The lack of riffs in California is breaking my damn heart. Outside of Travis Blink was never known for being great musicians, but Tom is still one of the great riff writers in rock. Without him Blink just sounds like every turn of the century pop-punk band that just relied on vocal hooks and ignored the idea of having the music also be catchy via the use of single note riffs.
Yeah, I think the only riff Matt wrote is Brohemian Rhaspody. If he did, Matt should've been much more creative. (Check out This Could Be Love, Radio, Mercy Me, & Kick Rocks by Alkaline Trio for some of my personal favorite riffs by him.)
lol please don't be dumb... that is not better than an actual solo by a talented guitar player.. hes literally just picking chords and moving a bass note lol.. it sounds nice and its okay, but using this as an example to speak poorly of prolific players is silly.
I'd go as far to say the first 6. Hearts All Gone absolutely nails fast, fun old school Blink and Wishing Well is a really ambitious, philosophical catchy tune. Neighbourhoods is 10000000000% my favourite Blink album
Haha , they are so good . No matter if it’s 4 , 6 or 8 , this album is bloody good ! It may favourite work from them , much more intricate Melodies on top of Travis being on top of his game and it’s some great music
I do agree with the first comment, Yes 100% the Tom, Mark, Travis trio is what truly made blink incredible. But Tom without a doubt embodied everything Blink was about and his personality/style made Blink what it was. You can tell just by listening to BCR and the first Ava album even bc several of those songs he originally wrote for the next Blink album. Love or hate him Tom Delonge is the spirit of Blink. 🤘
Man try to take off travis from blink and put a normal drummer...blink will never have same sound without travis and try take away also mark I mean... all 3 of them make blink no just Tom but honestly u r right about his charisma
Nope I'm going to live. Free diving big wave surfing cliff diving BASE jump spillonking climb Mt. Everest and leaving for preBUDs in January hopefully.
I dont know why everyone's hating Tom's voice IN THIS VIDEO! He sounds good here! He's Tunned and not forcing his voice, as in the next years performances! Remember he had back and cancer problems!
Did you read what i said? I said "in this video", we all know in most of the performances from 2012 even in AVA he didnt sound good. I wad talking about this video, anyway he had problems with his voice. Would be stupid to criticize him for that.
"I can't get my feet up off THE edge, I kind of like the little rush you get when you're standin close to death and yer driving me crazy" "Bite your lip, your words a robbery" Tom's lyrics are dope af
travis always kills it. and people are talking abt toms vocals live but i think they’re endearing. reminds me of front bottoms like i’m not a good singer but i’ll fuckin do it for the art
Dude, seriously Travis is phenomenal. I mean his 4/4 high hats are unique and distinct yet he executes them flawlessly. When he comes in with the doubles on 1 and 2, perfectly spaced. So great to the ears. As perfect on video as he is live. The outcome is the same every time. Very consistent. A lot of bands will skip on more difficult beats, riffs, and notes when playing live. Travis seriously never skips anything.
I can't get my feet up off the edge I kinda like the little rush you get When you're standing close to death Like when you're driving me crazy Hold on as we crash into the earth A bit of pain will help us suffer when you're hurt For real 'cause you were driving me crazy Bite your lips, your word's a robbery Do you grin inside, you're killing me All along we talked of forever I kinda think that we won't get better It's the longest start, but the end is not too far away Did you know, I'm here to stay We'll stagger home after midnight Sleep arm-in-arm in the stairwell We'll fall apart on the weekend These nights go on and on and on I can't keep your voice out of my head All I hear are the many echoes of The darkest words you said And it's driving me crazy I can't find the best in all of this But I'm always looking out for you 'Cause you're the one I miss And it's driving me crazy Bite your lips, your word's a robbery Do you grin inside, you're killing me All along we talked of forever I kinda think that we won't get better It's the longest start, but the end's not too far away Did you know, I'm here to stay We'll stagger home after midnight Sleep arm-in-arm in the stairwell We'll fall apart on the weekend These nights go on and on and on We'll stagger home after midnight Sleep arm-in-arm in the stairwell We'll fall apart on the weekend These nights go on and on and on We'll stagger home after midnight Sleep arm-in-arm in the stairwell We'll fall apart on the weekend These nights go on and on and on We'll stagger home after midnight Sleep arm-in-arm in the stairwell We'll fall apart on the weekend These nights go on and on and on
What a performance. Fan for a very long time. Saw them in 2001. This Tom is very close to record quality. I think the 2nd verse sounds almost uncanny to the studio recording. Am I wrong?!!?!?!??!!??!?!?!
Poor Travis at the end, when the crew starts to talk with Mark and Tom. :( I feel sorry for him, because I'd be so embarrassed on his place. Anyway great performance! :)
I saw that as well. He didn't even get a handshake my Conan, poor Travis people think bad of him when they see all his tats. Fucking awesome Travis is fucking tight!
Thanks for live video! The sound of the guitar is impressive! Live is especially good! If I'm not confusing anything... Once I saw a very interesting video of how long Tom worked with sound. And using this guitar model. Now I understand why. 👏🎸🔥
Chalo Pantalones Cuadrados what are you talking about? he plays well, i know a lot of skilled guitarrist that they cant play well some blink songs like the intro of whats my age again, that song is difficult
I hate to say it but I actually liked neighborhoods a lot more than California. Eventhough California is a good album I feel like neighbors picked up where blink left off :(
Justin Reyes exact same. Neighborhoods was a natural progression from self titled, considering they were moving to be more alternative than pop punk over each album. California completely threw away that progression
Dinu Pinguinu' Not the only! They are my two favorite people so I come to this video all the time and just think about how awesome it would be to hear their conversation!
+Dinu Pinguinu' Conan: Hey... Tom... so this giant, like, astral projecting... uuuh... Tom: no... nah... Conan: We have to come dog it... I mean... Tom: well we could totally... Conan: (excited mumbles) Tom: nah... DAD.
Tim Lundin Well, his new recording tone is still good, and his guitar sounds good live, but when you're doing line out, and recording live, it sounds crappy. Live, it really relies on the room to give it the fullness.
I think Travis's drums sound weak, dull snare and light cymbals. Its been sounding like that for the past few years with the exception of this past recent year.
