@@TruthSeeker-rn1tm He's talking about Inarius not killing Lilith. Though he thought he did, granted how he thought a spear to the gut was a kill shot to a demon like Lilith is beyond me.
2:45 "Over time, you realize neyrelle cannot do this alone". You mean literally one second after the campaign ends? Not a single player ever thought she was going to be ok lmao, that ending just doesn't make sense. Further proof that our protagonist is as dumb as a rock.
You mean sending a young girl alone through a jungle with the fate of the world on her shoulders and the most evil character in that world trying to corrupt her seems like a bad idea to you? I don't see a single thing that could go wrong
Yup. And you waited only 5 seasons to finally realize that she needs you help . Meanwhile millions of monsters were killed, thousands of loots were destroyed, hundreds of levels were reached and billions of gold were made. Like there’s nothing more important to do.
@@mcmarkmarkson7115 So if it was a boy who couldn't beat a zombie then it would've been fine? Like dude, the "DEI" isn't the problem, the fact they made her weak AF is.
Holly hell, the first cinematics and alpha gameplay footage of the upcoming warcraft mmo in 2003-2004 had people FROTHING at the mouth. (No one has cared about Blizzard games now for a decade)
@@F0XRunnerwatching the tbc and wraith trailers were unreal as well. The hype the attention draw was crazy and that feeling will probly never happen in gaming again.
so we just get a hunch that this jackass is going to fail so we are now forced to go looking for her again (again again) because she cant just ask the person who KILLED LILLITH to help deal with it??? What kind of stupid logic is this?
Didn't this happen before, with Aidan? He was a wanderer trying to contain Diablo's essence, but he did so after slaying Diablo. Nyrelle here didn't slay any big bad demon, yet I'm expected to think she can do better? Are they gonna be like "but but see? she's asking for help, she's not gonna succumb to corruption because she receives your help".. I dunno man, Aidan couldn't do it, Tal'Rasha couldn't do it, heck even Leah in Diablo 3 couldn't do it. Aidan was a badass, Tal'Rasha had the Horadrim for help, including Zoltun Kulle, and Leah had the Nephalem and Tyrael and Zoltun and Deckard for a little while, not Adria though, that one was ebil already. And they didn't make it.
It happened in d3 so of course it's going to happen again. They don't have a single creative bone among the entire dev team. They just copy other ARPGS.
@@appleonsauce2035 Agreed it will either happen to Neyrelle or they'll bait us into thinking it will happen to Neyrelle and then Lorath intervenes to sacrifice himself. I don't see them being much more creative than that.
I would like to see what happened with d3 main character, which Tyrael was feared of at the end. He seems to be forgotten, while having basically god level power. And other characters, like Zoltun Cull and his cube, would appreciate atleast to hear of. I like we got to see what happened with Act 2 main camp, ruined.
Hope Neyrel is offed in the first 10 minutes and we get an actual story. Mephisto at least has some narrative reason to want to fuck with us and get back at us beyond just "im big bad, I wander these lands and sometimes look straight into the camera" for 20 hours like Lilith.
Yeah but girl-boss gotta girl-boss. Plus look at all the women talking throughout the video. I don't know how many did the programming or the art, but they sure talked a lot and probably decided the direction of the expansion
Yes but I mean they are trying to add and change the story to keep the series going. Wonder what it’ll be like in Diablo 10. We’ll prob have Jesus returned taking over earths minerals as a demon..
"Nayrelle seeks a way to banish maphisto back to hell" - then why the F did she leave with the soul stone and say nothing to us the ones who beat Lilith? who the hell is writing this hot garbage? "In the events of Diablo 2, he was destroyed" - Yes, his soul stone was destroyed too, what the hell do you mean he was slowly resurrecting himself? I don't mind if they said something like Baal made makeshift soulstones for his brothers or w.e before we destroyed the world stone, but wtf was he resurrecting himself with a destroyed soul stone? at least D3 made some sense with Adria giving birth to a vessel for Diablo, Maphisto is just "nah fk it I'll just res myself without a McGuffin"
Mephisto and the rest of the Great Evils are immortal. The Soulstones exist to imprison their souls because their souls could just possess a human or go back to Hell and recreate their original body when defeated.
@@Nekogami04 upon further reading of the subject, I guess it does seem to be the case that they are immortal and the soul stones were not originally something they had it was something they created in order to manifest into sanctuary. That being the case, is this true for all demons, or all prime evils, or only the 3 brothers? That being said, Nayrell sneaking away with Maphisto's stone makes no sense.
Huh? I'm not sure I follow. Are you saying promotional material shouldn't mention anything about the plot? Cause that's not a Blizzard thing, that's an everything thing. I mean, have you ever seen people promoting a movie? They talk about the plot quite a lot, like it's a totally normal thing that people have been doing for decades. Have I misinterpreted your comment? Because this seems like a weird thing to take issue with.
@@AlanSmithee-r3tthis isnt a movie, thats the issue with the way these new people in the gaming sphere are, they try to make it like movies, but they arent movies, they are games.
@@AlanSmithee-r3t The emphasis should be on what you can "do" in it; not what "happens" in it. People who play games are interested in their agency in the game; what systems do they get to play with, what do they get to do in it. I love when writers are explaining their story and they say: “This girl is young and untrained but SOMEHOW she can carry this burden”. Like ah yes she can do this incredible thing just because with no explanation.
Angel stabs a demon with angelic weapon....nada. Demon stabs an angel with an angelic weapon....death. Makes perfect blizzard sense. Always hated that part.
Same, however Lilith is female so she's gotta win. Inarius couldn't have just been injured n fled to repent on his actions. Just kill him off after so many years of ppl wanting him ingame.
This is a staple of a lot of fantasy writing and, to a lesser extent, sci-fi writing. Things often happen because the story needs them to happen, not because they make sense in that created world. Why doesn't Gandalf use his amazing powers all the time? Why don't the Jedi do the same thing? Why do super heroes only seem to have access to specific powers under specific conditions and not just wreck the enemies with their most powerful ability 24/7? The answer is: because it would create terrible stories. This is also why I'm not a fan of fantasy stories in general. You can only tolerate them if you shut your brain off.
Gandalf never really showed REALLY POWERFUL MAGIC. There wasn't really much omg super powerful magic. Then in top of that, him using extremely powerful magic if he had it would have drawn the attention of Sauron. Diablo 4 writing is just bad though. Whether it's fantasy or not it's bad. @@Annifloyd
@@Annifloyd In regards to Gandalf its explained that the Valar(Gods) forbid the Maiar(Angels) from using their magic/powers fully. The Wizards(Maiar) were sent more as guides and advisors. To set certain things in motion but ultimately it was up to mortals. This is just a quick summary.

Big agree, but I mean are we really playing D4 for the story ? I kind of just enjoy blowing stuff up and watching my necromancer army dealing to demons.
@@Playfu1W1nd yes, because we are not playing it for the game play. If you play it for the feels, the story and visuals is what matters. If it was not for the story, you would not play Diablo at all.

Yes so... I am happy that everything I see confirms that I am not missing out on anything by not purchasing this expansion... POE2 is anyways just around the corner
Nayrel got too much attention randomly at the end of Diablo 4, and now they are doubling down on it. It was already annoying to begin with that she randomly got so important- to the extent that it was disrupting story flow
I honestly hate this format. I wish they'd have like a voice actor doing a voice over of a trailer explaining all this. Use the game to sell itself They always have this weird tone for these showcases that I've never liked.
Nayrel is just Leah of D3, probably going to turn into Diablo. The Devs telling those spoilers really kills the emersion and mystery of the story. Though with this rings of power level of story telling and writing there's really not much there.
But what about pre-ordering??? You will miss out on instant access pre-order garbage! Besides...you only spent 90 dollars. Don't you want to pre-order the game a second time to get that same long lasting feeling of regret and remorse?
..."really sacred place..." is such a bad way to talk about Diablo's lore. Putting the word "really" in that sentence shows how bad these people are at what they do.
5:52 Wait what….? When the world stone was forged? Is this a recon? The Worldstone is the Eye of Anu, origin creator of the entire Diablo universe. It was left behind on his death.
When Anu and Tathamet fought, the worldstone and pandemonium were the results It's only known as the Eye of Anu, or also as the World Forge, but it's not directly part of him It became the foundation of Sanctuary and it rose from it as an expression of Anu's creative spirit I think since D3 and other books the idea of the spirit realm, separated from the conflict has developed, since humans are of Sanctuary and don't directly belong to either the 7 hells or the high heavens
@@PrimalDirective yeah that’s a retcon then. Anu was the first being. Then Anu separated all his negative attributes from himself which created Tathamet. They fought until they both died. The corpse of Anu created the High Heavens. The corpse of Tathamet created the Burning Hells. From their corpses, Angels and Demons arose. They then fought over control of the Eye of Anu (also known as the World Stone) on the Fields of Eternity. Eventually the pandemonium fortress was created around it and has changed ownership between Heaven and Hell many times. Lilith and Inarius, tired of the war, gathered rebel angels and demons, stole the Worldstone, and created Sanctuary. The Worldstone wasn’t created. It was what was left behind from the battle between Anu and Tathamet.

My guess, cause most youngish people with creative writing degrees are probably woke millennials anyway and their consultants also told them that's the modern direction for modern audiences.
Listening to these devs talk about the world of Diablo is like listening to the RoP show runners talk about the world of Middle Earth. Zero enthusiasm. Droll, boring, just reading from a script, you can tell none of these people had anything to do with the development nor even care about what they’re saying. Call me what you will, but too many women devs, too. What’s the male to female ratio of Diablo again? 1,000 to 1 or something? Calling out the green screen background is a perfect analogy to what Blizzard is now: fake.
Nah we will get diablo in the spin-off game instead. We'll be farming, literally. Growing crops and stuff. And diablo will be a shop owner, selling seeds and tools. He's gonna be so cute and harmless because devs (with pronouns shown on screen) said we want this game to feel like a warm hug.
My money is she's going to get killed this expansion, and we'll pick up another even more pathetic lifeform to escort us on our journey moving forward.
Including Neyrelle as the main character was a mistake. Why aren't we the main character? Isn't that the point? Players are basically just the MacGuffin to allow the next part of the story to happen.
It is actually insane that dialbo 4 shipped with a severely incomplete story just to sell the rest of it years after release. And who knows if this would even complete the story? I'm so sick of this nonsense. If I buy a game I want the whole game.
Blizzard storytelling loves making the player character the stupidest person in there world. You knew this chick wasn't up to snuff doing the quests. She hurt her arm doing a basic quest. I don't understand why we even let her touch the soul stone in the first place.
Or decide who to trap, the girl that did nothing to us the entire game (her cultist fed us flowers so we chased her....why?) or the guy that helped us chase the girl the entire game that never did anything to us and she chose to trap the guy who helped us. The story telling was so garbage I have a hard time thinking of a game with a worse story. I played through twice at launch and still could not figure out what the MC's motivation for anything was. A cult fed us flowers, we killed them so our main quest was over. Now in the expansion we get to play D2 and D3's main story again of following around a character (Adrian/diablo in D2 and Leah D3) that will eventually become the boss of said game. I am betting they change it up and someone else becomes the big bad at the end as for some reason they want the worst character to ever exist in a Diablo game to be the new Cain (with us to the end....I miss Cain he was a good character).
I have bought every diablo game since Diablo 2 at launch but will not be buying this. I have been burned too many times now, I have given blizzard the benefit of the doubt after Reaper of Souls. Diablo 4 is horrible, it's basically a reskin of Diablo 3 but worse.
With what blizzard/wow writing taught me, the ending of the expansion with either be Nayrell going on a psycho trip and fusing with the soul stone, or she’ll become a girl boss and shatter the stone herself. Regardless, I just hope we get a playable hellzone similar to D3 act 4 heaven, and an endgame akin to or better than what D4 currently has
The power of modern audience storytelling gives all the prime evils a run for their money. Why did she run off all "heroic" at the end? She's a strong independent hero who don't need no player.
Nope - Just not interested. Be that the story, the new class, new zone or the crappy Co-op. This expansion gets no buy from me. And simply better games out there to play right now.
It's important to realize that apparently in the Diablo universe that the demons and fallen angels really don't ever "die". They just get sent back to Hell and have to regain their energy to be reborn again. That's what Mephisto was doing before he got retrapped inside the soulstone., that's what Diablo did, and that's why Baal was trapped inside a living body being chained to a rock before being let out in D2:LoD, because if he died, he'd just have been reborn in Hell. Which is one of the weirdest plot devices ever in the lore imo because it basically means the Angels and humans can't ever really win because when the angels die, they straight up die, and humans and the nephilem also just die, and the demons will constantly be coming back forever and ever.
Angels are also immortal as an army - individually they may die, but there's a fixed number of them, and whenever one dies, the Crystal Arch produces another angel to replace them - which is why Heaven and Hell were able to struggle against one another for an eternity.
It's actually a good plot device for a long standing franchise. Evil never truly dies. As a result you should be vigilant and prepared to fight it back whenever it rears its head. Even the good can be corrupted, and simply praying to 'God' is not enough to save you if you do not truly believe it. Having a story like that shifts the perspective from 'fuck, this again?' To ah shit! He's back! Grab your shield, it is time to dine in valhalla! As my father's father defended this land, so shall i.
I've played every Diablo campaign several times and if you asked me what the story was, I'd say "Um, some angels and demons are fighting and humans are caught in the middle." The story really doesn't matter in Diablo, in that there's no part of it you need to know to play the game better.
I really hate these devlogs where they all share a small portion of the story one dev after an other. Explaining us the story. Just let us play it ! Just let us see by ourselves how it unveils. Let us guess how each character feels and how they play their role. This is so shitty. Like we’re too dumb to understand ? Lile they got to always say : oh yeah this next patch is so cool there are new skills that are really cool! They do that to sell their fucking preorder but to me it ruins it. Havent bought d4 and im glad. Cant believe people will buy this expansion that came what… a year after main game release ? When they sre still patching their games?! Hey guys buy this expansion ! But we havent yet finished d4 ! Blizz is done and it only last because there are streamers who accept mediocrity. D4 should ve never been streamed at the state it released. Blizzard needs to start developping game for a longer period again.
The game has been out for more than a year, and they are just summarizing the events that lead up to the expansion. If you did not want spoilers then you should have just played the game, lol.
@@KarmaKahn I find it really weird people watch something that does or may contain spoilers, and the video will even say so, and then complain about it, like they didn't have a choice lmao.
@@KarmaKahn its not about spoilers its about how they always present the game. Compare that to ggg. When they show new skills or a new patch, they dont try to explain everything about everything. And they won’t go about : yeah this new skills is really cool you guys. They just go : yeah we added this and that tell us what you think! All im saying is my opinion. I knew blizzard in its prime and its not it. The fiasco about their release just keep happening Overwatch 2. Wc3 reforge. Now d2 remaster get no more update. Just resets. Diablo immortal. No new starcraft when sc scene is still going. What else ? You know there is more. It happend to every big compagny tho. Look at bf2042.. its laughable. I just wish it would not work. That they would need to change their ways. But they wont as people still buy their shit. Anyway im nostalgic. If you knew the release of d2, wc3, wow! Man you would feel just like me that this is not it.
Vessel of the fellowship of the ring with the exact plot of D2 and D3. D2/D3 we followed someone through the entire game (Adrien/diablo and Leah) until they became the boss of said game. D3 at least mixed the concept up enough that it seemed different, this time it just looks like they merged the two together (so far, time will tell if I am wrong).
After i saw what "runewords" were i actually refunded my base edition for the expansion. They don't.. just... get.. anything.. right. I'm so tired of this Blizzard soft-modern garbage they do.
Getting woke vibes from this, the story started off incredibly good, at first, but then spiraled out of control at the end, and the ending was about as trash as trash could get. Calling Lorath an old drunk reminds me of that she hulk scene where she's explaining how hard her life has been due to being cat called... Lorath was there with Tyrael attempting to seal away the black soulstone, before maelthael appeared and cut down his men and was the one Tyrael told to go and find the neph at the beginning of ROS. Not to mention the last of the horadrim...Lorath, some old drunk white man.... like dayum.
Can’t wait to see how many Strong Diverse Women™️ in the expansion are major quest characters and in charge of nothing but incompetent or cowardly men who could never be as strong as the Strong Women™️. Also can’t wait for Nayrel Sue using the power of her diversity to somehow not fully succumb to corruption from Mephisto’s soulstone and thus being more Strong™️ than all those male characters in Diablo lore that were corrupted. Oh wait, I can wait on all that garbage. I can wait forever, because Path of Exile 2 is right around the corner and Blizzard is never getting another cent from me for their Current Day, Modern Audiences™️ half-baked garbage they call games. Diablo 4 was the absolute last straw.
We all know Lilith is just going to turn out as the misunderstood strong female who was trying to help us all along. Modern Blozzard writing is certified F trier.
By tearing off his wings before she killed Inarius, Lilith made him human. If that is true and not symbolic he will not be resurrected through the Crystal Arc and is truly dead.
If you know anything about Angels in Diablo....Then you should know that Angels of Higher Rank like Inarius and Tyrael cannot Die completely. They will reform eventually. Inarius dying is more like he just went to sleep. Prime evils and The Angelic Counsel are two sides of one coin. Inarius knew that the conflict would never end and simply wanted to hide away from everyone. I wonder if these Devs actually looked at their own lore.
They don't reform, just when one dies another can be born from the Lightsong. It's a completely different angel. Tyrael being rebirthed as the angel of Wisdom is the first and only time an angel has ever been reborn as the same "person".
For those who haven't finished D3, I apologize, but: In D3, we end up losing Leah as she was eventually possessed by Diablo, and then destroyed by Imperius. For me, it was heart-wrenching to see her survive all of those events in D3 with your character, only to be done in like that (and by her own mother, no less). I feel like a similar thing is happening (or is going to happen) here with Neyrelle and Mephisto
