Brad Jones said that one of the CTC reviewers tried to get Erod fired from the site, and that some former CA members only left cause they wanted to protect their brand even though they knew the situation was BS. In fact some didn't want to leave but some that helped wrote the CTC document told them "Its us or them!" Some even asked CA to come back. Erod can be mad at Doug all he wants, but he needs to know this cause that's not how a mature adult would act.
@Conrad Ferrus It is what all previous movies were building to, thus it is a finale. A movie still has a finale even if later they make a sequel, and as the extended universe nonsense all meeting together has been put on ice any further movies will reflect new ideas and places to go but Justice League was set to be their culmination and it burned out.
@Conrad Ferrus And the Avengers was still the finale for the movie saga initially set up. More would come, but that was the end point envisioned when each individual movie was made. When they were dropping hints about Darkseid in BvS they were not planning Suicide Squad II, they were planning Justice League and several meddling movies before it, it is still the pay-off point. Which is ironic of-course considering what we got. Narratively such story points are still referred to as "Finales". I expect Erod here to have more and more and more episodes, but his adversary special is still where his planning for a major event ends.
It is technically the finale since they announced they were winding down about a year back. After wonder woman (year they assume is popular) and shazam and suicide squad 2, i think they are ending it but at the same time they seem to be backhanding it.
The Boob Tube Oh come now a product is only worth the sum of it’s parts. And Erod, Lupa and Linakra were some of the parts that made the channel they that shall not be named awesome. So really it still works.
@@sadlobster1, All three used to be part the Nostalgia Critic's Channel Awesome. Lupa left because of sexual harassment issues from a creator that the Awesome managers tried to ignore and then sweep under the carpet, Linkara left because he found out about the above and when he went to check on working conditions it turned out he was shouldering most of the site maintenance for free (he was told all creators do it their share but it turned out he was basically an unpaid site manager). There were whole bunch of other issues including injuries, late-pay and missing pay from the site and it's events. Erod had to fight to get any advertisement time, but the irony was when it looked like he was about to get a lot more it was because of a mass exodus from the Channel Awesome. Members who got together to talk after finding out about Lupa and realized how Channel Awesome was treating it's members. Erod was one of the less screwed over members but left in support of his former peers who had helped him while he was getting his feet wet as a creator. Erod got Linkara and Lupa because the three had stuck-by each other and gone out on their own. This happened just about a year ago now, hence both me using the worst BvS line as an excuse to joke about Channel Awesome being the one traumatizing factor they all share and AwesomeAlex500 saying "Too Soon". Rainier Wolfcastle: "Dats de joke".
To be fair, the reason there were two different directors is quite tragic, Zack Snyder’s daughter committed suicide so he was understandably dealing and processing that, but they probably could have found someone closer to Snyder’s tone than literally the opposite
We finally answered the quesiton: could Superman make a laser so hot even he would take damage from it. Also: the bad guy dies in the EXACT SAME WAY as the badguy from "We're Back"
Wow! this is awesome. It's like old school channel awesome before everything got all screwed up! Which I won't get into. But definitely itching that nostalgic feeling. COOL!
I'm happy with the review. As someone who didn't enjoy the movie, the review was surprisingly more watchable than I thought it was. It was cool to see two other people with different perspectives (one who hated it, one who liked it fined, and one who felt indifferent to it). Also, you three had fantastic chemistry! I can see why in your video discussing this why you were better off doing it with the three instead of by yourself. In the review section and the skits, you three bounced off of each other well and brought your own point-of-view to whatever you were talking about, as a fan of the characters or as a basic moviegoer.
plus unike the crossovers we do not speak about people are in character with their shows, legit i didnt watch lupa for years due to how she was in the crossovers as i gave someone more respect then i should have thinking he knew how to do a crossover that would help introduce people to other reviewers, and that pisses me off, cos i enjoy her show
I can just imagine a annual crossover between the Blockbusters busters and other former members of channel awesome. Maybe next time you can include Phelous as more of the role flash played in Justice League
i kind of want him and hagan to do a yearly review thing ala his Halloween shows, with her being a deity and erod having a mythos it could be like a training arc kind of deal, their crossovers allows him to tap into new kinds of powers or something like that
I love the meta juxtaposition of reviewers with lore (Erod and Linkara) and reviewers without (Lupa) who are inexperienced with the storyline shenanigans. Also given Linkara’s propensity for callbacks with both the Warrior crossover and the Dark Nella stuff from way back when coming back around, I’d love to see this referenced again in a future storyline
Pikashades What? You do realize that not only Joss was involved with the movie right? Zack Snyder was also the director of the movie before he left. Ultimately it was them both who made this film, which was a huge problem, I blame WB for not allowing either of them to let their styles shine and have an inconsistent Frankenstein’s monster of a movie.
Congrats on 300 episodes. Fantastic work on this one. Didn't take a chance to re-watch this in-cohesive disaster. Its just an incomplete mess. The tone is uneven, the plot is ridiculous, and the morals are all f---ed up. I was surprised you didn't mention the portrayal of The Flash, I thought they made him a complete idiot. While most have defended this portrayal as The Flash does pop jokes here and there, but he wasn't very smart, hell, he doesn't even have his trademark job in the movie until the very end. I said this before in many comments on the subject of the DCEU, they should've stuck to doing solo films before jumping into the team-ups, that way audiences can have time to get to know certain characters, have the characters develop properly, and have the audiences grow to care and become attached to certain characters.
Post-Flashpoint Steppenwolf was a bit more formidable. He killed Superman and Wonder Woman in the same fight in the Earth-2 comic. Question: the past battle had Amazons (Wonder Woman), Atlanteans (Aquaman), and a Green Lantern (Not Appearing in this film). Why do we have a Teen Titan instead of John Stewart. Nevermind, Erod is covering this as I type.
I would have preferred a Green Lantern in this movie instead of Cyborg, I don't mind him in the movie but he really didn't do much. I would have liked to see someone like Kyle Reaner interact with Flash or John Stewart being a badass, hell even out of everyone if they chose to do Guy Gardner it would have been a new change because I don't think he has ever been done before in a live-action role, or if they want to be traditional they can still use Hal Jordan.
This review was - awesome! The jokes were spot on and fitting (I felt like Lupa and Linkara had the best lines there XD), the story was interesting with an unexpected twist at the end (who would've thought?) and I just loved the various references to the superhero movies in there. Congratulations on making 300 episodes, Erod & Co. Keep on rollin'!
Goatcha Hes here and he will sure be to stay gumby lets all see what magical games he can play he can change into anything with his pals pokey prickle and lou he could walk through the walls if he wanted tooooo
“Someone as noble as Superman wouldn’t just get into a fight without a good reason.” **Linkara gets hypnotized into fighting his friends.** Subtly implying that Linkara is as noble as Superman. I like it!
If you were to go back 5 years ago and told me that Aquaman would make more money then Justice League I would’ve laughed my ass off. Now we are in that reality.
@@TimeTravelinc I forgot if it was an "alternate reality" joke of a "no one knows what Linkara does in Channel awesome" joke... or if it was Phelous... that is a good possibility
By the way, the entire movie was about Batman forming a team, that is hopefully as powerful as Superman, to defend against extraterrestrial threats. The movie ends up revealing that the team isn't enough so they decide to resurrect Superman after figuring out they can
I love these critics, and I miss when they were working with Doug. I don't think outsiders will ever understand what fully happened internally with the members of the site, but I sincerely hope they'll make up with each other someday. Sure it won't be the same again, but its much better than being in bitterness and frustration.
Daimon Atkins It redeems Aquaman but not the DCEU as a whole. I say his film is one of the couple gems in the franchise, if they ever reboot it, I say keep Aquaman along with Wonder Woman in the new continuity.
Ironic that this comes out the day Affleck says he's out as Batman. I did always like him in the role despite the poor writing. Karl Urban for the Dark Knight anyone? Or just bring back Keaton for a Batman Beyond or a Dark Knight Returns film. Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa are the only things that work in the DCEU.
Now how would I do a justice league film? Let’s see.... 1. I’d give each individual their own film except for one(I’ll elaborate). I’d make a Superman, Batman, flash, Wonder Woman, aquaman, and last film be Green Lantern(featuring Hal Jordan and John Stewart but Hal be the GL for the league) film. Then do a JL film. 2. I’d have the main villain be Brainiac given A. He’s not too complex of a character B. He’s definitely a threat that would warrant the whole league. 3. For the plot I’d have all the league members alive but it starts with Hal Jordan picking up a distress signal on mars and discovers J’ohn Jones the Martian Manhunter in a stasis pod and J’ohn says “he’s coming”. I’d have J’ohn be the Nick Fury of the film and he assembles the League to stop brainiac because Braniac plans to gain all the knowledge of earth and destroy it. J’ohns people were at war with Brainiac 5 earth years ago but Brainiac killed off all of J’ohns people. Given Mars’s high advanced technology they remained undetected by the rovers and they shorted out when they were close range. The war didn’t kill Brainiac but he remained drifting in space for many years to get it up and running. J’ohn went into the stasis pod just Incase Brainiac ever returned and tied it to his signature. The group would consist of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and Martian Manhunter. I’m certain what I came up with was better than this film!
We are living in Bizarro World where the best DC movie in 10 years is Aquaman. In other news, another great job E-Rod, keep on kicking butt for the fans.
@@PFiction24 That didn't stop these people from laying all the blame on Snyder who was grieving over the death of his daughter while this movie was turned into this state in post production. This video is basically a PSA about how rape is okay and it's only at the fault of the victim's parents for not being there to stop it.
Pikashades Wow, just wow. They didn't even mention Snyder, probably out of respect due to the loss of his daughter. And I also said Snyder's hands were tied on JL by WB. Your just an edge lord/troll, now stop your whining.
I come from the future and i can say the best DC movie in a decade is starring the most recognized comic book villain of all time. Now i'm convinced we're in Bizarro World.
Oooooooh I never made that connection. I just thought it was some substitute for his original concept partner for this series, Panda (I think that was his name?). Makes sense since I can’t even find Una anywhere on youtube
wow i used to be a big fan of yours and channel awesome's, but it's been a long time since those days. this pop'd up in my feed so i thought i'd see how you where going along (having recently also rediscovered sad panda). so it was kind of a blast from the past to see the old reviewer universe story line thing still going on. kinda crazy really.
Honestly, I loved Aquaman's portrayal in these movies. The surfer bro of the Justice League. Certainly a lot more personality he has in most of the comics.
Honestly I think this is by far the best of your crossovers E-Rod. And it's not just because this one had higher stakes or more people but because it honestly felt like you three had earnest commradery and compaionship in a way your other crossovers didn't since this one felt well the most collaboraitve. The other Linkara ones really didn't because as you've said before you did the writing for most of them and I think you said before Lewis didn't do much writing here but it felt like you either captured his voice more or he had more time to tell you what it would be like to really get the feel of the character. Some bits still fet off (blasting up over One More Day when that should be more say Holy Terror or something) but it felt much more on point. But the MVP who felt the most in character was Allison Pregler. And you know since technically Obscurus Lupa retired herself (something I kind of wish was addressed as yeah OLP isn't a series anymore. Movie Nights is but that's more just Allison being funny on her own without playing a character) it's nice seeing Allison get to goof around a bit more in life action as loved her admitting she had no idea what was going on and saying Hal Jordan sucks and being too enthused as Cyborg and yeah any bit of her imitating like Wonder Woman or Lois was great and classic just zippy OLP dialogue. I think it also helps having three very different view points come across with Erod's anger (though in your "why I'm reviewing this movie" segment you kind of made it seem you hated JL the most out of the DCEU movies when that isn't the case), Linkara appreciating it but just thinking of it fine which for JL is underwhelming and Allison's outsider "eh this seems rambly and stupid and I only like two of the characters" attitude. And though the end with Una turning to stone felt pretty much what they did with Jasper in Steven Universe though this time her actually dying (which since the Buster doesn't kill kind of feels like it should of hit him more but then again she did like try killing him and his friends several times and he did keep warning her about the hammer) the actual battle though kind of short was well handled and honestly feels like a solid conclusion for this season of BB... then again it didn't say the season was over more you were doing Emoji movie next but either way solid ending to this arc and honestly good stuff. Part of me is really crossing my fingers though you guys found the time to do a movie Nights on Superman 3. Loved Allison's Movie Nights on Superman 1 and 2 and since Eric and Lewis actually are DC fans it'd be great for them to share that info with her on that film.
Wait... a villain who was affraid got defeated by his own creatures? It's exactly like Pitch black from Rise of the guardians. He got beated by his nightmares at the end of the movie. It's really creative to put this scene here U-U
