So Askal means Asong Kalye and Aspin as Asong Pinoy... I think I can say baby Butter was once an Asong Pinoy na nasa kalye who luckily found Bret. But hey, having the chance to be reincarnated, I wanted to be like Butter, too. She's so carefree, happily running and playing, knows how to appreciate and enjoy the nature and new place, a good friend/buddy, and such a beautiful, wonderful dog.

We've been calling them askal for decades now,...if we want to call them askal would that make us less of a dog lover??? just before the word aspin came people have already been calling street dogs as askals...

hopefully you guys help to open up to other people and human the value of ASPINS they are heaveliy neglected and abandon because of their breed, please support the Animal rescue organizations and groups and animal rescue shelters as they really the hero of the aspins and strays, most of these groups are independent and volunteers they have lack of financial and support, but they continue to help and reach this loyal and lovely creations, hopefully we will promote DON't SHOP, BUT ADOPT A DOG and condemn the regulations of euthanization in the pound there's more humane way of controling them than killing them. .

As for me doesn’t what kind of breed, they’re loyal and always giving joy to people and so therapeutic and we treat them with kindness, compassion and loving them because they gave all ❤🙏 I have 4 little dogs 3 indoor cats and few stray cats , for sure no mice and squirrels around 🐈‍⬛🐕😻🐶

I prefer to call them aspin as i take care of them already & did not let them live in the streets. If the dog still roam around the streets w/o anybody takung care of them then they are askal. So Butter is askal before until Bret took care of him & became fur father so he is Aspin now. I miss you Butterbeans pagaling ka sa pilay mo I'm sure lola is taking good care of you there in Canada.

She is so adorable & lovable just like the dog whom the couple vlogger from England who are based in Siargao Island Philippies the "8 Milers from Home" adopted an Aspin when she was a puppy named her "Poppy" by their daughter Story. ASKAL Means a short of “ Asong Kalsada” that’s AsKal… meaning those are dogs who grow up n love to stay on the streets. Thats not bad. AZKAL is a Filipino team

True Aspin is dog breed but term askal seem like sounds stray or street dogs that are neglected or dogs who are off leash wandering around the street. Good thing for Butter she is left in Canada in Bret Mom's under care and I know Bret's Mom loves Butter too.

Vet and medical terms are in English. Always have any diagnosis written or printed. In fact, get a copy of the visit (or even your own doctor visit) just in case you need to see another vet/doc. It's part of one's medical history.

ASPIN is asong Pinoy so it's a general coined term. ASKAL is an ASPIN that is a street dog that nobody owns or cares for. AZKAL was used as a team name coz they wanted the team to have a name that conjures an image of strength, meanness, toughness. They of course had to trade the S for a Z so it doesn't really literally refer to street dogs.

From what I understand the intent on moving away from calling native Filipino dogs Askal to Aspin is to not continue the stereotype that native Filipino dogs don’t have the same worthiness as a house hold pets as opposed to foreign breed dogs like a Golden Retriever for example. It’s a common practice for example among wealthy Filipinos to have a foreign breed dog as the household pet while the native Filipino dog would be the guard dog. The foreign breed dog would get vet visits and dog food while the native filipino dog would not be taken to the vet and be fed leftovers like spoiled rice. By not calling them Street dogs hopefully, eventually the stigma of native Filipino dogs not being worthy of the same treatment as foreign bred dogs would go away.
