well you did it. you talked me down from the proverbial ledge. Ive been panicking - and I mean panicking- about taking HRT after my total hysterectomy 2 months ago (age 41). Ive been suffering with 15-20 hot flashes per day and I wanted HRT to relieve me of them! My prescription was filled today and after hearing and reading the side effects....its sitting here. Looming. Your video is not only informative but speaks to the rational side, and helps ground the irrational side. thank you.

I had my one-on-one consultation with Dr Taylor and all I can say is WOW! Firstly, I sent her my history and she detailed everything out for me in a very, very, very (now I sound like her) lengthy email spelling things out for me. Then we had our call to discuss all things. I left the conversation with crystal clear vision of what I am to do with regards to everything. Although I’m too high risk right now for HRT I can work on other things like my weight and cortisol levels. I had a full hysterectomy 17 years ago and never saw a gynecologist since because I didn’t think I had to. My PCP never advised me otherwise. I I can’t wait to go to see how much of this stuff she/he knows and that I need vaginal estrogen in order to keep all those wrinkles inside my vagina. 😜. I will pick the best of the best to see. It will be interesting. Thank you so much Dr. Taylor for all your advice and for your ever-entertaining and informative videos. Bye 🤚

This is awesome! My GYN said she didn’t want to prescribe me, in addition to the patch, vaginal estrogen for her fear that I would get a blood clot. I had to coax her into it by telling her I would just take it minimally. What’s amazing is that, A- she doesn’t even know that that specific estrogen doesn’t coarse throughout the body, and, B- you only use it twice a week, anyway!!!(after the initial first week, that is.). And C- the vagina needs a lot of estrogen so as not to atrophy! Thanks to you, I was armed with knowledge and information and was able to get her to prescribe it to me, albeit, reluctantly.

Very informative video, as all your videos are. Made me wonder if I should go see a dr. I’m one of those women who never goes. Haven’t stepped in a doctor’s office in over 15 yrs! I know awful! But I’ve been blessed with good health. However, I started taking biodentical estrogen and progesterone when I turned 61. Been on it since July of last yr. Everything has been great but for the past two weeks have been experiencing pain on the back of my legs which affects my lower back. Started on my left and now both legs. When I seat even if a few seconds my legs start to tingle and I feel like a flurrying up and down my legs. Been taking aspirin for the pain. I hope this is not because of the HRT.

@ejpena5844
@ejpena5844 4 года назад
A A You can get biodentical hormone creams on-line. I get mine thru Amazon. Many women do. Of course it’s somewhat of a one size fits all deal because it’s a standard dose but the standard dose works well for me. With a prescription you get a more precise dose. It’s kind of like having your clothes tailor made or buying them at a department store. Every woman has different needs so it depends what your needs are and what works for you as Menopause Barbie always tells us. Hope this helps.

Dr Taylor, thank you so much! I do have a question. If one does not have any other riskfactors for bloodclot and is on a dermal estradiol application (gel), is it necessary to discontinue the hrt when going into major surgery (total hip replacement)? You said that the dermal hrt does not have as high risk for bloodclots as the oral hrt. If the dermal hrt needs to be paused, du you know how long preop and postop? My orthopedic surgeon is not a menopause expert....💕
@MenopauseTaylor

It depends on the individual person and how long you will be immobile. Blood clots are caused by obesity and immobility. Surgery can cause immobility. So you have to assess each situation individually.

Hello Dr. Taylor - how would I go about scheduling a personal consultation with you?
@MenopauseTaylor
@MenopauseTaylor 4 года назад
Go to MenopauseTaylor.ME. Here's how a consultation works: 1) You would schedule a one-on-one consultation at my website, MenopauseTaylor.ME, choosing a time that is convenient for you. I do consultations on Skype, FaceTime. Facebook Messenger, What’s App, and the phone. 2) I would send you an email to confirm that you are scheduled for the stated time, and invite you to send me as much information about yourself as you please. You can make it brimming with details and tell me about your reproductive life, any gynecologic problems you've had, your symptoms of peri-menopause, and your symptoms of post-menopause. You can include all your fears, concerns, and goals for your menopause management. You may also send me any labs, mammogram results, bone density results, etc. that you would like me to include in designing your protocol. For instance, if you want to adhere to a certain category of management options (herbs or diet & lifestyle, or whatever), you should tell me that. I will give you a deadline for sending all materials, and will not accept anything after that date. 3) I'll get busy creating a document that gives you all the education you need to understand absolutely everything, points out the pros and cons of each option, and tailors it all to YOU, using the information you have provided. The document will be loooooong. Most are over 30 pages. 4) I will send you the document by email 72 hours before your consultation. You will benefit greatly by reading it in advance. Light bulbs will go off like crazy, and if you're like most women, you'll feel that you've already gotten your money's worth. 5) During your consultation, we will review the document and address any issues you want in order to fine tune everything and determine your best options. I'll tell you exactly how to find the right kind of professional, how to have the conversation in order to get what you want, and the nuances of things like guidelines and insurance. I leave nothing unaddressed. 6) You will go to a professional of your choosing in order to get the actual hormones or whatever you choose to use. 7) After the first consultation, I'll hold your hand (forever if you want me to). In other words, you'll be able to schedule mini-consultations (15-minute or 30-minute, in addition to full consultations) whenever you need to. I'll keep records of your situation. Most women schedule mini-consultation whenever they go to the doctor and don't understand what he or she said, or why. I translate. I make sense of everything. Most schedule mini-consultation whenever they have a new test and they want me to explain the results. And all schedule mini-consultation whenever their situation changes and they need to re-weigh and re-balance their options. The time you spend with me will make everything about working with any other professional so easy. And they will love the fact that you have an actual education rather than a bunch of misconceptions that you got from the Internet. If your initial hormone regimen is not right, you'll want to consult with me before going to your doctor. I can prepare you for what to expect and what to request. So, that's my role. And nobody else on earth does this kind of thing but me. So, I hope you schedule a consultation and let me hold your hand (figuratively). I hope to meet you soon!

Unless women are robots, answering this question requires tailoring to the one and only you. This is precisely the kind of thing for which I do one-on-one consultations. You definitely need one. I cannot tailor things specifically to you in a comment box. It requires much more information than you can give me here, and you deserve much more information than I can give you here. No two women are alike, and addressing your situation requires tailoring all the facts specifically to YOU. I do them all via online video conferencing. You can schedule at MenopauseTaylor.ME. I look forward to meeting you and helping you.

Hello Dr. Taylor, my understanding is that if you’ve had a pulmonary embolism (as was my case 5 years ago at age 46), one can still take HRT because we have to weigh the potential benefits over risks? While not yet in menopause my doctor will not prescribe HRT due to my history. She says that every conference she goes to they are expressly told to never prescribe to someone who has had a PE. Is this fully accurate? HRT is something I really hoped to explore going forward to feel my best.

Dr Taylor. What is the difference between HRT and birth control pills? I’m menopausal and taking a low dose of what I thought was HRT (as discussed /determined by gynecologist) but when I get the prescription filled the pharmacy names it birth control pills? I’m confused. I love your videos and purchased your book, wow so much great information that no doctor ever told me!

Birth control pills have higher dosages of hormones than HRT ... and they prevent pregnancy. Depending on your particular situation, birth control pills may be more beneficial than HRT. But it depends on many factors, not just the need for birth control. If you want to address all YOUR particular variables to determine which is best for YOU, schedule a consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME.

Hi Dr. Taylor! I have been trying to reach you on your site due to a technical issue on your website preventing me from making a consultation appt. with you. Every time I try to schedule an appt. I keep getting a WordPress Debugging message. The site won't let me go further than that. It sends me to this link from Word Press: "wordpress.org/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/." Definitely info for a computer developer, not a layman. This happens repeatedly, when I try to make an appt, fill in my personal information, or anything. I did use your "contact me" to write you about this but am not sure my messages are getting through. I hope you see either this message, or the one I sent on your site. Would love to have an appt!

Ashu, There is no place for "we" in your menopause management. You have to individualize everything. That's why you need to have a consultation. I assure you that you have many different options in India. The goal is to find what's best FOR YOU.

Can u belive , in India I m not able to get skin patches of hrt. India which is called the pharmacy of the world. Actually hrt is so unpopular that people don't demand it nd doctors don't prescribe it hence the unavailability. I will have to take oral hrt ( tab premarin) Thanks to God that tablet is available.
