It’s a shame, kids today will never have the same feeling we used to have on a Friday night going to blockbuster and ordering pizza and snacks. I miss the 90’s ❤️
I am a kid and I remember going to a Blockbuster Video when i was younger, I didn't knew that was the first and last time i went to a Blockbuster. I would love to return again
Walking into blockbuster and smelling the popcorn walking the isles and getting excited finding the movie you were looking for. Then when you put it in the VCR you realized it was not rewound. Lol
Man, the nostalgia feels just hit me hard. Going to Blockbuster as a kid on a Friday night and choosing an NES game for the weekend and a movie was amazing.
Blockbuster Video quite! The more I come back to 90s/early 2000s related media the more I absolutely abhor the current state of today’s... just about, everything, about, everything in every way. I could care infinitely less about the advances we’ve made. I just know that during that time period, the world was truly so magical that EVEN COMMERCIALS radiated with that exact same energy. Evil was a hell of a lot less present in every way. We were all closer to one another. Now with all the advances we’ve made, we’ve become miserably more and more isolated with every single year. The very last drop of that magic had died in 2009, and I felt it. I knew in my heart that things were only just getting started.
There might be a Blockbuster Video store in the state of Oregon and it's the ONLY store in the entire world. But Blockbuster Video will always be legendary. I sure had lots of good memories
It's in Bend. A city near the center of the state. It's exact address is 211 NE Revere Ave, Bend, OR 97701 That store is now a tourist attraction, and they get fan mail and visitors from all over the world. And people still actually rent DVDS and Blu Rays from it there locally.
@@themaestro3034 The issue is that too many people are so hoodwinked by their phones nowadays that they don’t socialize as much as we did before the age of smartphones. Sometimes doing things the old fashioned ways are vastly more authentic.
@@zcm007attack when the printing press was invented and books were made in far bigger quantities many young people at the time started reading a lot however the more conservative people started the same smear campaign and books where considered "a poison to the ripe young mind" and that it was making people more dumb... sound familiar
I work at a Lowe’s, and the other night, after we closed. I went to the back and for some inexplicable reason the truck with the nights freight smelled exactly like blockbuster. The amount of nostalgia that hit me in that exact moment… I can’t even begin to tell you… I’m a grown man and I almost cried
It's amazing to think that video stores were a staple of most family's lives and yet this billion dollar industry came and went in a mere 20 years. So many memories that can never be recaptured today. I remember many a friday going into blockbuster to rent a game for the weekend while my parents picked a movie.
Rip to the good ole days, I remember being a kid going into Blockbuster seeing the big selection of games and movies. To bad technology is making it to where this will never happen agin.
I still have and possess the original Mario Party 3 cartridge for Nintendo 64 inside the original Blockbuster case. Never took it back, they never called, they went out of business soon after and I kept a piece of history.
@@Sanctifiers no it’s not just a video store it’s a staple of one billion people’s childhoods it’s an amazing video store and you shouldn’t be on this RU-vid video if you’re making all these mean comments
Absolutely incredible! I grew up in Australia, Canada and the US and rented at different Blockbuster Video locations in all three places. I worked at a Blockbuster when I was a teen, as did my cousin. I still keep my Seattle Blockbuster Video card in my wallet for nostalgic sakes! Such amazing memories from childhood to adulthood, renting movies and games with family, friends and or significant others. Thanks so much for posting this! 💙💙
We’ve traded in convenience for a experience and you can definitely feel it’s impact. It was an event to go to blockbuster...The smell, lights, and excitement of a wonderful chill night to come. Now I wait in my Jeep In a Walgreens parking lot to speak to a box. We are not going in the right direction folks.
@@TWOCRUNK4U you’re saying “taking up precious time” when reference the EXPERIENCE of a blockbuster night. That would be the same as someone wanting to sky dive but saying “just take the plan up and land it and say I did it” because the entire process takes too much time. I’m not talking about ordering groceries here smh
@@TWOCRUNK4U I don’t think even you know, what you mean. Also, what In the world does an ego have to do with anything? Anywho I’ll take you up on that alone bit, if it means I can stop interacting with you :-)
@@Lrn2hmp no just cuz you are too stupid to comprehend something as simple as my comment then you definitely need to be living in the 90s backwards lol bye bye dummy
I've decided to make a Blockbusters Video store isle in my bedroom; I'm talking yellow paint, all my DVDS Blu Rays and VHS Tapes on shelves including movie posters everywhere and an actual BLOCKBUSTERS signs 😊
Miss those Friday nights as a kid. Walk half a mile to the nearest Blockbuster, spend 30 minutes picking out the perfect movie, then fire up some popcorn and throw that bad boy in the VHS player.
Had to check this out. I drive pass a store front with a silhouette of an old blockbuster sign. I miss those blockbuster Saturday nights. Hoping my mom would rent me a game.
Good ol 90s. Waking into Blockbuster on a Friday night, I can still remember the smell of plastic from all the cartridges..lol and the popcorn. And then sitting down watching the intro to the movie with the Universal studios intro... priceless.
@@Sanctifiers fuck you you piece of shit. Fuck off if you don't like my statement. Yes I would fucking go there prick. You don't fucking know what I would do. It's a Big part of my childhood. Now why don't you go back in your mommas basement and not worry about what other people do or say.
@@Sanctifiers stfu... this was beautiful experience with family you’ll never understand... Keep stream movies on ur phone and txting ur fake friends in social media.
@@Sanctifiers Damn, you're WEIRD. Get your fucking meds adjusted. Or - better yet - go outside and get some sunlight, fresh air and EXERCISE. Calm the fuck down. Weirdo.
@@Sanctifiers Yeah the people who are nostalgic for video stores seem to forget that life is so much better today than it was back at the end of the 20th century. People are much happier now than they've ever been.
thanks a million this store was my whole childhood went 3 times a week with my younger brother such a great blast from the past brings back my whole childhood thank you for uploading :)
No problem!😃👍 I'm glad it brought back a lot of good memories!🙂 My Channel is completely dedicated to keepinh the magic of the.80's, 90's and Blockbuster alive!😎📼💾🎮 If you know somebody who would love this Channel please tell them to check out some of my videos, I would sincerely appreciate it!😃
I remember renting games at Blockbuster Video. I also had one of those unlimited rental passes a couple times and i would go to my local Blockbuster every day to pick up a game. Since I had more than one console later on, now I had access to other games. Talk about "wow, what a difference!"
You gotta think of it like this man. They went bankrupt because most people never returned their movies and/or games. That means NO PROFITS, NO LIABILITY, NOBODY HELD ACCOUNTABLE.
RadioCommercialRecorder Believe me in change.org there are lots of petition that want blockbuster back and I recommend u to sign, comment, share, and support those petitions of bringing blockbuster video back in usa
@@panarinsbread I didn't dumbass. I said you're an idiot for it and that it's pathetic. And in fact yes, I can say whatever the fuck I want to you or anyone else as it's a public space.
The Blockbuster around the corner got converted into a T-Mobile store. I'm happy that at least the building itself still exists -- driving by it always gives me feelings of nostalgia.
Fun Fact: There's one Blockbuster Left and it's in Bend, OR. RU-vidrs, Celebrities and even some Voice Actors must go to Bend, OR and visit the Nostalgia. The one in AK closed back in 2014 (I think) So, yeah.... It is what it is! Also it was Converted as an Airbnb Space during the Pandemic for 2 years and trust me the amount of Staying Request is up the Roof. Even RedBox and NetFlix didn't have this much attention! Yeah, I miss those days too, Even though One of my Bucket List is Visit the One and Final Blockbuster on Planet Earth in Bend, Oregon! This is why Oregon is worth visiting this.... MAIN REASON!!
I don't understand why Blockbuster Video can't return, if the McRib and pumpkin spice flavored everything can return every year, why can't Blockbuster Video? I want it back!
Man there was nothing like going to blockbuster friday night or saturday morning. And if that movie was rented out.. And that angel behind the counter reaches in that return bin and says oh someone brought it back... Like hitting the lotto...good times
What an amazing lookback of these amazing memories of our beloved Video Rental store, its a darn shame I still miss Blockbuster Video in today's world...
So many good memories buying and renting video tape movies at Blockbuster Video and Hollywood Video in the 90s same thing with DVD movies in the early 2000s
I was born in December of 1993 to this day I really miss shopping at blockbuster video thank you blockbuster for the great memories across America.❤❤❤❤❤
If only leaping like Dr. Sam Beckett was possible then you go back and relive those memories like enjoying typical Friday night watching a movie from blockbuster
In Mexico, Blockbuster arrived here in 1991 and was a success initially. It dethroned VideoCentro given that Blockbuster offered a much better customer service than VideoCentro. However in 2000's, Blockbuster Mexico had a hard time dealing with a new competition: flea market pirate DVDs
I was born November 1999 so I barely got to experience this, but I had one close to my home (it's appearently a five guys and a beauty store now) but I just remember visiting that store and all the Gameboy games and movies... I miss those days
There is one Blockbuster left in the world. It's located in Bend, Oregon. They have a website wit ha gift shop for t shirts, hats, even a candle that smells like the inside of a blockbuster video store. If you ever supported or loved Blockbuster, buy somethign from that gift shop and help keep that last store going because when it goes, it's gone forever.
I'm glad I was born early enough to be able to experience video rentals. 2000's kid here so I didn't rent NES games but rather GameCube and PS2 games (which some handheld thrown in there) which was the last generation before the internet and digital started to take over physical media.
The blockbuster near me was really cool because it had a giant blockbuster sign/ticket on the building. It has dark blue carpet with stars and film tape on it. All the tape containers were empty until you went to the counter to rent them. If you didn't rewind, they charged you! And my sister and I would fight over who got to put the tape in the return drop box!
rip blockbuster i miss that place if only netflix n both could have excisted with each other if a movie aint on netflix it would be there instead n vice a versa
@@jswatch9270 I just got finished watching the documentary about the last blockbuster and apparently when Netflix was just starting out there was a meeting between them and blockbuster. During the meeting Netflix did suggest some sort of teamup, but sadly Blockbuster refused their offer and now look. They’re gone now like the dinosaur save for one. Oh how I miss it. I have so many fond memories going there as a kid and teen.
