Video replay of a live session, edited down to just the good stuff! Our Level 20 adventurers descend on Castle Cainhurst, but meet stiff resistance from its defenders, a Guardian Eye and the Lost Children of Antiquity! How did we do? After the live replay, I talk about my mistakes, and go over some tactical takeaways!
I’m doing Patreon, if you want to support my work! You don’t owe me anything, but if you appreciate the time and effort I’m putting into these videos, I’d be honored by your patronage.

Love to see this sort of stuff. It feels like whenever you wanna consume dnd content you either get super short summaries or totally unedited very long videos. Having something in the middle where you get to see everything important but none of the blank time is a really nice option that I hadn't realized I wanted until now.

This is such a good idea. It's hard sometimes to translate from character sheet to actual playing the character. Especially with other party members. What's optimal for your character in a vacuum isnt always what's optimal in a group encounter. Love this!

This is a really nice video and format! The edited battle as well as your tactical takeaways afterward. I've never played lvl 20 content either, so your tactical takeaways about it are really interesting, thanks for sharing!

To prevent the Beholder moving out of the fog cloud, someone could have forcecaged; you wouldn't have been able to vortex warp other creatures into it, but the beholder would have been out of the battle. I don't know how much damage it was doing compared to the rest, but, it might have been worth it. This was a really cool video.

Wow I’m not sure how much to compliment on the players and how much to compliment your editing. This seemed like a very streamlined game with a group who knew their abilities and were decisive on what to do (or at least you made it seem so lol). This was a great watch!

Silvery barbs at level 20 play is surprisingly effective.

Thank you so much. This was great. I've been playing 30 years and never played at level 20. I liked that it was condensed combat and no roleplaying. I think that's an untapped niche on RU-vid. If I want roleplaying I'll go watch Critical Role.

This was amazing! Please do more of these, this is like watching Champions League of D&D Optimization. I enjoyed every second, from the prelude, to the fight, to the post-fight commentary.

Thanks, very nice, would love to see more of these actual play combat analyses. Especially the end part when you've broken down the analysis was very interesting. On the game itself, I was impressed that all players and the DM knew what's going on, knew their abilities etc. and were just quick and efficient taking turns. That's not always the case and efficiency keeps combats exciting. And the party seems to be a good mix. William did shine though. Kudos to the Abjurer and its pilot 😉 The Warlock in the party seemed a bit underwhelming. But I guess even at level 20, they are stuck with mostly EB when they are not built for melee. One question: where did the Hollyphants come from again? I must have missed that in your prep video.

Ha ha, the magic of editing! The turns weren't all that efficient, as we were fumbling with these high-power, complex builds that we weren't all that familiar with. But I edited all that out for the viewers. I used True Polymorph to turn a couple of objects into Hollyphants and then Planar Bound them.

@@Bilbrons-and-Dragons That's good service, appreciated and thank you! Ah, that makes sense. Very strong to have them in the backpack to shed their aura.

This is a neat idea and execution. While you won't know for certain what the best options would be during character creation, you can absolutely take notes from past games and come up with better approaches.

Hollyphants cannot be affected by Planar Bindind (due to its Aura of Invulnerability), even if the spell was cast using spell slots higher than fifth...
