You say your happy there. Somehow this reveals to me that you can be happy anywhere. You see all the flowers growing in her garden, see her books, smell the fragrance of her house and it make you dream. So let us be inspired anywhere and find Virginia in ourselfselfs.
Extremely blessed to discover this video being recommended on my homepage. As a Woolf fan, this is such pleasure content to watch. Beautiful filming. Thank you.
very nice - I am glad you enjoyed this lovely place. I am lucky enough to be a guide at Monks House and we so love to have visitors - Hopefully we can open again soon this year.
Just finishing reading all the volumes of her letters and diaries wish we knew then what we know now on how to treat mental illnesses your video makes me cry
Beautiful video, Claire! I am absolutely dying to go there, it looks so unutterably beautiful. I can just see her wandering about the garden and the downs.
What a great video! Monk's House and the surrounding areas are gorgeous. You can definitely see why she set her desk facing the hills in the distance, assuming that nothing obscured them previously. The whole area must've been wonderful for someone so brilliantly perceptive as she.
You're so lucky to be able to go to these wonderful places! But also, for those of us who can't go there (just yet) we're lucky to have you make these absolutely beautiful videos =) Really really well done.
Nice! I die for being and living!! in such a beautiful house. I die for forming a group of intellectual friends as Virginia did. And wow, 588 likes, 0 dislikes. Excellent
I have the 2013 book ‘Virginia Woolf’s Garden’ by Caroline Zoob. It’s a beautiful coffee table book. Thank you for videoing the garden. Selfishly, I wish the video went for longer. It looked beautiful. I have to embarrassingly admit, I’ve not read a Virginia Woolf book yet. I think I’ll read a little more about her life before choosing. In the time I’ve taken to write this comment, I’ve decided that I’ll buy a Virginia Woolf book for Christmas - a gift to myself this year (2020). A wonderful reason to add another book to my bookshelf. Thank you for your inspiration 🍁🍂🍄
Love love love this sooo much. That had to be amazing seeing the place of someone you love so much. You probably have that cool feeling associated with the place and time now.
This is simply beautiful! I must go and see her house! I adore this series of Snapshots you're putting together! I really enjoyed Life in Squares and felt that it did great justice to Virginia, Leonard, Lytton, Vanessa and the rest of the Bloomsbury Group. I've read Mrs Dalloway and To the Lighthouse; any recommendations for my third Woolf novel?
Hi Christina, if people enjoy my videos they can choose to tip me (just like a busker) to help support my video making. It’s completely optional and I do this instead of putting ads on the majority of my videos - including this one. If I’d chosen to put ads on this video I could have made around £3,000 for context. I’ve been using any funds I’m kindly given to help save up for a postgraduate degree. I hope that helps!
