Yes, the corpse that you interact with to enter the Nightmare is Micolash's. He's been dreaming for so long that his body in the real world is already dead. So he wakes up dead after you beat him, essentially
But what about Willem? Isn't Micolash younger than Willem? Or could it be that Micolash's body simply gave up because he had been dreaming for so long that his body just couldn't stand being asleep, so it simply died?
@@the_furry_inside_your_walls639 William didn't ascend to a nightmare, when you so him just before Room he was alive and awake. On the other hand Micolash and gherman both ascended to some nightmares for too long that their bodies are dead
FromSoftware, not even an english-speaking company, seriously have an ability to get the most mindblowingly powerful voice acting performances I've ever heard. The creepiness of Micolashes delirious ramblings makes my back hair curl. The raw, beast-like voice of Father Gascoigne makes him sound perfectly like a once strong hunter, not realizing the grip the beast blood has on him, like an alcoholic in denial. The trembling, scottish(?) dialect of the weak father Ariandel in Dark Souls 3, before he erupts in the most heartbreaking scream of anguish. You can tell how much time they spend finding the perfect voice actor and recording, and it really brings something special to these games. Moments like: "Oh, dear brother, rise if you would... for that is our curse" "Grant ut aaaaayies, graaant us aaaaaies" "Even the doll.... should it please you." I could go on. You don't mind that the characters on screen are not moving their mouths or changing their facial expressions the slightest as they speak - details other game developers spend hours upon hours perfecting - because the VA just steals our attention.
well said!!! couldn't agree more. it's actually one of the most memorable things from fromsoft games. My brother and me always recite dialogue in real life and crack up.
@@jordankolb2976 Actually this is the original voice acting, the Japanese version still has English voice acting but with Japanese subtitles. Same for the Souls series and Elden Ring. Sekiro's original voice acting is Japanese, for obvious reasons.
I always got this guy down to half health easily, but once we were in that room on the other side of the gate his Call Beyond and his squid arm destroyed me. It took about 15 tries on ng+, and once I gave that dirty bastard what he deserved I was crying and screaming at him to die. This game does things to you, man
+Marchingvenusaur he's super strong on ng+ if he hits you, incredibly weak in ng lol. the difference between ng and ng+ is really crazy in bloodborne especially the DLC.
He most likely the most spooky character From has ever made and I love him, he is the perfect example of a maniac, who lost himself completely but still has some traces of sanity left... haaaa I wanna have a Nightmare too where i can live in hehehehe....
One of my favorite characters. He reminds me of Roy Batty in Blade Runner, his howls echoing through Mergo's Loft, speaking riddles, the hunter unsure of who is hunting who, and whether killing him is in everyone's best interest. It was during this scene that I realized there was so much more to the world of Bloodborne than I had previously thought. "The cosmos, of course!"
Kos or Kosm? Coke or Pepsi? Milk chocolate or dark chocolate. These are life's greatest questions. Also 3:31 is one of the epic moments in gaming history.
Absolutely my favorite dialogue in any FromSoft game. The fight works because it’s so basic. Micolash rejects the use of weapons of a Hunter and is so close to understanding knowledge of the Great Ones that he opts for only using A Call Beyond and the Augur of Ebrietas, if not punching you with his extremely weak fists by contrast. It’s beautiful and shows his dedication to educating himself in the school rather than taking the easy route and swinging around a big weapon. You can tell there were nights where him and his peers sat around with their caged heads yammering away about findings related to achieving some sort of elevated state of awareness, and his realizations in the mid point of his dialogue definitely suggest he’s let himself stay open to “new ideas of a higher plane”. At the same time I love some people’s interpretations that his analysis of the player, his howling, and even him talking at all is a sort of taunt meant to piss you off and feel patronized in a sort of scholarly way. It’s too genius. And his death dialogue is so perfect, it’s the finality you never have when you’re about to wake up from a dream you’ve been invested in for seemingly an eternity. I don’t even think Micolash or Gehrman or any of the characters wake up from their dreams to a dead body, I like to think they’re all momentarily asleep and the moments in-game are mere seconds of their sleep translated to hours of gameplay experience. I think Micolash wakes up as a character in another totally unrelated Souls game and actually does forget everything.
@@enriquepelenato4956 What I love about it is the irony. It has kind of the tone of a toddler who doesn't want to sleep but he's whining about waking up. Granted, he doesn't want to wake because the nightmare is literally all he has left, but I wasn't expecting him to react that way as he was defeated. It's interesting how waking equals death.
Daniel White he is fairly easy but a damn cool boss that being said try him in ng+ with coop ; ) he one shots and has laggy ass magic it's pretty hilarious just watch phantoms get utterly fucking destroyed by him
I died a few times when I was facing him on the first playthrough but on ng+ I killed him on the first go. I didn't want the boss battle to end though!
I always felt like Micolash could have been one of the creepiest bosses in the game but his voice is just too funny for me to really take him seriously. He sounds like if Wallace went insane.
I love the little detail that in the beginning his final lines before you drop on him from the top part of the arena he actually sighs and feels tired. But he still continues his insane ramblings, as if his life depended on them. What a game, I don't think a lot of game developers realize how important attentions to detail like this is for making your game memorable
I think Micolash fight was nice but could be better. Just imagine listening to that track while you're trying to chase him and suddenly the entire place begins to spin and change constantly, it gets darker and darker, eyes begin to appear on the walls and everything starts bleeding around. The feeling of madness starts taking control of you because the music gets more and more intense and you can't catch Micolash because physical attacks don't work on him so you have to think about something different to defeat him. It's like a sick maze which changes constantly. In some moments you will be following a weak light at the end of your path, which will be your only guide to avoid permanent darkness. I think that amazing track could be even more memorable with such a fight. Just try to imagine it @__@
Well he does use some sorta returning creature enemies that seem to assemble and swing along on strings or some kinda Arcane magic thread as marionettes or puppets do when controlled by a puppeteer. That in itself began my love for the boss fight.
