Thank you for posting this video. I always wanted to see Blood Brothers with the Cassidy Brothers. When I was a young girl I had a crush on both David and Shaun Cassidy. My heart still is sad that David is no longer with us. Or that he suffered so much at the end of his life. I'm glad that he had family and friends around him in his last days. He even stated " so much time wasted." And I think if there's anything we can learn from his death is not let time get wasted away. I love you David Cassidy God bless and Godspeed 👼
Words cannot say how I was affected by this play. Went to see it because I was a devoted fan of Petula. I was blown away by her, David and Shaun's performance. I saw the play 8 times. Cried so much each time. God Rest, Dear David!
I saw Petula & David in the touring production. I was so impressed with Petula--so enjoyed her singing and great comic timing. Very phenomenal performance! Very impressed with Shaun here. Lovely voice. :)
Best thing David Cassidy did in his career. He was amazing. Would've won a Tony if it had been the original cast. Too bad it wasn't made into a movie with this cast.
I said the same thing. Too bad they didn’t open this show on Broadway instead of transferring the London cast. They would have all won Tonys. I wish they would have filmed this too. Phenomenal performances. I was lucky enough to get to see them perform in it!
@@elianamiller2666 No, in "Blood Brothers" - it had David & Shaun. This is from Blood Brothers. Look at the title. Yes, I saw both DC and years later, Patrick in "Joseph."
THANK YOU so so much for this rare music clip. David, Shaun and Ms. Petula looked and sounded just great and still in their prime. I saw on TV Shaun and David singing together on a few talk shows to promote the play and I was in awe of how good they sounded together. I truly wish that back then they had collaborated on an album together, blending their voices to do song covers. They sounded great together. Now, as of 2017 David is battling the early stages of Dementia the disease that claimed his beloved mother in her later years. Thank you for this rarity and trip back to better times and memories.
I have been a Petula fan since 1965 and have seen her live at least 30 times. Blood Brothers is by far the best thing she has ever done. I saw this 7 times on Broadwsy and once on tour. I visted backstage a few times. Pet was always her gracious and funny. David,Shaun and the whole cast were so nice.
Saw this production twice with Petula Clark and the Cassidy Brothers. Omg they were all Great. Broadway should bring this musical back. I also saw David & Petula tour Hershey Pa. with this show 💗😊
Seeing Blood Brothers on Broadway in 1993. This is when I fell in love with Broadway. A love affair that continues to this day. I still hear the opening narrator "Have you heard the story?" And Petula singing "Like Marilyn Monroe". A year later I met my wife in California, and she loves Broadway shows too!! Thanks for posting this! From time to time I search Blood Brother, and so I just found this. Bravo. Brought back such wonderful memories!!
I went to see/experience Petula Clark & was stunned by how gifted an actress she was/is....I got to meet her @ the Golden Gate Theatre, several times. She could not have been more gracious to her fans....and there were legions of them.
Fantastic, brilliant and perfect. This was a completely and unbeatable dream team for this show. The Cassidy's were excellent. Petula Clark superb and even unequalled in this role. David a big loss to the music world. This is Just perfection, absolute perfection.
I have seen Petula over 100 times and I saw her in this three times in one weekend. She was utterly fantastic as were the Cassidys. I knew little about Shaun and he blew me away.
I agree! Shawn was blessed with GREAT DNA! Mother Shirley, Father Jack. Thank God he inherited their talents! As much as I adore David, I thought Shawn sang better.
@@sweetiepie1959 Not 1 CASSIDY can even hold a candle to ANY OF DAVID'S PURE NATURAL TALENT. NOWHERE CLOSE. And MOST DEFINITELY not EVEN Jack HAS ANY OF WHAT DAVID HAS. And Jack KNEW IT, as is WHY THE INTENSIVE JEALOUSY HE HAD TOWARDS David being of JACK'S OWN SON.
I love David's singing better but I loved Shaun as a teenybopper with That's Rock and Roll and Da Do Ron Ron. If this was playing now I'd love to see it. Petula is a terrific singer.
@@sweetiepie1959There is NOT 1 CASSIDY who can hold a candle anywhere close to David IN, OF ALL TALENTS AS WELL ALL ONLY DAVBID'S OWN PURE NATURAL TALENT---WAS TOTALLY ALL OF DAVID'S VERY OWN.
I saw this cast live in Atlanta years ago and they were phenomenal. Petula Clark’s voice and delivery was perfection. The songs still drift through my mind from time to time. Thank you so much for sharing this. Brightened my day to revisit.
I had the great fortune off seeing this awesome production in November 1993. It was the night before Thanksgiving and there was already magic in the air, but needless to say, I was blown away by the magnificent performances of David and Shaun Cassidy, Petula Clark and the rest of the cast. It is truly an evening I will never forget.
Thank you for sharing this. I wanted to see this production so much! I worked with a friend who attended a New York tradeshow and he brought me a copy of the playbill back as a keepsake. I cherish it all the more now our darling David is gone. RIP my love
Petula Clark, so talented. What a great performer. Be sure to see her in "Goodbye Mr Chips." She's perfect, as is Peter O'Toole as Chips. My favorite movie. 👏
I saw Petula Clark as Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard at the old Mechanic Theatre in Baltimore in 1998. She did the role without her British accent. She was fabulous!
I had the good fortune to see this performance at the Music Box Theatre. It is the only Broadway musical I have ever seen at which the entire audience was SOBBING as the final song was sung. Great theatre. Wonderful performances.
I saw this show, different cast, in London on my honeymoon. This looks a lot different from what I remember! I bought this version of the cast recording and always enjoyed it. Thanks so much for the chance to check it out!
This is wonderful. Thanks for sharing. Petula Clark is sublime as always as are the Cassidy boys. My favourite version is the original London production with Con O'Neil.
Saw this at the Music Box Theater in NYC and then again in Dallas Texas, minus Shaun Cassidy. Was a wonderful production and Petula Clark was wonderful....the whole cast seemed to work well together.
Thanks SO much for posting this. I saw this at the Marquis 4 times, all with David, Shaun, Petula and Adrian Zmed. I was lucky, no understudies each time. I met them outside the stage door after each show, got their autographs and chatted with each. The most phenomenal show I've ever seen and Shaun and David were brilliant!! I've been wishing forever this would be on a DVD... I'm still waiting, lol. This is just a glimpse of the great memories, thx so much!!
I just adore her performance, for me the best and most convincing Mrs J. Then we have David Cassidy who pictures the tortured Mickey so brilliantly, and Shaun as Eddie, wow just wow.
I saw this with my mom at the Music Box theater. The cast was incredible. I loved the narrator who was the actor Adrian Zamed. I hope I spelled that right. He was very good also. How much I miss going to Broadway shows with my dear mother. One of my favorite memories was seeing this with her.
Bill Kenright the producer said in an interview the composer Willy Russell was very proud that Petula did this and inevitably puts her own touch to the role .I think she was brilliant .
Yes. They were all a bit worried what he'd say as notoriously he didn't like anyone messing with his songs. When he saw her, however, he was thrilled that she'd "Petula Clarked" bis songs.
Thanks very much for posting this. Wish we had access to the entire show. It is amazing that Petula Clark is so good in this and was just so awful in the Sunset Boulevard Tour.
I saw the SUNSET tour and she was wonderful and later Lloyd Webber chose her to be the one to play the part in the BBC version so i guess she liked what she did too . Also asked her to play the part longer than anyone else so i guess you are in a minority but hey we all have our own opinions and you are fine to have yours
Yes-- I am totally into the Glenn Close version. I saw the original and I saw the revival currently playing on Broadway. All I have seen of the Petula Clark version are the clips on RU-vid, but I really don't like them. It may well be the direction, but I don't even like the way she delivered the songs. And she is a very well-regarded singer.
Ah well possibly your love of Glenn Close's versions is understandable (and Petula has often in interview stated she took the role having spoken to Glenn about it and seen her in it ). Also of course the one thing you do not get watching a video clip is an understanding of any charisma on the stage on the night....)
Petula ESS magnificent in Blood Brothers,as she was in Sunset in London. I think the tacky US production affected her performance during the tour, though I love her As If We Never Said Goodbye. She is currently nominated for an Olivier for her role in Mary Poppins...at age 87!
I saw a advertisement for Blood Brothers while in NY. I had to go. Reading the playbill it said David’s character is 5yro. I thought 💭 Hmm 5yro. Ok let’s see if he can pull that off. Show starts, next thing I hear is intermission.😢😲What no?! No intermission! Then I realized, he pulled it off. O he’s good he’s really good. Towards the end 😭😭. I’m passing tissue to the women sitting next to me. They had 5 curtain calls. No one really wanted to leave. I met my friends after and my friends said what’s wrong with your makeup, you were crying!😂 It’s because they’re really brothers and it means so much more. 😂😂I laughed at her when we saw Le Mis earlier. She was crying within the first half hour.😂 🌸RIL David Cassidy April 12, 1950 - November 21, 2017❤ Seeing Shaun Cassidy March 10-11 2023 Blue Note Hawaii 🌺❤
WOW WHAT can I say, I saw A BlOOD BROTHERS Production at London And A 4 Times at My Local Theatre in Wolverhampton but this version with The Cassidy's and Petrela Clarke was an higher level wished I could get the D.V.D of this . X ❤️
I knew Petula Clark, and I knew David Cassidy all had talent. Never expected Shaun Cassidy to have that voice, but then he is Shirley Jones Son, besides Jack Cassidy both known for their voice cords in the Threatre.
