@@itzshadowz7467 Ig that’s just Bloc Party having fun, you know? I’ve heard many live songs from them and they seem to not care about it being perfect, but having fun with it and making the experience enjoyable
I would say they are working within the British punk genre here (whether it be post punk or pp revival etc) but that "out of sync" - ness only adds to their immediacy in my opinion.
@@redatlanta3100 But is the line about America's consumerism? UK is also capitalist in that sense, making it a strange comment. Unless, it's not actually speaking about economic trends, but behaviors.
I like it too, but I also like plenty of other music, because I try to stay open minded, and not an asshole that's dismissive of anything new or different.
Haven’t heard this song since my Guitar Hero days, but it has certainly played in my head a few times over the years. So much nostalgia. Will definitely check out their other stuff.
When I was a kid I would play Burnout Revenge on Playstation 2 and I always got so hyped when this song came on the in-game radio. Well over a decade later youtube recommends me this video and now I'm speeding down memory lane.
Eh, I was 15 when this came out. It wasn't that great an era. Some good music, but that will almost certainly be said of the current era. You didn't miss much, I wouldn't worry!
@@GabrielPowerful Agreed. Most of the decade consisted of Apple commercials and Crunk music being imposed on everyone. Also the time period that started the abuse of autotune.
Good times in the 2000s but the music got a lot better in the early 2010s. Artists that are top 40 today were making debuts. Twenty One Pilots and Tame Impala, to name a couple.
@@GabrielPowerful I'm a bit younger, I was born in 1991. One of the better things of the time (among video game collectors, anyhow) is that retro video gaming wasn't a popular hobby from 2003 - 2007. People like me with obsessive and caring Dads went out to yard sales and got tons of "old games that are useless" (that was the mentality) for very little. I once bought 68 NES games and 3 SNES games for about $18 (which wasn't happening every day,) but it was a GOOD lot. Maniac Mansion, Super Mario 2 and 3, Megaman 2, 3, 4 and Lolo 1, 2, and 3 were in there. The real gem was Power Blade 2, though. Too bad I let a fortune fall through my fingers, but there you go.
I hope this doesn’t come out racist because I swear it’s not to be and someone will always take a comment the wrong way. But I can’t remember the last time I saw a black front man in a band like this, I’ve heard of the band before but never listened to them, they good will define checking them out
I say its their famous song till this date. As when hearing this for the first time you think its a white guy but nope a black guy being in a rock band as i was also fooled back then.
not really. the song is a self critique. a lot of people thought this song was barbed and aimed at bush when it first came out, which is pretty obvious why some would think that but kele has said its towards himself
They are different but yeah I can see what you mean. I like both songs. It's possible they were inspired by it. When I heard their song 'hunting for witches' the first time I thought the riff was covering 'sweet dreams' by Eurythmics
@@OrphansCorpse As someone that truly loves hardcore, punk music, the singing is still raw and great. In live version, i will always prefer energy over making each tone perfect. In other live versions, the singer was singing like in studio version, so i don´t mind this at all.
@@OrphansCorpse punk live shows are wild. Most of the bands are jumping into the crowd and vocalists are not even singing/screaming lot of parts. What i am trying to say is, that i dont exactly mind that vocals are not perfect. not talking about the guitars, i understand the criticism there
