Best voice ever .god bless you shannon. Sad seeing the last days of him,you can see hes not well. He carried on with these shows though, god bless him. A tragic loss.i cant go a day without listening to him. So sad 🙏❤🇬🇧
For everyone talking about how fucked up Shannon is, I just want to say no one fully knows why he did what he did. What we do know is he was going through a tough time. He put everything he had into their second album Soup....and it was met with terrible reviews. Imagine for a minute putting every drop of your creative energy into a big project and the so-called "experts" of the day tell you it's shit. Shannon took it hard, as did all the members. But maybe Shannon took it harder because he was the front man and felt an unspoken drive to lead the band in the right direction. In his eyes things were crumbling around him ANNND he needed to find within himself how to be a new dad. These are big life things (at least in that moment). Shannon was a smart dude. He was also the type of person to push things to their limits. He pushed his music (picture Shannon playing at the Intimate and Interactive show...singing, playing guitar, with a harmonica strapped around his neck). He pushed his voice (countless live videos show us this). And, yes, he pushed drugs. (Not in The Pusher sense.) We all know artists that use drugs to access more creativity. Then they reason, if some is good, more is better. We also know drugs can (momentarily) help us cope. Shannon was pissed. He felt they made a really good record (and they did). What he was really experiencing was a music industry that was behind the times. You could release the Soup album today and it would still be relevant. Unfortunately he couldn't see off into the future so here he is, torn musically, high on H, comfortably numb. So before we judge let's attempt to walk in his shoes. Let's remember this was a man who didn't half-ass shit. He was all in, full throttle. He had something to show the world and got damn did he show it well. Had he made it through this tough time we all know the genius that would've poured out. His best we yet to come. Note: I often think of Shannon when I'm going through a shit time, knowing that if I can hang on just long enough to get over that hump things will get better. His life is a message for all of us ❤️
@@stevedave8891 after hours we only hear or read small percentage of what certain folks do from after work. MTV did there work to keep musicians busy, however in between trips or days they had off. Was a mystery also to them. vanished. Makes sense big majority write art 🖼 somewhere in the unknown.
Well Put! If Shannon waited I wish he could have waited this album would have really caught on. It's honestly an amazing album. To top it all off he left rehab early and that is what I feel did him in. He didn't get the time to learn how to cope with temptations and being alone and okay with his thoughts . Heroin at this point was out of the picture and cocaine was just starting to creep it's nasty self back into his life .
As rough as he looks and as many drugs as he was probably on at this point, he still sounds...really freaking good! It's almost like the damn cd. Pretty impressive and a testament to how tight these guys were.
A rock star never dies really ... but I can't understand why people always looking for to feel exactly like themselves , feel like them or be like them . The dirt of gossip blows into my face . Shannon make in ten years something great. The idols are best when they are made of stone , so thank you for writing those amazin' songs... you left us and said how heavy was the load that made me think your heart was broken . Who can dare to judge you ? ... You was a savage genius on a wayward Cadillac but you stepped down and you sang to us . nikko '18 zh
"Though, i know i can't hide but oh how hard i tried, and this is just the shape im in. Although you know i cant hide, but oh how hard i tried, and this is just the shape im in" very interesting indeed shannon, what was up with you man? we all wish you could have stayed. R.I.P.
And yet the rest of the band was saying Hoon was doing fine and healthy. Even if this footage was the first time someone laid eyes on him, there’s no way, no day anymore would look at Hoon here and think, “That young man looks like he’s well rested and healthy.” And who was the genius to decide recording the second album near the Quarter in New Orleans was a smart idea? The long & short of it is this: the label have the band a ton of dough to record Soup and expected the same sound that sold platinum. The band on the other hand decided to pull the “we want to show our artsy eclectic side (that usually is best to do on album 4, not the second album. Respect to them not wanting to do Bee Girl Music 2, but even The Beatles made a half dozen records before Sgt Pepper. Predictably the label wasn’t happy and the album tanked. Now the band had the label breathing down their necks, expecting the band to recoup costs by getting out on tour & pay back the studio. And I’m sure this young band was worried about losing their record deal if they didn’t tour aggressively even if it meant propping Hoon onstage. They basically ran their Golden Voice Goose straight into an early grave.
@@gabecrockett6574 yeah, the eye shadow iis a rock n roller' junkie's best smoke & mirror triick to hide/thearically exaggerate. As far as I'm concerned, his bandmates pushed Hoon into an early grave. Or earlier.
thanks for the music. i appreciate being able to hear them, including shannon. everyone knows he was recovering. read the book, but still appreciate the music.
The first 2 takes were perfect. The bloopers are great 😅. I love this song.. idk maybe I’m a weirdo but not enough songs are made in this mood about Ed Gein. 😂
Michael Pal it's exhausting living with an addict. It truly is. Especially when your addict is so incredibly fucking amazing and talented but he just can't escape the devil of his disease.
The band expected way too much from Shannon thank you Glenn and Shannon for the laughter and joy that you brought to the music community.. I just hope the other serious people find a way to make money in the future without replaying Shannon's music! Oh I guess that is just the fun loving blind melon thing that we all wanted to be a part of right? Relax, it's not a black tie sort of lifestyle....
Shannon was under intense pressure ! How well is blind melon doing without the person who wrote or majorly tweaked all the songs. They also fired the original bass player a while ago.
It is easy to say in hindsight but they were all young and most of them partied with him but not nearly as hard. It is way harder to recognize things like this when you are young and on tour. Shannon was always wild and crazy and lived in the edge so nothing seemed off to them until it was too late.
@@kyle1m I recognized Ill health and addiction when young, many do, not enough. People should be conscious of physiological states and signs like eyes changing color, voice changing sound, habits, energy and behavioural changes that indicate someone is not doing well. Our society has taught us to ignore this in others. We all need to work on reversing that.
Does anyone else notice that Shanon is very different here from his old hippy long hair look. He is evolving into something else. His voice is the same but there is something clearly different about him during these last months. Oh yeah and...dead puppies.
Hard to believe this is Shannon must have been using harder and harder drugs near the end!! I imagine all his years of Addiction caught up to him!! Such a Beautiful Man with a BEAUTIFUL SOUL and Spirit Deteriorating right in front of us!!! He was gone at this point!! Remove this Video!!! Shannon deserves better this is a Disgrace!!! Look at him at deaths Door!!! Shit Can it Please!!!
The full 120 minutes appearance is here on YT where BM hosted the show, Shannon is fine during that, but this performance must have been at the end of the show, because Shannon is completely fucked here, a mess, definitely on something. Still a decent performance, but obviously not himself, the eye makeup, his facial expressions, etc. I love BM and Shannon by the way, it's just sad, such a waste.
WHY DIDN'T SOMEONE HELP HIM??? Come on, look at him, he is SO fucked up. His looks were gone at this point and his voice is not as good as it once was. Death is not far off here, COULDN'T THE REST OF THE BAND TELL? Pisses me off!!
Janet DenAdel you're kidding right? He had the disease of fucking addiction! like I had. I can't even tell u how many ppl tried to "save me"...it doesn't fucking MATTER ! !!! Unless the addict wants to change!! His lifestyle made it near impossible for him to change! At the end he had a bodygaurd following his every move, yet he STILL found a way to use drugs!! Pls stop. Pls do some research on addiction. No one could save Hoon but himself!!
I'm sorry, Amy Lynn, if I offended you or any other addict or recovering addict. I will not do research on addiction. I don't care really. I forever grateful I am not and will never be in your shoes.
Janet DenAdel I really don't care if you care or not. And it's not about me being offended. Hell, I've been clean for over a decade lol. It's about putting the correct information out there. 😉
Here is some correct information to "put out there"......don't be stupid enough to try drugs in the first place. It's as simple as that. If you don't agree then you are stupid enough to try drugs in the first place.
BLOATED pale his eyes are so scary blackness from being a Junkie!!! Can't believe this is the Same Shannon Such a Tragic End!! Remove this Video Shannon Deserves better he was a Amazing Gifted Musician!!!
Came here to see if others overwhelmingly thought so too!!! It’s haunting to see his eyes rolled back in his head like those old dolls. Jesus. He was FLYING with an ANCHOR on!!! He is sooo fucked up here. His good take is nearly note perfect, but he ainnnn’ THERE. His eyes in this are devastating. You can see he is dog-paddling in the ocean, and is about to go down. GOD BLESS HIM FOREVER. SHANNON HOON & Blind Melon are ETERNAL GIFTS TO US. 🙏🏼♥️🌏
@@lauramalizia9636 Never saw anything like that before. Shannon was So Far Gone. Sad he could not have been saved But the music industry pushes Musicians to the limits to make Big Bucks. Blind Melon pulled out of many gigs & tours because of Shannon's addiction. He was really sick and out of control the band did try to help him. Only so much his manager * band mates could do because Shannon was So Self Destructive. After NO RAIN took off they toured relentlessly for almost 2 years and were Young. They had whatever they wanted at their disposal. A lot of temptations no doubt So many in the 90's Genre never made it out Alive UNFORTUNATELY 😥
