55 expressway for a ride to the airport in St. Louis, to call our parents and ask them to wire funds for a new return-flight airline ticket; however, co-incidentally, a trucker who gave us a ride was going not to or near that airport, but was going straight through (in the wee hours of the morning of Monday the 4th) a truck stop in West Memphis, Arkansas, before heading on I-40 south to Little Rock in Arkansas; of course, from our perspectives, it was a thousand times better and cheaper to do this, than to have gone to the St. Louis airport. We could then call our parents in Memphis from the truck stop in West Memphis, and explain the situation (there were no cellphones back then which would have allowed for an earlier call), and they were so delighted that we were both still alive and well that my father left his work (self-employed) and picked us both us from the truck stop in West Memphis -- with NO questions asked !!!!! GREAT Memories -- except for the worries of my parents !!!!!

Blind Faith was formed by Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, and Rick Grech. Winwood started with Spencer Davis Group and Traffic. Eric and Ginger both came from Cream. Blind Faith were only together for one album and tour then broke up. I was lucky enough to see them in concert in Oakland! Steve was very young with Spencer Davis Group. You would probably like Keep On Runnin' by them. Traffic's Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys among others is also great.

Great song guys. Blind Faith was a short lived super group as most of them are. You had Eric Clapton on guitar & vocals, Ginger Baker on drums, both from the band Cream, Rick Grech on bass & Steve Winwood on vocals, keyboards & guitar. Steve was also in the band Traffic & the Spencer Davis Group. He's also had a nice solo career.

Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker from Cream, and Steve Winwood from traffic. In 1971 As a 13-year-old I had to get the album. Plus the album cover as a topless teenager on it for a 13-year-old is a bonus. And I listened to the album over and over. “Had to Cry Today”, “Can’t Find My Way Home”, “Well All Right”, “Presents of The Lord”, and more.

So glad you reacted to this Blind Faith classic. I knew you’d love it. The guitarists are Steve Winwood and Eric Clapton. There’s a great video on YT of them playing this live together in 2006 with a great backing band. You've reached the pinnacle of '60s rock.. the Cream, as it is, since two members of this supergroup came from Cream. Winwood was among the elite of the era as a songwriter, musician and singer. Finding Blind Faith is like......... coming home.... and the whole album is great.

Steve Winwood started with the Spencer Davis group, went on to co-found Traffic, I've had the pleasure of seeing Blind Faith in 1969 and oddly enough, was at a Santana concert in Milwaukee during summerfest, and when the concert was over, walked into summerfest and ended up standing on a picnic table with my wife watching Steve Winwood, who was appearing on one of the many stages there. You should check out the " Low spark of high heeled boys"😎👌👍

I have loved "Can't Find my Way Home" for decades ... I'm 52 yrs old now, so this song is actually older than I am. I think this song has been in my life since the beginning ??? I can't actually remember a time when I didn't know it intimately. I feel like I don't get to hear it often enough. Such a fantastic cautionary tale about the trap of addiction. This just aged so well ... like a beautiful fine, mellifluous wine. If you two are going to go down this road of 60's nostalgia ... like back to the 'true trailblazers' ... I would love for you guys to blow the dust off of an old jacket, and react to a song that was so far ahead of it's time that I hadn't even heard of until the 80's when Streetheart picked it up and gave it a new life. I'm talking about 'Tin Soldier', a song that 'arguably' kicked off the entire North American Glam Rock movement (LOL ... In my opinion) . For 20 years I just assumed that this was a STREETHEART original, until one day, by complete accident, I heard a version that was (what I assumed) a Low-Fi cover of 'Tin Soldier', ONLY better. It had a rawness to it. It had a passion to it that was almost palpable, like you could taste it in the back of your throat. I was tricked into thinking that some GENIUS new band had done some sort of a ... " REVERSE COVER" ... of this song that I had been loving for decades already (2010ish by the time I finally heard this 'new crazy version') and made it sound older and yet better, in every important way !!! I was blown away once I started digging and discovered that STREETHEART were the 'cover-culprits' and had (in my new opinion) RUINED this masterpiece. Yet somehow it had still done very well in the USA. Maybe on the strength of the pure genius of the original ??? LOL, I don't know, but ... in fact, 30 years after the song's original release, MOJO, the WORLD'S LARGEST UK MUSIC MAGAZINE, voted "Tin Soldier" the tenth-best single of all time, in a readers' poll. So ... OK ... STREETHEART did it 'justice', LOL, I was just mad because I got fooled for so long. Anyway, PLEASE DO A REACTION TO ... " TIN SOLDIER" by The Small Faces. (circa 1966) It's important that you search "THE" Small Faces because they changed the name of the band to just ... "Small Faces" ... when Rod Stewart (pre Solo Career) and Ronnie Woods (pre Rolling Stones) joined the band after Steve Marriott ( the credited songwriter) left to pursue his solo project, "HUMBLE PIE". I love all these fun facts ...

If you get a chance to see Steve Winwood in concert, I highly recommend going! He often plays a Hammond organ which has such a unique “old school” sound. Several of his hits are used as background music for tv commercials, etc like Back in the High Life Again, Higher Love and Roll With It. My all time favorite SW album is Arc of a Diver, While You See A Chance got the most airplay I think, but the title cut is the best. Listen to it first then with the lyrics...it’s complex but so easy on the ears. I bet you’ll be hooked!
