Great job on this review, Justin! I don’t know if this is the first full review you’ve presented, but I appreciated your style, the additional show-and-tells you did, and the cargo section ad-hoc test.
I know they’re trying to hit a price point so they went very budget on the drivetrain, but this bike is begging for an IGH and belt drive option I think.
Thank you for the in-depth review. I purchased my Packa last summer and love it almost as much as our kids do. When I use the smart pannier bags, I simply lay them on top of the seat cushions. They have velcro loops on the sides which keep them secure for trips to the store, and when they're loaded up with groceries, they really don't move at all.
Great review. I have a Radwagon 4 and am really happy with it. The hydraulic disc breaks on this and extra amp hours seem like a nice plus for Blix. Looks like they both currently cost $2000. Running an upgraded 35 watt controller and some Shinko dual sport tires and I think I have finally found my dream cargo bike set up. Love this style bike. Thanks!
As a person that is housing challenged, this cargo bike would be a delight to load down and ride around. My current regular mountain bike which I converted to electric is seriously screaming under the strain of the weight. The Genie is pretty amazing.
Having a motor on any bike does make it a bit easier to carry things for cargo, but at the end of the day a proper cargo bike can't really be mimicked - they are as useful as it gets.
@@ElectricBikeReport lol, I realize that more than you know, I carry well over 100 pounds with me on a daily basis. My bike is a Amazon Ancheer "Mountain Bike" 36 volt, 350 watt base model which when I rode it for the first 100 miles it wasn't carrying me or my cargo very fast, far or safe, so I installed a 1500 watt rear hub motor with a 35 amp controller powered by a 52 volt 20 ah lithium battery. That worked out well until I started destroying spokes and rear wheels under the tremendous weight I am carrying. After experimenting I am now using a cargo bicycle trailer and panniers to try to keep the wear and tear to a minimum on the bike frame and wheels. The brakes are entirely different story. lol... Maybe one day I will be able to own a cargo bike that was designed, engineered and tested to do the task I am asking of a mass manufactured low quality mountain bike converted to my version of a cargo bike with sketchy and questionable results but for now it gets me from point A-B a lot faster than pulling a wagon by hand. Man I’m stuck between this guy or the addmotor m-81. Both seem solid. Both perform great. If blix did an OD green version. I might’ve chose them easily. It’s a hard choice.

You can definitely do Costco runs if you cut out any junk foods and sodas. Or other large or uneccessary things. I do it every week with no cargo bike, just a regular one and only get the meats, veggies, fruits, eggs, essentials Things like toilet paper and laundry soap only need to be bought a couple times a year and can easily be delivered
8:16 thats almost 4 ft more than the Abound and XPedition...are their shoeter distances due to their smaller tires and wheels (less spinning mass go slow down) or becausecof the tektro brakes?
@@ElectricBikeReport You can see if you look at the bike in profile that the design of the front fork curves slightly instead of just being straight; no idea if it presents a safety/stability concern though.
As a Packa owner, I purchased mine as soon as they came out, and I loved it. However, I had always thought, climbing hills, especially high grade hills, had been some what challenging. Now I see this new review and I am regretting not waiting for the latest incarnation. Is there anyway that I can get the new motor upgrade for my old Paka? While I know this is a question for Blix, I have found that working with them has been somewhat challenging. I had originally purchased the two batteries setup for my bike and, right out the gate, my extended battery was faulty and almost 2 years on, I still have not been able to have this problem corrected. I can only imagine the problems caused by having my 750 watt original motor upgraded to the latest torque monster upgrade. Any ideas, or do you think this is an upgrade that the bikes design can not handle?
probably contact bilx and see if they can sell you the rare wheel assembly. you might also want to consider if the other specs are the same (controller, batteries, etc).
In addition to being out of stock, the Radwagon is quite a bit more expensive. Owners seem to really like them though. The Radio Flyer has a 500W hub motor vs. the Genie's 750W motor which I find is super helpful carrying the kids up hills to school.
