He may be blind, but Nick Parker (Rutger Hauer) has a way with a sword. The Vietnam vet pays a visit to an old war buddy, Frank Deveraux (Terrance O'Quinn), only to discover that his friend is in deep trouble. Gangsters have killed Frank's wife (Meg Foster) and are holding him hostage in Reno, Nev. Making a narrow escape with Frank's young son (Brandon Call), Nick heads across the country to even the score. Needless to say, his opponents underestimate him -- and his sword skills.

Loved this movie when it came out! One of my favorites from such a great character actor in Rutger Hauer. While it's a little cheesy, it's a great watch just because of Mr. Hauer. This is the man that made villains likeable while you still wanted them to lose to the hero. He did this as Roy Batty in "Blade Runner", as well as the villain in the Stallone movie "Night Hawks". He and the late, great Alan Rickman (Hans from "Die Hard") brought the cool to villain roles - peace and blessings to both of these great actors. But "Blind Fury" was a joy to watch.

I always pictured Hauer portraying the protagonist's hero's role in the Dean Koontz book, Lightning (if anyone should ever dare make that into a movie). That book made me fall in love with reading back in the early 90's.

I loved this movie! Back when VHS was still a thing and you had to drive to a store to rent movies, I happened across this and grabbed it because Rutger Hauer was on the cover. What a great adventure story!

"A strong man is never afraid to die." Back when movies could write strength and compassion in the same character.

Hauer would have made as great a Hannibal Lector as Anthony Hopkins. I’ve been a fan since I was 13. The Hitcher is my favorite Rutger Hauer movie.

This movie was a fun, modern play on Zatoichi Challenged. An old and superb film about a blind japanese swordsman who has a child placed into his care when his mother dies. The entire Zatoichi series is pure gold. Action was always top notch, even f the stories could be a little hamhanded. The actor who played Zatoichi was in fact a hell of a good swordsman. And he was FAST too. Zatoichi Meets Yojimbo was some of the greatest humor I have ever seen in a film xD

And it gets better. Shintaro Katsu was brothers with Tomisaburo Wakyama-the guy from Lone Wolf and Cub. It'd like Arnold and Sly at the height of the 80s were brothers.
